  1. meh. they'll just use the money to give tommy pham and paul dejong extensions or something.
  2. i really need quintana to go on a run of excellence starting tonight, mostly because i'm sick of listening to people irl whine about the trade. do it for me, jose.
  3. I don't believe he is our best SS going forward. At least not in terms of offensive upside. I believe J. Baez can be just as good as A. Russell on defense if he cleans up a few things. He has unquestionably the strongest arm on the team. He makes plays no one else can make, including A. Russell. J. Baez is improving and getting better... I can't say the same thing for A. Russell. I really haven't seen any improvements from A. Russell at the plate or in his approach. I really doubt he improves much beyond hitting for more power. He should be getting better, but I'm almost positive his scouting report says "Don't throw him a fastball in the zone" and "really struggles to hit good breaking pitches inside and outside the zone". I mean the same thing can be said for Baez too. Baez is showing some improvement, but occasionally regresses and goes back into his bad habits. Look, I'm fine with keeping him (Russell). I said he's still super valuable because of his defense and power at SS, but I think Baez is better and has better chance of reaching his ceiling now. No harm in exploring trades for this kind of talent. I never said T. Turner for A. Russell...I said for a "T. Turner + J. Ross" type package. Personally, I do like T. Turner more than A. Russell as well, but I doubt Washington would even consider doing a Turner for Russell 1-for-1 swap. T. Turner is the better player and has a much higher upside IMO. I have no problem trading Russell for prospects, but they would have to be excellent consensus Top 100 prospects. you accidentally called a. russell by just his last name a couple times, please consider editing oh thanks i was so confused which Russell he was referring to there.
  4. yeah but i bet it's a 100% k rate in clutch situations. how was that?
  5. Why would we trade our 23 year old SS who already has 8 career WAR for a SS prospect? Prospect? He's put up 5.1 WAR in less than a full season. The real question is why would the Nats do that deal? no one is talking about trading Russell for actual Joe Ross and actual Trea Turner. R. Show's idea is to trade him for a package similar to the Turner-Ross package the Nats got from San Diego when they traded Souza a few years ago.
  6. Grimm is technically on the DL right? And its probably not a fake injury because he has options and has already gone down to Iowa a couple of times. Just pointing that out because we don't know for sure (unless I missed some news because who pays attention to news about Justin Grimm) if he's healthy to come up on 9/1. i think they mentioned during the broadcast either yesterday or the day before that he is preparing to go on a rehab assignment.
  7. i'll be disappointed if the cubs don't give davis a qualifying offer. unless there are luxury tax implications to doing so, i'd be fine with him at 1 year $18 million or whatever.

  9. I always knew lackey would be the guy to record a 21 strikeout game
  10. haunted* cardinals lose *by the probably still drunk ghosts of their former players
  11. maybe cardinal fans are pissed that garcia didn't get to be on dancing with the stars
  12. ohhh now do world series rings!
  13. I probably would've guessed Baez. although he gets somewhat shielded against righties and shared time with three other middle infielders, so I guess that makes sense. Schwarber also batted 1-2 for the first 2 months while Baez has mostly been buried at the bottom Yup, almost edited that into my post. Still feels weird that Schwarber would be third though.

  15. what is happening here? I asked the Cubs to score 15 runs after they fell down 9-0, so I'm just updating myself. oh, ok. carry on then.
  16. Well regardless of how well you post, you are still the 2nd best Navin to post at NSBB. Cool. I may change my screen name to Avis then.
  17. the pirates and cardinals are a combined 7-16 against the reds and that's all the proof you should need that the pirates and cardinals suck
