  1. Yeah the WR position is pretty much a 100% horror show next year. They're going to suck. There's nothing there for us to grab on to, no way to improve the situation significantly enough to raise us out of the bottom 5 WR corps in the league. We might be the flat-out worst.
  2. Am I the only one who's just like, bewildered after watching Zell drop f-bombs at the drop of a hat during some major press conference? Holy crap that's who owns the Cubs now?
  3. There's a lack of proof though. I don't recall Mitchell mentioning him, and I just don't remember any controversy. Even in this day & age, it's difficult to lay that at someone's feet when there's nothing really there supporting it.
  4. I think he's probably trying to make as much money as possible. I think people are kidding themselves if you don't think he can get more than 5/25. That's less than Kevin Curtis got last year. That being said, I probably wouldn't go too much higher than that. I know, but we offered him that though. He's asking for basically $8m/yr ($23mil over the first 3 years). Since NFL contracts become very sketchy after the initial years, I think it's fair to say he's trying to get the latter. $8mil/yr is fairly outrageous for a #2, IMO.
  5. Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. With a contract demand like that, I've got to wonder if Berrian just wants to leave the Bears because he doesn't really want to be here anymore.
  6. It's not a real good comparison though. You can't just look at a guy and go "he's ripped, he's more intimidating." What will intimidate the hell out of teams is a running back posting up 250 yards against them. Much more so than a guy who has better muscle definition. That said, I think Mendenhall is very good. But McFadden is a slightly better prospect, IMO.

:rotfl: Welcome to the Wallace era, Cavs fans. Don't worry, he does so many things that don't show up in the stats!
  8. This deal better stay dead. Apparently the Rangers are comfortable with losing, too.
  9. Agreed. The primary argument against Jim is that he hasn't won enough games, and hasn't won a championship, even though he has had plenty of time to do so. ...and that's an argument I find to be pretty simple, and very compelling. He just hasn't won enough, period -- regardless of the money spent.
  10. his dad and clemens are apparently decent friends I would think a Presidential pardon would seal Roger off from the hall of fame forever, and for sure. The sense of foul play would be so heightened, I can't see how any signficant number of voters would put him in, even many, many years from now. Presumably, Clemens' plan is to cast as much doubt as he possibly can on the charges, so that hopefully in a decade or more people will be willing to put it aside and vote for his numbers. A pardon would certainly ruin that.
  11. Tony LaRussa himself said he knew about the accident, but "didn't think anything would come of it." This after Spiezio had spent time in rehab for drug abuse during last season. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hoXjes8vIH4TXsq8azOlkLaceiEgD8V2VJ780 On top of it, Spiezio was apparently buddies with Hancock. I mean it just goes on & on. The connections are clear -- I just think you have to have your head in the sand to not figure out this kind of stuff will eventually happen.

Hughes had 29 off the bench tonight. Not too bad.
  13. I heard there's a chance the landmark status might be rescinded in order to lower costs for a major rennovation. Wrigley has already become a sort of hybrid of what it used to be. At some point here, it's going to cease to be anything we recognize. It's just going to happen and you can't stop it, any more than you can stop time itself.
  14. Another Cardinal with drug problems. What a surprise.
  15. Seems important that it's both Waxman and Davis, the ranking members from both parties, who are jointly requesting the investigation. It was the Republicans who seemed to take Clemens' side during the hearings. Looks like that isn't going to hold for Roger anymore. There are several people who would have to by lying at this point in order for Roger to be telling the truth. I don't have a clue why some 19 year old kid would lie to support McNamee over his hero Roger, or why Pettitte would deliberately throw him under the bus when he's best friends with him, or for that matter why McNamee would directly put his freedom at risk in order to tell lies about ONLY Roger when he was telling the truth about everyone else. Logic and common sense would both appear to point to Roger being a stone cold liar. I would be floored if all these other people are lying.
  16. I dunno, I would think it would be the opposite. There have been a gazillion games in Wrigley, and when it's all said and done, there's going to be a gazillion more. But if/when this transpires, it's going to be probably the only chance in you're lifetime you'll have to see Cubs home games not in Wrigley. That seems more rare and precious than just doing the stock 'trip to wrigley' that every cubs fan has done. PLUS, you get the satisfaction of completely emasculating dbag white sox (the ones that are dbags) fans. It's a win-win Cuse. Consider it. why would white sox fans be at the game that day? They'll be at the bars in the area waiting for the game to end so they can get an early start on their pickpocketing for the week.
  17. well.....I think all of us are a little insane, but that's neither here nor there
  18. He's a fan fave in the desert too, from what I understand. The guy just attracts support for his scrappiness no matter what the numbers say. You really can grit your way into the fans' hearts.
  19. I'd go. Milwaukee's not an option, come on. They already hate us for taking over their park when we play the Brewers. Plus it involves more travel. Cub fans will support their team, no matter what. 100 years of banging our heads against a brick wall, and a 1 year hiatus from Wrigley is going to stop us? Hell no.

Wow that's just a lightning blow from the sky for Houston. Done. Just like that.
  21. McFadden ran a 4.33  That guy is going to be incredible barring injury.
  22. I have stayed there and it is a nice place. As I said earlier, don't be afraid of Priceline. If you don't get the price you want it doesn't cost you anything but a few moments of your time. I have never had a case where a hotel didn't roughly match the star-level they have listed. That's really the important thing for me: is the place clean and quiet? Does it have the stuff that most 3 star hotels, or most 4 star hotels have? As far as location, I can usually make do being a few blocks away from ideal here & there. I will admit though, I always go to Trip Advisor after I find out which hotel accepted my bid so I can see what I've just gotten myself into. 8-) I have stayed out in Oak Brook before, and I stayed at O'hare once. With Chicago's transit system, you can usually make most locations work for you. I did have a problem last year though, I stayed in Evanston and waited like an hour in 95 degree heat for a Pace bus. Never again.
  23. I agree. I might feel more comfortable giving up a player than a week ago. Especially since it could very well mean that we don't have to see Fontenot in the starting lineup for 2 or 3 months to open the season. (I'm speculating that the amount of time DeRo would be out will increase from current estimates because, well, it usually does).
  24. Haha, yeah that looks like Wuertz to me. Love the pics of Kosuke!
