  1. 4 QBs has been mentioned, but they haven't said anything about Griese being one of them. Every writer who follows the Bears has said Griese has pissed somebody off and is as good as gone. Angelo has said it's Orton vs Grossman for starting QB, and Orton has been extended. It would be a major upset if Griese returns. Wouldn't suprise me if he wants out now. He probably thought the starting job would be his by now.

:rotfl: This is yet another guy that Isaiah Thomas genuinely thought would be good for this team. I hope they keep Ike forEVER.
  3. Maybe its just Iowans :-" not cool  Just joking Iowans, but seriously, I cant believe there are people this dumb. Been to baseball game recently? Hell, any sporting event really. I often enjoy just sitting back and listening to some of the comments that people make at the game.
  4. Haha. This thread is actually a better stream of consciousness thread than, well, the stream of consciousness thread.
  5. But that *is* an enabler, IMO. If you're pretty sure there's a problem and you just ignore it, that's enabling. Sure, he's not responsible for what others do, but the idea isn't that he should be held culpable, just that he likely knows it is happening and pretty much actively decides to do nothing about it. At least, not until someone dies.
  6. Here comes the classic Cubs snowball effect. First it's just precautionary. Now we're talking surgery and out for a month. Next it will be the All-Star break. And finally, DeRo out for the year. Only the Cubs.
  7. I just booked a room through priceline for ~$100/night. Got the Holiday Inn at the Merchandise Mart. I thought I struck out, but I read some reviews on Trip Advisor and apparently it's not half bad. More than one person said it has some of the best views around. It's right on the brown line, so getting to Wrigley will be just a matter of making one train switch. Take the brown line to destinations near the mag mile, probably a 5 min train ride to get to the dwntwn action. I'm happy.
  8. '08: the year of nsbb backlash? LOL, I didn't know this little site would produce such vitriol. Tim: get your DoS blockers in tip top shape, because that's what is usually next you know.
  9. Thread's not over until I say it is!! ok [/thread]
  10. Clark has been good since coming to the Bears team, probably since he's been in the league. Any lack of numbers was due more to the team than him. He's good, and fairly compensated. The clamoring for improvement at TE was always overblown. But now that they are both on the team, neither should take time away from the other. Olsen is the better receiving TE, Clark is the better all-around TE. If only one of them is in, defenses will be able to easily know Olsen is in for a pass play, while Clark's presence gives no indication run or pass. I think the majority of snaps should include both players. Whether it's at the expense of a WR or FB doesn't matter. They are two of the Bears best offensive players, and need to be used properly. I think Clark was dropping a few more passes and a few more fumbles in his earlier years. He's definitely a solid all-around TE, and represents a very good market pickup. Am I crazy for still hoping Olsen will become a decent blocker?
  11. I just think it would be amusing. Probably for about 10 minutes, but 10 minutes of amusement is better than no minutes of amusement.
  12. http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/15917802.html so it doesn't actually say it's done... So does this mean they have actually settled on the other position players (Cedeno, Murton, etc.) to be rumored in this deal? It means there's no deal at all. I don't know why people keep pushing this thing further than it really is. It's laughable to think that the Orioles get to "decide which pitchers they want" in any deal, as if the other team has no say. This isn't the produce section at the local supermarket. Christ, these articles are just stupid sometimes.
  13. They should sign him. You'd see the Rays on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball for the first time in forever, and it would be comical.
  14. If Kendall throws out a runner against us I'm liable to jump through the TV screen and choke said runner to death.
  15. Yes, seriously. I think he's a pretty good manager, but this has nothing to do with whether he's a substance abuse enabler. There's a difference between hatred, and just stating the facts. Look at the reality -- drugs are all around the man, his players, himself. It's obviously a problem. I'm not saying there isn't bias against LaRussa on this board, because obviously there's going to be. But there happens to be some factual support as well. I doubt he cares what people think about him, to be honest.
  16. That would be a weird sight. Barry in a Rays uni. They can't delay the trial for an entire baseball season, can they? At some point he's got to go back to SF and face his accusers. No chance in hell that judge dismisses the case, they've got him dead to rights.
  17. Lou does some stupid things, but I thought we needed a little perspective. Hehe. Also -- Lou likes to say things like this off the cuff, I can never tell if it's just bluffing or if he's really serious, or if he's just saying stuff to say stuff. And that's probably the point; it's not necessarily a serious comment.
  18. ? Why? Because they picked up the sure-to-be-mediocre Colon? I understand getting sick of them, but over this move? I'm just sick of hearing about Boston. The entire city. And their faux "national" sports network.

    The NBA thread

"One thing's for sure. Larry Hughes has come to town. That means next time Gordon's wrist starts acting up, he won't be taking time off." -- Kendall Gill. Interesting comment. Seems some are more than a little suspicious that Ben was dogging it.
  20. Be sure to try pricelining a downtown hotel first. I'm not sure what the budget here is, but most of the downtown hotels of note are very good, and close to everything. I know they are pricey--but that's why you try pricelining them.
  21. It's good to hear some guys on the O supporting Grossman. But it didn't look to me like the feeling was universal last year. It sure seemed like there were a lot of players heaping bad feelings on Rex even though it was clear the OLine had to share at least some of the blame. I don't know, that whole dynamic really turned me off last year. I didn't think the blame was being shared, and to me it was clearly more than one person's fault last year.
  22. He's still under contract, what kind of pick do you think we could get for him? A 5th rounder maybe? Houston couldn't get any type of pick for David Carr last year. I'd be very surprised if the Bears get anything for Griese especially at his contract. You're probably right. I'm being a little over-optimistic.
  23. I rather like the idea of team performance being tied to how much they can get for those tix. Call me crazy, but I do.
  24. He's still under contract, what kind of pick do you think we could get for him? A 5th rounder maybe?
  25. We keep dangling Murton out there like we need to get rid of the guy. I'm still left with this feeling in my gut that, after what 3 years? We still don't even know what this guy could really do if given the chance. I'm not sure I like being in a position where we'll be giving up a guy who has shown potential to be on base better than your average slug, and we don't really know what he might be if given an actual chance. I mean sure, it depends on the deal. Of course. I'm just saying, why don't we really know what Murton is all these years later? That seems like a failure to me, and an unnecessary one.
