  1. This is such a confounding post. Man, you really have dug your heels in on this.
  2. The next time we see Schwarber...
  3. He's trying to squeeze an extra year of service time out of Schwarber to offset the cost.
  4. and you only jumped the gun by a month, too!
  5. Would you be in favor of trading Eloy Jimenez for him? No, because of his arm injuries. Were it not for those, I'd have to think about it because the performance(and team control) is what you'd want with the opportunity to get even better(AL to NL, poor framing and defensive team, etc). Fair enough. I'd still have to think long and hard even if there were no health issues in his past. That may just be a general aversion to trading hitting for pitching, though, even though I know we're getting to the point that it probably has to be done one way or another.

  7. Bryant has an OPS of .904, and is still at .808 OPS in the month of June. Last year, when he won the MVP, his OPS entering June 21 was .898. His OPS entering June 27 was .877. He's actually walking more than ever too (15.9%, career-best was 11.8), and his .291 BABIP will likely move up to .330 or so (it was .332 last year and .378 in 2015). His K rate is a career-best 21.3%, though it was even below 20 a couple weeks ago. He's definitely pressing a bit right now and expanding the zone, as well as swinging through or fouling off hangers. But it just looks like a normal slump that happens for everyone (Rizzo goes through like 5 of these a year). He admitted he was dealing with some fatigue and Joe gave him that extra day off. He should be just fine, and will likely go on a tear soon. Definitely not displeased at all with the season he's having, but I feel in order for the offense to really get on a roll, we need him to click back into place. He's just not seeing the ball too well the last week and change. This isn't a doom boner, either. Just simply stating that one half of Bryzzo is on point right now and if the other gets back on track, our offense should really take off. Yeah, it definitely seems that we haven't had both of them clicking at the same time yet this season. That will definitely change.
  8. you shut the horsefeathers up right now I feel really ashamed I even said it. I take it all back. Eloy is going to be all the best parts of Stanton, Cabrera, Bryant and what Soler was supposed to be. I'm sorry, Eloy!

  10. [tweet] [/tweet] bobcats, huh? that's a really tough break for Howard.
  11. The thought of trading Eloy for Sonny Gray makes me ill. The sickness likely would not be terminal. Gray's really good, but I can get why given the recent arm stuff. IIRC last I checked, I wrote a post and it fell through, he was throwing harder, getting more whiffs, more groundballs, and more popups. Ha. Yeah, it's almost entirely based on the recent health stuff. I was a big fan of his prior to that. I absolutely love Eloy, but I'm not against trading him for the right guy, as much as I'd hate to see him go. I just think, given the health concerns, the Cubs can and should aim a little higher. But there's a lot of folks on this board pining for Gray, so maybe I'm more concerned than I should be about the recent injuries.

  13. man, being a bulls fan is so frustrating almost all of the time, but it's always nice to be able to look at the knicks and realize how much worse it could be. what a wreck. Yeah, I guess they are delusional they can still win with Melo. As Bulls fans would you trade Jimmy for Porzingis and swap first round picks this year (jump from 16 to 8)? If the Knicks really think they can win with Melo and need more help I think they'd go for that. that's tough. Jimmy's the better present-day player to me and he is under contract for an extra year. but Porzingis is so damn good already and is only 21, so he still has the potential to get so much better. it would at least signify that the bulls are ready to embrace the current style of NBA basketball. i don't know enough about this year's draft to place any kind of accurate value on those picks, but the bulls would probably horsefeathers the pick up and take a slow ass senior from iowa state or some horsefeathers either way so who cares i guess.

  15. Bert blyleven is a hall of famer so this means lackey is actually good whoa
  16. oh do all of the ballparks have indoor bullpens now?
  17. didn't theo & co. rate him much more highly than other teams because he aced the neuroscouting tests that they were just beginning to implement at the time? yeah i just found it https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/02/18/neuroscouting-may-give-red-sox-heads-prospects-potential/EFBHR3zNdThk1NboRpNMHL/story.html it was talked about in the Verducci book, too, actually. i wasn't sure how other teams felt about him, but i know he flew up the red sox list with those tests. the book also talks about how he had a stronger reputation as a bowler than a baseball player.
  18. was he an old school overslot or just a great diamond in the rough find? didn't theo & co. rate him much more highly than other teams because he aced the neuroscouting tests that they were just beginning to implement at the time?
  19. the length of time between the 2nd and 3rd picks was so hilariously long that i stopped following after that. gotta speed up the pace of draft.
  20. i can't stop laughing about the drinking and driving post
  21. Your first transaction on April 11th when Gary Sanchez was injured, was for Jake Lamb. Please make a different selection. lol whoops. add Stanton.
  22. yeah, especially in the middle of a 13 day stretch without an off day, i'm more than fine with them not pushing him, especially since there's at least some depth in the pen.
  23. What are some examples of this? Not doubting at all, but it's not something I know off the top and it's a tough thing to search. As far as early picks go, Ian Happ & Pierce Johnson both played a few seasons in the Cape Cod League. Hatch spent some time there in 2014 as well.
