  1. I told one of my friends - a Notre Dame fan - earlier today that the Notre Dame offense would keep them in the game but the Notre Dame defense will have to win the game for them.
  2. Can you get an Albert Pujols jersey?
  3. True. I still like Corso's goofy-ness though. In the same way that I like Tom & Jerry cartoons 8) I was referring just to May and Holtz. I like Corso and Herbstreit - Corso in the same way you do and Herbstreit because he actually knows football and provides useful insight.
  4. I don't understand why ESPN employs Lou Holtz and allows him to speak on national television. The guy makes statements that hold absolutely no merit and are completely off base. Don't get me wrong, Mark May isn't great either, but at least he puts thought into his arguments and provides a good reasoning to go along with them. As an ND fan, Lou Holtz embarrasses me at this point. When someone tries to make an argument for your team and they are so horribly bad at it that it can easily be shot down by the whole country, the country can become convinced that there is no better argument out there. Every time Lou says something about ND, it just makes ND look weaker and weaker because of his horrible representation of the facts. I hope he retires-soon. He should stick to being a motivational speaker and leave it at that. Lou should not be a public speaker anywhere. Just a horrible voice. I'd rather listen to him speak than Mark May. May's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Add to that his nonsensical arguments and it becomes difficult to keep from V-Chipping ESPN off my channel list. Lou Holtz's arguments are WAY more nonsensical than May's are. Lou Holtz just says that South Carolina and Notre Dame are going to win and that's it. May at least provides realistic arguments (whether or not they are correct) and provides adequate logic and reasoning as to why he's arguing that side. Holtz doesn't. Like I said in my original post, I don't like May too much either but May is, by far, the lesser of two evils. Yeah, but you know Lou is just a rah-rah kind of guy. It's forgivable. With May, there's a sense that he should know better. I think we can agree that they both suck and shouldn't be on tv.
  5. UC Davis gets the ball back with 3:30 left and they're up 10. Here we come 37th straight winning season!!!
  6. Some of the Boise State players are wearing sombreros. Awesome.
  7. Our kicker has missed 5 extra points today - one of which was blocked and returned for 2 points by San Diego - meaning that our incompetant kicker has cost us 7 points today. I could understand one or two, especially since one was blocked, but 5? You have to try to miss 5 extra points.
  8. The ACC is the worst of the six major conferences this year and it's not even close and Boise State is more deserving of a BCS bowl than the ACC champion.
  9. Wisconsin isn't going to a BCS bowl. There is no chance. Michigan is an at large from the same conference and qualified for the title game.

  11. Touchdown Georgia. They should be going for two. And they get it. 15-12 Georgia. It's pretty bad for the ACC that the sixth best team in the SEC is on the verge of beating the team that could be the ACC champion.
  12. Boise State is absolutely destroying Nevada and has held them to just 50 yards of offense so far.
  13. Boise State up 24-0. There goes the second at-large BCS bid.
  14. And the Louisville-Pittsburgh game has quickly escalated to a blowout. 38-17 Louisville.
  15. Jon Madden analyzes baseball now? 99% of the time you score more runs than the other team, you win the game.
  16. OSU is going to have 2 shots at the endzone.

  18. I don't think Oklahoma wants to win the Big 12 South.
  19. Thats right guys...17-14 the last 2 weeks! With that I'm now only 30 games under .500 for the season :( Taking this week off BTW Gonna quit while you're ahead?
  20. That H.B. Blades is having one hell of a day so far.
  21. I thought it was incomplete, but I thought overturning it was the wrong call. To me it appeared that he caught it and took a step or two, but hey, I'm not a referee.
  22. That Louisville WR fumbled. It think it's pretty clear as well.
  23. Two should be the limit. If you can't finish top 2 in your conference you shouldn't go to a BCS bowl. The problem is that there are 6 major conferences, 1 possible spot for a minor conference team, and 1 possible spot for Notre Dame. There are 10 spots overall. What happens if both Notre Dame has a year where they don't make the BCS and there is no eligible minor conference team? That means that there will be 6 conference winners, and then 4 of the conferences will be forced to send a 2nd team-and some of those 2nd place teams might not be deserving. This year in the conferences is an example, where there are at least 3 conferences with no at-large teams eligible at this moment. (Pac-10, Big XII, ACC) The BCS is just lucky that 2 of those spots will be filled this year by Boise State and Notre Dame, or else there would be an extra spot with no team eligible to fill it. That's a good point. I feel it should be an 'if necessary' sort of thing though. If no other teams are eligible then you can have a third team. I just don't like the idea of a third place team in the BCS. And we can solve that really easily by having a 16 team playoff. No playoff.
  24. Boise St. in a BCS bowl would be a travesty. Outside of an early win against Oregon St, they have played absolutely no one. Just because a team goes undefeated against a high school schedule does not entitle them to a BCS game. Although it would be kind of fun to watch them get massacred. you have to feel bad for them though. That program has done a great job in recruiting and building a good team....not their fault that the rest of the conference is a joke. I think it's elitist to say that only teams from the 6 BCS conferences should be allowed to play in a BCS game. Boise St. has been pretty well punished in both the polls and computer, but staying undefeated has forced them in there. If they lose today, then no problem, they go to the whatever bowl. If ND loses tonight, would you still put them in as an at-large over BSU? If they are punished by both the Polls and the Computers, doesn't that actually mean something? That they face weak competition and they really aren't that good? I sorta agree that it would be an embarrassment to see them in the BCS. They'll get steamrolled. If they want to go, let them go, but they will get destroyed. Also, LOL, ND is pretty bad. Notre Dame's victories are about on par with Boise State. In fact, has Charlie Weis really beaten any quality opponent? Just a team who is likely to be their conference winner in a major conference this year with a chance to beat a 2nd conference winner tonight. What throws a monkey wrench into it is a 3 or 4 loss team or 2 that wins the Conference Championship. The Big East could screw it up too as they only have 8 teams and that increases the chances for a 3 loss team like Pitt a couple of years ago . It's not just limited to the Big East. Look at Florida State last year. ETA: Georgia Tech could lose today, win the ACC championship game, and go into a BCS bowl with 3 losses.
