    Cubs run differential is now +89 through 25 games. Since 1900, only the 1902 Pirates (+97) and the 1905 Giants (+94) are better.

    Except I sort of feel like the CL Finals could be boring as hell with Athletico in it. Hopefully it won't be. Man City better advance tomorrow. I have no desire to watch an all Spanish final again.

    I'm in the same boat. I think they'll finish in the 6-10 range or so. They're 14-2 in games decided by 1 goal this year. That's not going to happen next year. Between losses and ties, you can probably take off 10-15 points. They got 11 penalties this year, which is only the eighth time since 2002-03 that a team has taken more double digit PKs in a season. In the year before and year after each of those seasons, those teams averaged 5.3 penalties per season. So you can take off a couple points for that also (there will be some overlap with the above stat). This year was the weakest the EPL has been at the top. City will be better next year with Pep coming in. Chelsea will be better with Conte. Liverpool will probably be better in their second year under Klopp. And you've still got Spurs, Arsenal and ManU. I know they'll have more money coming in between the UCL and the EPL TV money but if the big clubs want somebody like Mahrez or Kante, they'll be gone. So how many of their players they keep will be a major factor as well. I think they'll finish in the 55-60 point range which will put them between 6th and 9th in the table.

    It was pure frustration. It's a long season and they could see their title hopes fading against a major rival. Sure, I get that, but it that's Diego Costa stamping on Cesc like Lamela did or assaulting Ivanovic like Dier did people would be braying for significant bans. Clattenburg let it get way, way out of hand, especially in stoppage time. Both guys should have been tossed. Yeah, Clattenburg set the tone early when he didn't card Rose or. Chelsea player a few minutes later. He motioned after the Chelsea one that it was even.

    I wouldn't put it that way. They drew on he road against a very talented team that was clearly motivated to not lose. Leicester was going to win the title against Everton next week.

    So far so good. Odds of a red card being shown in he second half seem pretty high also.

    That was probably inside the box but refs rarely give those borderline ones as PKs.

    Don't worry. ManU has way more possession, more shots and more shots on goal which means Leicester will pull out a 2-1 win. It would be better if they won the title at home next week anyway.

    Yeah, that's weird. Surely there was someone at any other position there that they liked. I guess they felt they needed a backup and liked Cook falling that far and couldn't pass him up.

    16-5 is the second best start for the Cubs in the WS era behind 1907, which started 17-4. The +74 run differential is the fourth best after 21 games since 1900, and 18 better than the previous Cubs record (1929). Despite the record, the 1907 team managed only a +25 run differential through 21 games because they had 8 wins by 1 run and 5 by 2.

    There have been 21 instances this year (by 14 different teams) of a team hitting at least 4 home runs in a game.

    I enjoyed the single to left where he said it was line to left and that Javy made a great play on the bounce. For a split second, I thought Javy caught it. All he had to do was say liner to left that drops in before the Baez part.

    I love this. The actual video is full of the dumbest logic ever. My goodness that video is amazing. "Innings pitched over the last two years 156 and then last year 229. Before then, for three years before then, Skip, he pitched 75 innings, 23.2 innings - only started three games at that time - and then of course you have 51.2 innings." So this was an exact quote. Stephen A. Smith doesn't know how to read B-R (this is not the least bit surprising). Those three years he talked about were actually one year. He threw 75.1 overall in 2013, 23.2 with Baltimore and the rest with the Cubs. And not only that, Stephen A doesn't know how to read numbers because Jake started 5 games with Baltimore that year. Nevermind that he also threw 79.1 in AAA in 2013, because apparently those don't count. His actual innings count by years starting 2011 was 119.1, 170.2, 154.2, 176.2, 229

    Second best 20-game start for the Cubs since 1900. Only one better was 1907, when they started 16-4. They've started 14-6 on six occasions. Related note, I was wondering when the 1906 team got so hot, since they also started 14-6, so I looked up the schedule. At one point, they were 68-30, which was a pace of 105.4 wins. They then finished 48-6, including a stretch of 37-2 with winning streaks of 11, 14 and 12.

    The good thing is that we are good enough that we will have a chance to hit that benchmark at several different intervals this season. The top-5 RDs after 21 games are 91, 86, 84, 73 and 71.

    A little less wind and Fowler has a grand slam earlier so that would have cut the lead to 2 or 3.
