  1. I would love nothing more than to see the A's win the World Series. They have always been my American League team but they always seem to choke in the postseason. Hopefully this year will be different (assuming they get there and don't lay an egg against the Angels in this last week and a half and miss the playoffs).
  2. Minnesota (+3) Pittsburgh (-2) Buffalo (-5.5) Carolina (-3) Green Bay (+7) Washington (-4) Indianapolis (-7) Miami (-10.5) Baltimore (-6.5) Arizona (-4.5) Philadelphia (-6) Seattle (-3.5) New England (-7) Atlanta (-3.5) Since the Raiders have a bye this week and they are my weekly lock, I guess I'll have to pick a new one for the week. Baltimore only giving 6.5 points to Cleveland is my lock. Cleveland has given up the 3rd most yards per game (including 158 on the ground) and have gained the 4th least. While Baltimore's offense has been nothing to brag about, their defense is another story.
  3. Or maybe he's not good at sharing the knowledge. Having the ability doesn't mean you can get others to learn to do what you do. That's a very valid point. The best teachers are not necessarily the smartest or the ones that have the most ability but the ones that can explain the information in a way for all of the students to understand. Knowledge is nothing for a teacher if you can't explain the material so the students understand what you are saying.
  4. Regarding Torii Hunter from cnnsi.com Take it FWIW of course but I figured I would post it.
  5. He is currently 30, and will be 31 this coming January. His next contract probably takes him from 31-35. That is his real age, right? Thanks gooney. I think the Ramirez situation is going to hurt the Cubs big tiem this free agent season unless they have already agreed to a deal. If Ramirez takes his time over the 15 days after the WS it could hamper the moves the Cubs would take and put them behind the 8 ball and we all know they don't exactly great plans to begin with. I think Hendry will wrap him up quickly for the reason you mentioned above. Both sides seem satisfied with ARam in Chicago, so I think ARam will get an extension rather quickly. I hope you're right.
  6. How much will you be posting in Singapore though?
  7. Petition to ban people making outrageous claims about Mark Prior. Petition to ban the phrase "petition to ban". I win.
  8. While Soriano is having a career year, I wouldn't even think to compare him to Adrian Beltre. Soriano has at least put up numbers in previous seasons comparable to what he's done this year whereas Beltre's 2004 season was such an anomaly that it seems like you switched his stats with somebody else's for a year. I understand the point you are trying to make, but Soriano's career numbers hardly suggest he will have a huge Beltre-esque dropoff next year.
  9. 17th for me. I'm ahead of you here just like I will be in the NSBB football league. :D You did have a two and a half year head start.
  10. Couldn't that be said about every aging future HOF pitcher, and for that matter player in general? I really don't think this says anything about the Cubs coaching staff. Nobody on that staff has won 300 games at the ML level. I would hope that every young pitcher on the Cubs team this year (and the last two as well for that matter) tried to get advice out of Maddux at some point.
  11. Great picture of ARod on ESPN.com right now: http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h184/soccer10k/AROD.jpg
  12. Memberlist --> Select Sort Method: Total Posts --> Order: Descending Same thing...it starts at 999 and goes down based on the number it starts with rather than total post count. I get the same thing. My guess is that it may be related to the search function being disabled. It's as though the number of posts is being interpreted as text rather than numeric, and it's ordered based on the first digit of the number of posts regardless of how many total digits there are. Go into the normal user interface and not the Premium interface. Then do what TT said to do.
  13. I wouldn't consider Green Bay over Detroit an upset. They are both horrible.
  14. They have been winning divisions as long as I can remember. Darn kids. Don't you ever remember the Cubs winning the East? Or how about that when the Braves started their streak, they were actually in the NL West. I remember that. 1993 when the Braves were down big to the Giants late in the season but came back to win the division by one game. The 1993 Giants and their second best record in the majors watching the playoffs from home. Great stuff.
  15. You are correct sir.
  16. Wow. I bet most of that 1.144 came in the first three innings or when the game was already won or lost. Why of course. Because we all know ARod's line in late in close games is something along the lines of .100/.150/.200/.350. The dude just can't hit in the clutch. Are there steroids for the brain that we can give Giambi to make him smarter?
  17. To each their own I guess. I despise violence against women. Personal Issue to be honest. There is no exuse for his actions. He deserves whatever he gets, so I have no problem labeling him a "wife beater". So you have something against fat people as well then?
  18. Do you have to take a personal shot at somebody with every single post? who cares..the guy beat his wife. Thats a fact. he is scum and I have no respect for him. It's just extremely repetative and tiresome. You never just say "Jim Hendry" but always add a shot about his weight. You inferred that Mark Prior was a girl. Now you're taking cheap shots at Brett Myers. I'm not trying to defend the guy and he did make a mistake but the cheap shot is unnecessary.
  19. Do you have to take a personal shot at somebody with every single post?
  20. So Tom Verducci (the author) knows whether or not ARod is going to demand a trade in the offseason? Fact is, nobody knows what is going to happen this offseason. Not Verducci. Not ARod. Not Brian Cashman. Nobody. I don't think he's going to be traded but you can't rule out the possibility.
  21. And we would be getting an even more overpaid, potentially injured starting pitcher in return. No thanks.
  22. I agree, I can smell upset here. If the game was in Jacksonville, maybe. But not in Indy. Last year in Indy, Peyton threw for only 122 yards. The running game was solid, but without Edge there, I don't know how successful they will be running the ball. Their secondary is loaded with big (good tackling..)hitters who are gonna frustrate the finesse receivers all day. Early line has Indy -7. That's a gutsy call after they just shutout the Steelers. Now the Jags gotta score some points :D Yeah. Peyton also threw for 324 yards in Jacksonville later in the year. And I do know my earlier point was that the game was in Indy and that's why I thought Indy was going to win. We'll have to wait and see. It should be a very good game and hopefully that game will be televised out here. Looking at the schedule, San Diego and Oakland don't play and the 49ers play the later game. Hopefully CBS will do the smart thing and show this game.
  23. And we at NSBB have now reached a new low with 2006 Game Threads.
  24. Not in the least. I hate the Yankees and my dad is a Dodgers fan. The potential of having to hear him brag that the Dodgers won another World Series is sickening. No thanks.
