Reed, Swarzak, Nicasio, Kintzler and Shaw are the names that jump out at me. Lots of options from the right side. McGee is the only lefty there that intrigues me. Last offseason there was talk of trading for Colome or Edwin Diaz. Both kind of had down years this season, but I'd still be interested in either. Can they be had at the right price, and are their down years cause for long-term concern?

yeah, i'm feeling pretty good heading into the announcement. every writer out there seems quite confident he'll choose illinois. but of course, i'm leaving room for the usual illinois-recruitment disappointment.

There was an article a year or two ago that talked about expansion and relocation. If I remember correctly, the general plan was to relocate Oakland and Tampa first and then add two expansion teams, so the end result is 32 teams with 4 new cities getting franchises. I'm curious if that's still the goal and what other two cities would wind up with franchises. I want to say Nashville, Indiana, Mexico City, Puerto Rico, a third Texas team, and the Carolinas were all mentioned as possibilities at that time. I'm not so worried about diluting talent, as the expansion of the talent pool (population growth, international signings, etc.) has outpaced the expansion of the league. But it is definitely a concern as to whether there are cities out there to support franchises. I'm not a traditionalist by any means, but getting rid of the NL/AL setup would take some getting used to.

Walked a couple guys also though. Yeah, he had a couple of close misses on full counts, he hadn't had his command desert him. And he finished the inning by inducing weak contact from the last 2 hitters. If you want to go to the bullpen there, fine. He threw a couple pitches on Thursday, 3rd time thru the order, 2 runs given up last inning. But giving him a short leash in the 6th would've been fine too. Right, the walks weren't such that I lost faith in him. He was trying to make pitches on the outside edge and missing close.

12 pitches. You're watching the game right? He was finished. Yes. At 89 pitches, one hard hit and two walks that weren't so much wild as they were nibbling on the outside edge, I'll take my chances on another inning from him over trying to squeeze 4 outta this bullpen that's taxed and struggling mightily.

Yes, you get the opportunity to pick a 25 man roster each round. Last year they took out a position player for another reliever for the NLCS, probably because of the 5 to 7 game series shift. so you're telling me lackey is probably safe?
