  1. I'll predict the draw gives us Bayern-City and Atletico-Real. No way they'll able to pass up Pep against his new club. EDIT: Or Barca in place of Atletico if they get through.
  2. did they play it yet? Edit: nevermind I heard it. That was as monotone of a call as you will ever hear. Yeah, that call was great.
  3. Like most on the board, I never doubted the Cubs would get something going against the Reds. With the win, they're in sole possession of first place and trail only Baltimore for the best record in the majors. Simon started 5 games against the Cubs with the Reds in 2014 and pitched extremely well, allowing only 5 R in 32 2/3 IP. But those were the old Cubs and Simon is both old and not good. Hopefully the Cubs can do some damage early and often, Lackey pitches better and the Cubs wrap up another series win. Off days suck, but the Cubs certainly don't.
  4. I'm torn. I absolutely loved him playing it tonight. And part of me thinks it would be cool to hear it once per game, as a nod to Starlin, and because it is awesome. But, part of me says we need to move on from the past to other fun and exciting new things. Eh, [expletive] it, play it very game. Did Rizzo use a different walk up song each time he batted tonight like he did last year? I'd love it if he used it once per game.
  5. Spring training stats for the win!
  6. The Cubs return home after a successful 5-1 road trip to start the year with a chance to claim sole possession of first place. Finnegan has never faced the Cubs in his short career and while his numbers in his short major league career look good so far, they will be noticeably worse after this game is played.
  7. That was the most enjoyable 5-10 minute stretch since Spurs came back from 1-0 down to beat City 3-1 with 3 goals in 10 minutes in Bale's last season. Would have been better if Leicester didn't win also but I wanted at least 4 points from these two games and got it. Plus this drastically increased Spurs's odds of UCL next year.
  8. I wake up and check my phone to see that Leicester is tied 0-0. In the three minutes it took me to get up, get dressed and turn on the TV, they were up 1-0. Probably no point in watching the rest of this one. And now Rodwell misses an absolute sitter. Even the Cardinals would be amazed by how lucky Leicester is.
  9. Cubs took care of business against Greinke on Saturday and returned to their winning ways. In this one, they face Shelby Miller, a pitcher they scored 8 runs against on 10 hits and 8 walks in two outings last year. This game will be a rematch of the last year's first meeting, a game in which Jake went 7 scoreless and the Cubs did enough against Miller in a 3-1 win. Two straight series wins to start the year would be quite nice. Get it done, Cubs.
  10. Ho hum, 90 pitches through 5 for Greinke.
  11. I was amazed the linesman didn't put his flag up on West Ham's second goal considering he blew the one early in the game. The second one was a tougher play to tell and he got that one right.
  12. I wasn't aware the Cubs were allowed to actually lose games but they probably did this for us to keep the march to a title at least somewhat interesting. Regardless, they'll surely get back on the winning track against Greinke.
  13. Colby Rasmus doesn't seem like a guy who cares to take time to learn the intricacies of new rules. What a terrible slide into 2B, if he spent 1 minute learning the new rule he would know he couldn't do that. The worst part was it was so unnecessary. There was no chance Milwaukee turns the double play unless Altuve falls, tries to get back up and falls again. At least with Bautista there could have been a play at first.
  14. Yep. If you told me he'd be out 3-4 months and be back healthy in July or August, I'd take it in a heartbeat.
  15. He certainly didn't sound like a guy about to resign when he was on Zach Lowe's podcast earlier this week.
  16. Couldn't get the DBacks to 200 pitches. Only threw 195.
  17. http://www.baseball-reference.com/games/streaks.cgi?games=7&year=ALL&SHOW=TOT&includes=start_year&game_start=10&game_end=135&teams=CHC&orderby=wins&submit=Find+Streaks 7-0 in 1934.
  18. Marcelo is high up the list also. Kicks out at a Wolfsburg player, picks up the ball and head butts the player as he's lifting his head up and then flops down as if the Wolfsburg player actually did something. And yet somehow both get yellows.
  19. In the "didn't see this one coming" department, Wolfsburg is up 2-0 on Real at halftime.
  20. Costa's probably second for me only because I haven't hated him as long as Suarez. Fellaini is up there also.
  21. 2 games left against the Spurs. Hmmm Thought they would get to 73 before tonight, now I think they end up tied. I think they'll split with SA and beat Memphis twice. The second SA game will be the second game of a back to back and the third game in four days.
