    he did have perfect mechanics. he altered them. that's what led to the achilles injury, and it's all been downhill from there. It's late, but wasn't it the other way around? Yes it was.

    I've been busy all offseason and really only payed attention to the Cub's moves. I'm used to hearing the Yanks sign every available FA regardless of if he fits their needs, but I didn't see much about them. Did they improve at all?

    For everything that Sammy did for the Cubs while he was here, I hope he makes the team and has a great season with the Rangers. Realistically, if he makes the team at all, I have to assume he'll have a rough time hitting ML pitching at this stage in his career after a year off. But who knows, maybe a year to reflect and a change of scenery will do him well. Time will tell.

    I believe the last play that Hendry aqcuired that was like Izturis (Hadn't had a great carreer or lived up to his hype) that the fans all hated before the season was Michael Barrett. That guy had NO chance of improving. Although I'm sure there are a million and a half reasons why that is not a valid comparison, and I'm sure I'm about to hear every one of them.

    This is actually part of the reason he might not make the HOF. Great player, but he never really got the exposure he deserved because he played in HOU, and was always overshadowed by McGwire/Sosa/etc.

    I haven't really been paying attention to their off-season moves, but everybody is ignoring the Reds, and I think that might be a bad idea.

    True, but Pujols was the best player on the WS champ's roster. Without him they would have probably not made the playoffs. Plus, most of the voters suck and vote for the bigger name, which is pujols.

    Meh, we are about a .500 team right now. Thats nothing to be too proud of. We still need a top of the line pitcher to replace Wood (Or, rather, what we kept hoping Wood would give us). The pitchers that have been talked about recently, such as Westbrook, Meche, Padilla... aren't going to cut it. I wouldn't mind signing Marquis or Westbrook as a 5th, but we'll need something better to compete. Z Prior _____ Marshall/Hill/Marmol Westbrook/Marquis

    Will someone please explain to me why people still think of Soriano as a leadoff hitter? Will someone please explain to me why Hendry is going after Carlos Lee? One of two possible good reasons: A) As negotiating leverage with others (if you don't sign, we'll get somebody else). B) Because he's planning on dumping Jones and thinking of all possible OF options. One really terrible reason: He thinks Lee should replace Murton. Maybe he's just bluffing so that Aram will think that they are making progress and re-sign with us. Then once that is done he'll go back to his normal self?
