  1. alex avila is the most boring ongoing rumor i can remember. not that i don't want him, but damn. the cubs have been trying to acquire this one specific backup catcher for a month.
  2. bring back plesac and the big blue train
  3. yes, and also Hector's and Grimm It's a real team effort.
  4. The Yankees are the team I can most easily see blowing us outta the water.
  5. I feel like this is where all these trade rumors for guys like Darvish, Gray, Britton, etc. end. Not going on anything concrete, but I don't think Theo's looking to trade anyone off the 25-man. Given that, I don't think we have what it takes for any of the top arms on the market. These rumors all seem like due diligence and driving up the price for other teams.
  6. A Darvish package likely includes Happ, Baez or Schwarber as the lead piece, right? I feel like for a pitcher of his caliber, any offer without one of those three can easily be beaten by any other team interested in him. And if you do need to include one of those guys, do you?
  7. I'd also be willing to sweeten the pot with a horse and a seal.
  8. Just give them Grimm back.
  9. I'm personally not wild about relying too heavily on Koji in the playoffs. He's been a bit less reliable of late, can't go back to back days, and has stuff that might be exposed facing elite lineups. And Rondon was all but dead like 3 weeks ago. And I certainly wouldn't mind a LHP to slot ahead of Monty & Duensing. That said, I don't think the Cubs are going to meet the asking price for Wilson, Hand, or Britton. Every team in contention wants to strengthen their bullpens, so they'll each be really pricey in terms of player cost. So I don't really see much happening.
  10. Wtf do we need a bullpen arm for I was really into the idea of a reliever, but if Rondon is actually good again and Monty is ticketed to go back to the pen, it's not really much of a need.
  11. it'll be just like the four game sweep in milwaukee at the end of july in 2008 that gave us a 5 game lead. except just 3 games this time around.
  12. Unfortunately, though, the Pirates lead 1-0 http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Ron-Swanson-Says-Dont-Even-Care.gif
  13. I was listening to the Pirates radio broadcast early in the game and they kept referring to Josh Harrison as J-Hey and it was making me irrationally angry.
  14. it took me like 11 years to figure out how to post gifs.
  15. horsefeathers yeah. Put him out to pasture, Theo. Do it. One more starter. he had a nice night last night. good time to sell high. i hear the brewers are looking for another starter.
  16. yeah, not that i think it's a bad trade, necessarily, because he obviously carries some value according to prospect writers, but it sounds like he profiles as a LF, and he really hasn't shown the power to be an everyday LF.
