Post AS break 2007 he hit one every 16.13 AB's. That would come out to 37 HR in 600 AB's (34 in 550 AB's). That seems about right and about the best we could have expected, even if he hadn't injured his wrist (despite his monster 2005). We'll see if he continues at the pace he was at after the break. There is reason to believe he will. These numbers cast some doubt: .125/.167/.267 And I've got a feeling those right there comprise a good portion of what Lou is talking about. Lee needs to start showing he's prepared to start the season, and so far he hasn't. At all.

I'm sorry if Hendry is held accountable for the players on the field, then I just don't get it. He's not the MANAGER. Now if Hendry doesn't do everything in his power to improve the holes on this team, then yes, I would him accountable. But to hold him accountable for the players on the field, is simply wrong. What on earth are you talking about? You're right. General managers shouldn't be held accountable for how their teams perform. Or not. If you spent $120 million on a baseball team and they don't win 80 games, you can and should be held accountable. I don't care if all the players hit 50 OPS points below their average or give up a run more than their career averages. The GM must be held responsible for that. Fire the manager too if you have to. Fire everyone. Christ, the goal is to win the damn World Series and we're not even close. This team would get slaughtered by any of the top AL clubs, and probably a few of the NL clubs as well. Are we supposed to be happy we have a shot at winning a horrible division? Excuse me for not giving in to low expectations, but that's just not good enough where I come from. -
I would be ecstatic. That's like Barrett when he was hitting, plus Soto's not an idiot on the basepaths, and can actually play some D.

While it's fun to see one of our players being predicted to win ROY, it's really completely ridiculous to make such a prediction before game #1.

Are you referencing Spring Training or during the season? I don't remember anybody complaining about the power during Spring Training, and then yes, most of the first half people were waiting for him to get the power stroke going. Your use of never is incorrect as his power returned in the second half of the year. It would be nice if we didn't have to wait until July for it to happen this year. If that means DLee plays a little more in the Spring, then so be it.

Braun will manage to cost the Brewers at least 5 games in the field, no matter where he plays. As for the hitting, I don't think there's going to be a sophomore slump. He'll be good.

Yeah, he can go. If for nothing else but for the loss of incentive to ever play him over Mark Bradley again. If he does go though, the Bears special teams will look a lot different. Have lost a lot with Ricky Manning and Archuleta still possibly to go. I don't see Archuleta gone. His salary is super cheap and considering the depth we need at safety, I'm almost sure he stays. An empty jersey laid down on the field would be cheaper still, and would be better than Archuleta.

If you're going to do this, do it for some kid who is less fortunate. Allowing some has-been star to massage his ego for the cameras when he can't get a movie role anymore is stupid and serves no greater purpose. -
I've been thinking about this a bit this offseason. We haven't heard about him at all. Was he on the roster but inactive all year, or was there any injury issue? I feel like it's almost inevitable that he will have to play a lot this year. If he is decent, that would be a significant boost. Usually no news is bad news when it comes to these guys. I feel like if he was even halfway decent we would have heard something. Haven't heard the first word about him, he's like a ghost.

Hendry's steals have worked out far better long term for him than his busts have bit him in the long run. I couldn't disagree more. Since Hendry became GM: The Tribune has upped Cubs payroll from 70m to 110m+ The farm system has gone from one of the top farm systems to the bottom and back to the middle of the pack Cubs record since 2003 is 407-403 while playing in arguably the worst division in baseball during that span. My expectations are a bit higher than yours, I guess. It's been said before, but Hendry is an average at best GM. You can certainly have a worse GM. Also, the clubs record since 2003 doesn't really rest solely on Hendry. What if Prior and Wood are healthy those years? What if DLee doesn't break his wrist? There's a bunch of factors that go into the teams record and it's unfair to cast all the blame on Hendry's trades. He's average. Nothing more and nothing less. He's not close to winning a World Series and that's my expectation, so the sooner we can find someone who can get the job done, the better.

It wouldn't surprise me, one bit. Well, in fairness it's likely that MacPhail is as frustrated with his boss as the Cubs are with him. I mean the man obviously can't take a crap without approval. Completely and totally ridiculous way to run a ballclub.

Don't you think that's a bit steep? It's not like the guy was a shut-down CB even before he got involved in those fiascos. He's got to be worth next to nothing. Nobody knows if he'll even play. He could very easily pull a stunt at any time and wind up suspended for a year, or even for life. I wouldn't give much of anything for that kind of insecurity.

Definitely. He peaked in college. Actually, I think he's regressed in the NBA since maybe his 2nd year.

It not so much he missed on "selling high" on the Knicks picks, it just think his picks were questionable then, and even moreso today. You pass on both LMA and Roy to take Thomas. Very questionable. technically, he picked LMA and then traded him for Thomas Which makes it even worse.

I could see them taking Flacco in the 3rd. I thought Flacco's stock was rising higher than 3rd round, but I could be wrong.

seriously If I'm Roberts I'd be getting more vocal about it. Either trade me or keep me! I'm pretty sure we heard that he said that to the O's.......about 2-3 weeks ago. :shock: Yeah, who could blame him too. If something's actually going to happen, get it over with. It's not fun to be a player in this situation either.

Christ he could have gotten that from us. He asked for 2mil/yr, IIRC. Have fun in BAL -- that's a franchise that won't be good again for a long time IMO.
