  1. Well this helps. Soto RBI single followed by a Pagan homer, 5-3 and right back in it, Brewers losing 1-0 last I checked.
  2. I swear if I hear this crap 1 more time, Im going to bang my head repeatedly into a wall. THE CUBS HAVE BEEN WINNING IN SPITE OF THEIR CATCHERS, what part of that is hard to figure out. The Cubs starting pitchers were pitching just fine the entire month of April with Barret catching also, so whats your point Catcher is a defensive position, dude.
  3. Catcher is a defensive position. Obviously, it shouldn't be THAT pathetic offensively, but the fact is our pitching for the most part has been superb since Barrett's departure. Two easy outs at the #8 and #9 hole is definitely a bad thing, but we did manage to score 9 runs off of a guy named Roy Oswalt today, so it's not exactly killing us at the moment. With any luck, Soto can provide at least a little bit of offense out of the catcher spot.
  4. Either that's a typo or A-rod has an insane amount of RBIs for this point in the season. I voted for him.
  5. Another funny thing about that video was watching Pierre throw a baseball.
  6. Ah yes. The old "you can't win and develop players at the same time" argument. And the "give the kid a taste and he'll figure out the rest back at the farm" argument. Very Dustyesque. I never said that you can't win and develop at the same time, though I do appreciate you putting words in my mouth. If Pie was performing there is no doubt he'd be in the lineup. There are better options right now, especially with the desire to trade Jones. Nobody is going to want him if he's sat on the bench for 2 straight months.
  7. You guys need to chill out on this, really. Pie was a great option for us when we sucked. Let the young guy get at bats in a season that's pretty much a waste. Our team got hot, and we're now right in the middle of what looks like it will be a great playoff race, and running Pie out there just won't cut it if we want to win. Everybody in this organization knows that Pie is the centerfielder of the future. We let him get a taste of big league action, he knows now what he has to do to adjust to being a big league player. Starting Jones for a while makes perfect sense. He had a really nice season last year, but got benched when he started slowly this season (Just like Pie got benched when he started sucking) He has a big contract, it's time to showcase him for a trade and hope that he produces enough for some GM to take the bait.
  8. We got Lofton and Aram in 03...along with Doug Glanville. We got Garciaparra in 04 We got Lawton in 05 (<- lol) I guess if there is a decent catcher or outfielder available we could try to pick him up, I don't really see it happening this year though since we were unable to deal Jones already because of the league (apparently)
  9. Ugh... I don't want to see Belliard bat in this game.
  10. He hasn't owned anybody recently. I'm not too worried. Howry seems to be pitching well judging by the first 2 pitches.
  11. Ugh...bad pitch. At least we have a decent pitcher in now!
  12. For whoever asked, yes this would be as far over .500 that the Cubs have been this season. I believe they said that May 6th of last season was the last time they were 2 over.
  13. They showed Ohman coming in. I guess with 2 lefties due up he's the closer for tonight... ew.
  14. This made me laugh considering the Izzy/Aram video, but being that this is a family board, I'll stop there.
  15. Yeah I have it set as my desktop, it works OK but I'd prefer a bigger image so it wasn't stretched at all.
  16. Our chances will be decided at the end of August when we face the brewers in a 3 game set. If we pass that test and are still in the race, it will come down to, most likely, the last games of the season. If we manage to narrow the gap, I like our more experienced team. If we put pressure on the young Brewers they just may fold.
  17. back space and try again Can't, but I'm sure I can just clear my history and cookies.
  18. Hm.. I accidentally put my birthday in 1997 instead of 1987, making me ineligible to vote. ......crap
  19. He's probably spent the past month or so voting for himself non stop. I wouldn't put it past him.
  20. No, I think Ramirez will make the team, too.
