  1. Chris Harris. Man, what an incomprehensible, completely unnecessary move by Angelo/Lovie.
  2. Back to Bonds, the article says there will be a hearing on the 29th to discuss a motion to dismiss the case. ...which I must have been hiding under a rock to not have known about. Anyway, how ridiculous is this? Dismiss the case? They've got him dead to rights. Slam freaking dunk.
  3. I'll be sitting in a conference room for 48 hours straight, trying to make sure my customer's needs are met. And it will no doubt be bitter cold outside. Yes, this is a blatant play for sympathy  Have fun down there. Not sure if you have been before -- take a jaunt over to Fitch in the early morning, they'll be doing practices that are really open. You'll have a great opportunity to pick up a baseball or two off a foul ball or a homer. I got like 3 in just about an hour last time I was there :)
  4. Pitchers and Catchers Report! I just like the way that rolls off the tongue. It's got a great cadence to it. Pitchers and Catchers Report!!
  5. If I remember correctly, Meph thought that Manny would have to hit 600 HR to make up for his defense. Regardless of his defense, Manny is a first ballot HOFer. I know he's not the greatest defender, but he plays well in Boston. He plays in Boston and has won two championships with them after they hadn't won it in 85 years and should have well over 500 HR before he's done. To me he's as much of a lock as they come. I agree. Barring a drug scandal or something like that, Manny is in.
  6. See? Doesn't matter what we know to be the case, the Cubs will start Theriot at SS until it gets through their thick skulls he's not the best option. That could be months! ARgh!
  7. If it tastes good, kill it. Agreed. However, if I don't *KNOW* it tastes good. Then you better not touch it or else.
  8. I dont thinks its talent we have issues with @ QB. its using them, and developing them. I still think Rex can be pretty good as long as he has protection and a run game so he can have time to throw and use the play action. He's a pocket passer with not much of a pocket (even in 2006, truth be told, the protection wasn't all that great). But I'm a pretty big Grossman homer. I would agree with you +1 ....but most of Chicago has decided he sucks, and will no doubt act like buffoons booing him until he's gone.
  9. We care about puppy dogs. But chickens, roosters? That's dinner -- let 'em kill each other!
  10. Hey -- better than fake trades, right?
  11. I still miss the Farns. I miss the fights, the chaos. I know that makes me a bad person. To hell with it! I want to see one more freaking tackle in front of the plate, one more Farns explosion in a Cubs uni. Let's make him our 1B coach
  12. While I don't disagree, when the rumors are big and then turn out to be a dud, it makes the offseason longer and more drab.
  13. So, pretty interesting article on ESPN today about all the Clemens B.S. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=bryant_howard&id=3244584 I disagree with the thrust of the article, though. There are several obvious lies in Clemens' testimony, and the most important thing is, for all the faults of McNamee, his testimony is corroborated -- ironically, by Clemens' best friend and his wife. I'm sure nobody will prosecute, because at this point it's so ridiculous I can't imagine everyone doesn't just want this to go away. But as for the HOF, or any kind of legacy? I think it's gone baby, gone.
  14. Because he decided to tell the truth. And the whole truth torches his best friend. So he ran. He was already torched by Pettite's testimony. Pettite should have been there. I'm not arguing that he should have been there. I'm just saying: the reason he wasn't was fear. Fear of having to lay out all the gory details right in front of his friend, and watch him figuratively die.
  15. First day and already delusions of grandeur.
  16. Because he decided to tell the truth. And the whole truth torches his best friend. So he ran.
  17. I missed it too, but reading the blogs about it is pretty funny. Sounds like they both got torched pretty badly.
  18. Seconded. But the Bears would still need another PLAYMAKING WR if they are not going to re-sign Berrian. I mean, I understand his agent is Rosenhaus, but if Chad Johnson is available, the Bears can top the Redskins offer, anyday. I would offer up the 1st and a 3rd for Chad Johnson, give him the extension (he would be worth the ext, moreso then Berrian) and that would trumps Washington's offer. I wouldn't. Too much to give up. Too many holes to fill. What's the point in having one of the best (and highest paid) WRs in the league when you don't have a decent QB to throw to him or a decent OL to allow the QB time to get the ball to him? It's not as if the Bears are going to fill a need with their 1st rd pick. Outside of Urlacher and Harris, the Bears track record with 1st rders, is abysmal, so trading the 1st rder, so be NO hinderance. The Bears have, I believe, 2 3rd rders this yr, so trading one of them won't hurt the Bears. Not to mention the Bears can still fixed holes with their 2nd, and the other 3rd picks. But giving Grossman (whom I'm convince the Bears will re-sign) a target like Johnson could be his Plaxico Buress. I simply tired of my sports team, not wanting to go after "LEGIT" elite players, because of price. If Chad is truly available, I want the Bears to get him. I certainly don't mind the idea of acquiring Chad Johnson, but a 1st and a 3rd is crazy steep. Moss was acquired for a bag of beans -- THAT'S how to GM in this league. Find someone else's mistake, and cash in on it. The Redskins have been overpaying for years for players, and it's netted them a couple early exits from the playoffs and a coaching staff in disarray. I don't think we want to be jumping on that bandwagon.
  19. Clemens claims that Pettitte misunderstood, and he was really talking about his wife. HIS WIFE. Yes that's right, Roger Clemens just threw his own wife under the bus. There is truly no level too low for Roger.
  20. Comcast mentioned tonight the Bears have contacted Booker. I don't know he's probably got little left. He may be 31 but there's mileage on those wheels.
  21. Macias takes my top spot, but yeah - Hundley was godawful. I'll vote for Mel Rojas...this is fun. LaTroy Hawkins Hundley was funny-bad though. The way he openly hated the fans puts it over the top for me. Of course, LaTroy could barely contain his hatred.....of basically everything.
  22. Enjoy the big leagues while you can. Tomorrow you could be a forgotten footnote.
  23. exactly. It wasn't up until the very end that I would have considered him the type of player to dog it. He busted his ass constantly. He busted it down the line, he busted it around the bases, and he busted it in the field. Sammy was a lot of things, but a slacker was not one of them. Yeah, it's mind boggling how someone would include him with the slackers. Someone else nailed it too -- should just replace Hundley for Sammy. There's your list.
  24. last thing we need is for people to be giving him credit for stuff he doesn't do LOL, my bad. How did I screw that up? Great job, LLF :)
  25. Very suprised Nomo hasn't packed it up and gone back to Japan. He's a hero there. Great job on the list, Meph.
