  1. Miami isn’t very good either. 11-22 since June 30. They’ve ridden a 25-10 record in 1 run games to where they are. As long as one of them didn’t sweep (which neither did), it was a fine result to me.
  2. The only team we didn't gain ground on today was the Marlins and they played the Reds so we couldn't gain ground on both. Great day. Now win the series tomorrow.
  3. Yeah, they were a few games over .500 and got swept by the Phillies in late July, including getting no-hit. The next day they were beating the Rockies before giving up a lead in the 9th only for KB to save them with a walkoff dong in the bottom half. They lost the next day to Colorado but won the series and never looked back. Then a week or two later they swept the Giants in a 4 game set at Wrigley, finishing it off when Rondon loaded the bases with no outs in the 9th only to strike out 3 straight hitters. That gave them some space in the WC race.
  4. Rarity score of 191 but I actually got 9 of 9 for once.
  5. Also we’ll have Ohtani as the DH next year so that spot won’t be open.
  6. This might be premature but horsefeathers it I don’t care. #WEAREGOOD
  7. Yeah, created plenty of chances, just couldn’t score. That never should have even gone to PKs. And even then if Rapinoe or Smith score they move on anyway.
  8. Semantics but I'd call it very good. The Pirates and Dodgers crapping the bed late hurts a bit. But the fact that even if we lose tomorrow and everyone else wins, we'd only lose 1 game to the Brewers, Phillies and Padres, a 1/2 game to the Giants and would lose no ground to the Reds, Marlins and DBacks is great.
  9. Giants just lost to the A’s too. Anytime anyone makes a comment about how the Cubs have only beaten up on bad teams rhe pst few weeks, this weekend is a reminder that it’s not that easy.
  10. That’s a weird one. Something else must have happened for Ramirez to get so ticked. Like did he not like Anderson holding the tag or something? That kind of thing happens all the time.
  11. So Spurs then?
  12. 1/2 game to the Giants but whatever. That's an amazing result considering we played the best team in the league and three of the teams in the hunt played 3 of the worst 8 teams in the league and all were at home.
  13. Welp I’m done for the day. Will check back later.
  14. Let's do to Milwaukee what they did to us in 2018 (except let's just win the division outright). EDIT: 23.9% for the division, 38% for the playoffs per Fangraphs.
  15. Just get 1 against the Braves and it's fine.
  16. Is there a good reason to have not just left Merryweather in there? Only had thrown 14 pitches and the 7 hitter was up with nobody on base. Gave up the HR but also struck out 3 guys.
  17. You posted an article earlier about the rest of the world catching up to the US. Seems like the rest of the world is catching up in general. Just using the world rankings, three teams from Post 4 advanced, and none of them were New Zealand’s group. Four teams from Pot 3 advanced, including two that won their group (though Switzerland was in New Zealand’s group). Of the 6 top seeds that were in Pot 1, only three won their group and one (Germany) didn’t even advance. Seems like I’ve heard a few “first ever win at the World Cup” also.
  18. Was fun reading the first couple innings worth of posts. Lot of them aged quite poorly. And I’m sure had I actually been able to watch the game, I would have contributed a couple of those as well.
  19. Brewers were up 2-1 going into the ninth and then went fielding error, half swing bloop into LF, walk, grounder to third that was thrown wide of home allowing two runs to score.
  20. The Mets will forever provide entertainment to the rest of baseball and not in a way that Mets fans will like.
  21. The Cubs have the 5th best run differential in the majors. The Padres are 6th.
  22. If the Mets are involved, it’s probably them. Especially when this move is part of a roster blow up only 4 months after compiling a roster payroll over $300M. Love it.
