  1. This was the first thing I noticed as well. If we don't resign him, the rest of the moves are basically worthless. We need ARam as a Cub in 2007.
  2. Time to grow up. You're sounding like an immature high school student. Someone who you just want to punch in the face. I thought CubsBullsBears got banned already. Apparently not. I dont know what I did to be even considered to be banned? Someone has been pushing my buttons over something really stupid. Maybe if that source would stop, I would stop. He is the one bringing up the Weaver thing in seemingly every thread now. Because you are saying you want to punch Vance in the face. Well, I just find it annoying that he would continue to bring up the whole Weaver subject. Its over with. Just drop it. When somebody (and by somebody I mean you) is so obviously wrong and yet refuses to admit they are wrong, it is hard to drop. Either way, you don't say you want to punch another poster.
  3. Wouldn't hurt to inquire. Re-sign ARam, put Soriano in CF, Young at SS, and all of a sudden your offense looks a whole lot better. Then you go after the pitching problems. IIRC, his natural position is 2B so we could put him there also. His production would be very nice at either position though.
  4. Izturis and Restovich are coming your way then! I think they will want more than that. Throw in Augie Ojeda and it's a done deal. We'll even give them Glendon to replace Buehrle. Gotta have that lefty starter.

  6. I'm surprised there has been only a few posts on this topic. I think it was dumb to start Verlander, for a couple reasons. First off, this game was a must win. Rogers had been unhittable all postseason. Verlander hadn't pitched too well. You absolutely have to go with the guy who gives you the best chance to win in an eliminateion game, and Rogers was clearly that guy. If Rogers won, then Verlander could've started game 6... at home. I imagine his nerves would've been calmer pitching in front of his home town, rather than pitching in a cold and rainy Busch Stadium. You can't think about how you have to win three games. You have to win one game before you can think about the next two. Yeah, Verlander would have gotten to pitch in an even colder and potentially rainy (remember there was rain/snow in the forecast for Detroit for Saturday and Sunday) Comerica Park.

  8. You too, huh? George Costanza came up with "it's not you, it's me".
  9. Definitely Captain Morgan.
  10. Keep waiting. Ohio State aint gonna play them for the NC  But yeah, i know what you are saying. WV has no shot at NC, their defense is awful and will get rolled against a good team offensive. Their offense would not blow up against a good defense either. OSU or UM defense will stomp on that one dimensional run oriented spread offense. Did you see the Sugar Bowl last year? Georgia was 11th in total defense and 4th in scoring defense but WVU torched them for 500 yards and 38 points. Don't get me wrong, I would pick OSU/Michigan over WVU but I wouldn't count them out. Same goes for Louisville who actually has a better all around offense than WVU does.
  11. Are you being sarcastic? If not, the computers are so wrong is so many ways it's not even funny. Don't get me wrong, I love that Cal actually gets some respect but please.
  12. Winner likely gets the opportunity to get killed by Texas in the Big XII title game? Nebraska had Texas all but beat last week. Mizzou went to Tech and handled them on their homecoming while Texas needed a big comeback to beat them in a rivalry game. On the other hand, Texas did handle OU while Mizzou lost to them at home. Add in the fact that the game is being played in KC, I don't think that either team will get humiliated if they play Texas(who could lose the South if aTm wins their rivalry game). It's not going to be nearly as bad as last year's Big XII title game but I still think Texas will win easily.
  13. Actually the Rich Hill example is more of a shot at the posters (including myself) that dismissed Hill as a starter after the 4 starts he made early in the year in which he had an ERA over 9 IIRC. Hill got 12 starts later in the year and pitched much better. What do you think is a better example of Hill as a major league pitcher, the 4 starts or the 12 starts?
  14. No. It's not how he was pitching in the playoffs. It's how he pitched in the regular season. Weaver sucked in the regular season. Verlander didn't. Going into the postseason nobody in their right mind would have picked Weaver over Verlander. It's insane. It's how he pitched in the playoffs that matters. That's my opinion. And my point, along with many other people's, is that going into the postseason and based on Weaver's regular season you couldn't have predicted he would pitch well in the postseason. Hence the reason the postseason is a crapshoot. At most a team will play 19 games. For a pitcher that's 5 or 6 starts. That's called small sample size. 5-6 starts in a post-season should tell how good a pitcher is. It's not really a "sample size" in my opinion. So 5-6 starts tell you more than 31? I think you can make a pretty darn good judgement on a pitcher in 5-6 starts. You don't need a pitcher to make 31 starts to judge them. Hell, I could judge most pitchers by a couple of starts. You don't need a pitcher to make 31 starts to judge them but 31 starts is a much better judgement of a pitcher than 5-6 starts. It's basic statistics.

  19. I would put USC ahead of ND right now. I wouldn't. USC lost to Oregon State for crying out loud. Not to mention that they were extremely close to losing to Washington State and Washington. USC was extremely overrated. And Notre Dame isn't? Cubweiser is right. They both are overrated, but USC has looked extremely unimpressive all year long. ND's loss came against a team that is ranked #2 in the nation while USC's loss came against a team that isn't worthy of being top 50 in the nation. That fact alone is why I believe ND should be ranked ahead of USC. And USC killed Arkansas on the road.

  21. That should be a great game. Hopefully I'll get to watch it before heading to work.

  23. I would put USC ahead of ND right now.
  24. My top 10: 1. Ohio St. 2. Michigan 3. WVU 4. Louisville 5. Florida 6. Texas 7. Tennessee 8. California 9. Arkansas 10. Auburn
