I see the Rose Bowl picking an SEC team for TV purposes. Florida (if they lose) or LSU. SEC vs Big Ten works well for TV purposes when it comes to the bowls. The sugar will take Louisville. That leaves the Orange Bowl. If Georgia Tech wins would they jump at a ND-GT rematch or go in another direction? That's the problem for ND is that two of the bowls could present possible rematches with ND. Obviously if Wake Forest wins then this problem is averted. I may be missing something but where does the Big East winner fit in? Either Rutgers or Louisville will have an automatic bid that I didn't see listed. If I'm not mistaken, I think the BE winner will go to the Sugar Bowl (someone correct me if I'm wrong). That would mean: Nat Title: OSU v USC Rose Bowl: Michigan v Fiesta Bowl: Boise St. v Oklahoma/Nebraska Orange Bowl: Wake Forest/Georgia Tech v Sugar Bowl: Florida/Arkansas v Rutgers/Louisville leaving loser of BE and loser of SEC championship plus LSU and Notre Dame to fill two spots. Arkansas and Rutgers are out if they lose, which would solve the problem. If they don't both lose, ND could miss a BCS berth. The Big East doesn't have a BCS bowl tie in so they are treated like an at-large team that gets "selected" by a bowl.

At large potential for: Notre Dame Florida/Arkansas loser LSU West Virginia The Rose will get the first choice of the at large because USC is going to the title game. I think Florida would get a BCS bowl if they lose to Arkansas in the SEC title game. If Arkansas loses, then LSU gets a berth. West Virginia will depend on how much they drop and if they beat Rutgers. Should be interesting. Note: I had Auburn and Rutgers on here but I don't think they'll make it. ETA: Louisville line. ETA #2: I'm assuming WVU beats Rutgers.

I hope we don't get a ND-Michigan Rose Bowl. That would be horrendous.

USC isn't believed to be "great". They are a solid team that has the ability to play very well but definitely has some weaknesses.

Assuming they beat UCLA, which I hope USC does, I look forward to a Ohio State-USC National Championship game.

OSU (the team you say Louisville would put 45 points on) disagrees. OSU is a very good team this year but when they are ranked among the historical greats, they just don't match up. I'm not sure many from the last several years do. Last years Texas team was a one man show. When Leinart said last year that they played really bad and they were the better team, I'm not so sure I disagreed. The thing was Vince Young had one of the best games EVER in that game. I don't think Texas' team last year is one of the greatest ever. Maybe USC's the year before, and definitely Miami's in 2001? But other than that, not many in the last ten years would beat the 1995 Nebraska team. Definitely 2001 Miami - that is a guarantee - as well as 2004 and 2005 USC. Could 2006 OSU stop 2005 Texas? I'm not so sure. So there are three teams, and maybe 4 in the past 5 years already better than 2006 OSU. They aren't an all-time great team. You won't remember 2006 OSU like 2001 Miami or the Leinart-Bush-White USC teams. You don't forget all-time great teams.

True. I still like Corso's goofy-ness though. In the same way that I like Tom & Jerry cartoons 8) I was referring just to May and Holtz. I like Corso and Herbstreit - Corso in the same way you do and Herbstreit because he actually knows football and provides useful insight.

I don't understand why ESPN employs Lou Holtz and allows him to speak on national television. The guy makes statements that hold absolutely no merit and are completely off base. Don't get me wrong, Mark May isn't great either, but at least he puts thought into his arguments and provides a good reasoning to go along with them. As an ND fan, Lou Holtz embarrasses me at this point. When someone tries to make an argument for your team and they are so horribly bad at it that it can easily be shot down by the whole country, the country can become convinced that there is no better argument out there. Every time Lou says something about ND, it just makes ND look weaker and weaker because of his horrible representation of the facts. I hope he retires-soon. He should stick to being a motivational speaker and leave it at that. Lou should not be a public speaker anywhere. Just a horrible voice. I'd rather listen to him speak than Mark May. May's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Add to that his nonsensical arguments and it becomes difficult to keep from V-Chipping ESPN off my channel list. Lou Holtz's arguments are WAY more nonsensical than May's are. Lou Holtz just says that South Carolina and Notre Dame are going to win and that's it. May at least provides realistic arguments (whether or not they are correct) and provides adequate logic and reasoning as to why he's arguing that side. Holtz doesn't. Like I said in my original post, I don't like May too much either but May is, by far, the lesser of two evils. Yeah, but you know Lou is just a rah-rah kind of guy. It's forgivable. With May, there's a sense that he should know better. I think we can agree that they both suck and shouldn't be on tv.

Our kicker has missed 5 extra points today - one of which was blocked and returned for 2 points by San Diego - meaning that our incompetant kicker has cost us 7 points today. I could understand one or two, especially since one was blocked, but 5? You have to try to miss 5 extra points.
