  1. Assuming I did the math right - (1-(Win%)^2)^20 - the Cubs had roughly a 0.5% chance of going 20 years without starting 2-0. I just used the aggregate winning percentage over the 20 years.
  2. Dear opposing teams: If you see our 8-9-1 coming up in an inning, I'd recommend taking advantage of it. It won't end well if you don't.
  3. Forgot about the DH for a second and I was annoyed that Szczur was in the OF instead of Soler.
  4. [tweet]https://twitter.com/GoonerManN5/status/717437812568694784[/tweet] Yeah, I missed this during the game because I wasn't paying too close attention in the first half. He's definitely my least favorite player in soccer right now.
  5. In the 10 minutes after he gave Atletico Madrid the lead at Barcelona, Fernando Torres got sent off for two stupid fouls, particularly the second one.
  6. There was at least one guy on GWRB last night who kept reacting to Heyward's AB's like he was relieved he didn't have to "deal with those anymore," like it was this ordeal to suffer through a 6 WAR player last year. Dealt with it all last season. Tons of meatheads out there that will bitch about him all year. There will be some on this board doing it. 100% guarantee that Rondon Fan will be one.
  7. Glad to see they took Jake out. No need to stretch him first start of the year with a 6 run lead.
  8. First time since May 2012 he's given up 7 runs in a game.
  9. I'd put it above that one only because that one was a missed shot and putback. This one had the game tying 3 by Paige followed by the winner. The Butler one against Duke would have been better if Hayward's shot went in. Not only would it have been a half court shot but it would have turned a loss into a win instead of a tie into a win.
  10. I'll be watching tonight but I won't have to stay up until 1 a.m. to do so.
  11. Rizzo's stance looks more closed than last year. His front foot is on the chalk.
  12. While it's unclear which position the Raiders are targeting, it will be a big shock if their first pick isn't a defensive player. They signed a CB and a LB/DE in free agency so I'll go with... DT Sheldon Rankins, Louisville.
  13. If Daniel Sturridge wasn't amazingly selfish and lazy L'pool would have won 3-1. Spurs were lucky to draw. For sure. It's certainly a good result for Spurs, especially the way the game went. Realistically, they probably need to win five games to win the title, and a draw in the sixth would be nice. That would give them either 77 or 78 points and Leicester would need 4 wins and a draw (if it's 78) to win the title, which certainly isn't a given. That being said, I don't think it happens. Spurs lost the title in the first half when they drew every other game (they were 6-8-2 at one point) and then the home loss to Leicester in January in a game they should have won. Win that and they'd be 2 points up right now instead of 4 back.
  14. If Leicester wins tomorrow, I think we can call the title race.
  15. Is there not broadcast video of this? http://vid64.photobucket.com/albums/h184/soccer10k/barrettgrandslam040906.mp4
