The Cavs have LeBron James. I think they will make do. He was awesome again tonight. Does that guy ever have a bad game? When you have LeBron, the sights are set a tad bit higher than "making do."
  2. LOL, once again getting Brewer tix is harder than getting Cubs tix, because their system is ridiculous. They let you in to choose your seats, then they throw you into an interminable VWR loop, then you get kicked back out. Argh, horrible. I finally got decent seats though. 5 for 7/31 in sec 216, row 4. That's pretty good--the front rows of the 2nd level have very good site lines. And then I wanted something in those LF bleachers where all the batting practice homers go......got 'em for 7/30, but they are in the section behind the foul pole, DOH! (that's OK though, we just want to hang out and see if we can shag a ball or two).

Duhon can leave Chicago for all I care. Tomorrow.
  4. I want no part of Walker. He has a huge contract, plus he's had what two surgeries on his knees, which means, if he does see the field again, he's most likely a poss. reciever. I much rather target a game changer, or at least have the potential to be said game changer, instead of taken a huge gamble. He whined and cried for the big money, put the Packers in a horrible position, and then proceeded to become useless. He's garbage, I don't want him anywhere near Halas Hall. Walker = Cancer.

I was being sarcastic...like I said earlier this was basically a swap of bad contracts(Wallace for Hughes), the only differnce, every now and then Hughes actually resembles an NBA player. Cleveland definelty was a terrible fit for him though. I don't know how often a player with an 11.97 PER can look like an NBA player. Hughes has managed to be slightly worse than even Wallace this year. Maybe a change of teams will help both players rebound. I'm hoping they'll just park Larry at the end of the bench. Maybe if he's put in only in the right situations he can be serviceable.
  6. EDIT - Forgot the link. My bad. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-080221-bernard-berrian-chicago-bears,1,7932166.story Also, heard on the Score earlier that the Bears were meeting with Grossman's agent today. Rex does throw a very nice deep ball when given the time... Hope they get something done with the kid. I don't want to watch him succeed somewhere else, and I think in the right situation he could.
  7. According to Clemens lawyer that photo misremembers him. =D>
  8. Apparently the party was more of the "family get-together" variety -- although that in and of itself seems weird when its Canseco.
  9. if you're only buying 1 ticket. Sometimes it's fun to bum around the ballpark solo for a day. I buy for a group though, I'm finding the Brewers are even tougher now than the Cubs because their system is worse (at least, it was last year). if i lived in the area it'd be a different story...i'd bum around wrigley by my lonesome all of the time...going to chicago is basically a vacation for me, so when i go the g/f and others want to go with. the only game i really wanted was aug. 2nd, my bday....i got in fairly quickly and it seemed the best i could do was behind a pole, then it booted me and i never got back in until all that was left were upper deck outfield seats...i want to be a little closer to the action. Upper Deck anywhere > Terrace Reserved Yeah, I scored upper deck right @ 3B for the Cards game 9/20. I'm praying we're in the race and the place is a nuthouse.
  10. Neither have I, Soul. Something about last year sucked a bit of my interest in the team. I think it was because I knew that they needed to make changes on the O-line and they just flat out refused to do anything about it. I'm never trusting this front office again. :( Oh well, we can get back in it, we proved this past year that Green Bay was a bit of a paper tiger, and the rest of the division is fairly mediocre, theres no reason we can't contend in this division. EDIT: I picked 10 wins last year, and if it wasn't for stupid meltdown B.S. like the first Lions game, both Minnesota games and the Giants game, we probably would have been right there, despite all the problems we had. It was pretty ugly last year, but we never really got blown out, other than perhaps the second half of the Dallas game. It shouldn't be that hard to get us back on track, despite the need for an entire offensive overhaul. Losing Briggs & Berrian will not make the team better though. I'm wondering if Angelo is going to approach this thing as a 2-year rebuild. That would mean '08 is dedicated to drafting the right replacements, training them up. Make the run again in '09. Maybe you get lucky and hit the Wild Card in '08, but '09 becomes the goal.

  12. Well I think I got all the tix I wanted for Cubs home games this year. Thanks for the tips in this thread! Anyone have tips for Cubs/Brewers tomorrow? If IIRC, last year the Brewers system was smarter -- it wouldn't let you just open more than one window to the same lobby. That really sucked, I wound up way more stressed trying to get Brewer tix than I did Cub tix. Hoping someone knows how to ease the pain.
  13. Well --- I got in very early and scored nice seats for the 5/30 colorado game. But now it appears the volume has picked up and I can't get past the waiting room. *sigh*
  14. I doubt it. They will probably be pretty good, assuming they make (some of) the necessary improvements. I doubt they're picking as high as 14 next year, barring a trade. 10 wins is a reasonable expectation. I don't expect the Green Bay Favres to be as good, the Vikings will be OK and the Lions will be the Lions. The Bears ought to be able to do better against the NFC north and win the division assuming they address O line and safety. I really need to see how the draft shakes out + the June 1 cuts to start to form an opinion on the subject. I do agree the NFCN remains largely a blessing.
  15. This is fun, but the knowledge that Ryan can't back it up on the mound makes it a little uncomfortable too.
  16. Yeah this should not even be considered.

No doubt, but I don't think he's *this* bad. Hughes has actual talent, Wallace doesn't. That's really the difference for me. If Hughes isn't the greatest locker room presence, that will be wash for the Bulls because Wallace was a total dud in terms of veteran leadership and being a player that others could look up to. By the time this deal went down, every signal I heard said the entire team didn't even want him around anymore. He's figuratively stealing money. And that's not exaggeration. As for Chandler......why do you people have to ruin my evening?

The way I look at it, giving up Joe Smith was the price the Bulls had to pay for getting a team to even consider taking mega-garbage like Wallace. It's unfortunate, but ultimately Smith wasn't going to be part of our future, he was signed on as a veteran transitional player and turned out to be a very pleasant suprise. If there's one player the Cavs should feel good about in this trade, it's Joe Smith.
  19. Good to see the Bears aren't bowing to public hysteria on Grossman. He's still the best arm in a Bears uni since forever. That's not saying much, but dumping QBs with actual NFL-calibre arms is a stupid idea for a franchise that has shown it struggles mightily to identify a QB that has even moderate skills. Sadly, when Berrian leaves we will be left with the worst WR corps in the NFL.

I like the move solely because it rids us of an absolutely horrible basketball player in Wallace, and frees up his salary to be able to look to the future. I'm not really sure about the rest, and I don't think anyone else can be either. To me this is all about cutting loose the ball and chain known as "Big Ben." And for that, I am happy. Enjoy watching him suck for you, Cleveland.
  21. Yeah, I've never tried to get Cubs/Sox tix. I usually go with something that I figure won't be as hotly contested, because I'd like to see at least SOME Cubs home games with really good seats. The strategy works -- I've been able to sit near the field the past 2 seasons. But the downside is, I don't go for the choice games where everything is rocking. Although -- last year I got really lucky and was sitting right behind the 1st base dugout when Lee/Young got into their fight.
  22. So far then, Freddy Miller & Ruben Brown are gone. Is that it, or did we give Garza his walking papers too? I haven't been following all that closely
  23. You might very well be right, but then why are the Bears so convinced he could be a #1 WR at some point? I don't know. IMHO, it takes more than just raw physical ability to be a true #1. It takes a certain amount of mental ability to outsmart the better defenders, wisdom on the nuances of the game, etc. Hester is the most instinctual player I think I've ever seen, but I don't see how he will ever develop those secondary attributes to really be a solid #1. I mean look at a guy like Harrison. He doesn't just beat people with his legs.
  24. That site is awesome. Love the "Lucky Homers" and "Golden Sledgehammer" lists.
  25. I wouldn't feel bad for them. They could still be a good ballclub this year. Certainly much better than what they are used to.
