  1. The book on Pie appears to be: keep it tight inside.
  2. Chicken crap pitches around Soto to get to Pie.
  3. And anyone who stayed up in Japan breaks into cheers!
  4. U don't have WGN? nope, i've actually never gotten wgn anyplace where i lived That's unpossible.
  5. Damn dude. I was assured by some guy on Orioles Hangout that it would be Roberts. FTH?
  6. Unfortunately Hart does have some pop. Good thing Pie was there.
  7. because they are HERE TO WIN (says Orel Hershiser) The bigger question is why are you watching on ESPN2 over WGN? Likely the HD, but I'm just guessing. That is right. He only mentioned it 3 or 4 times. If I had the option, I'd choose WGN with good announcers over ESPN with crap announcers. I'd choose WGN too, but Comcast won't give it to me. On a day like today I would choose WGN for the announcers. But on a good day with a full color palette on display, I'd suck it up and watch the HD. As it is, I get to watch Gameday which is worse than both.
  8. Haha, nice sig. Miller: "doh, another season with this windbag?" Morgan: "hehe, another paycheck for sucking."

  10. because they are HERE TO WIN (says Orel Hershiser) Or because Gwynn would like to impress, keep himself from being sent back down to AAA this year. Either way, pointless. Amazing a guy like Hershiser doesn't realize that.
  11. Very close to meaningless to steal 3rd with 2 outs, but whatever.
  12. I don't know, but if they're answer is "not enough space", they are lying out of their arses. I haven't heard them make this claim since they put the new satellite up, which was the last time that it was actually true.
  13. Gameday has the lineups Cubs: Theriot Soriano Lee Ramirez Fukudome DeRosa Soto Pie Z Crew: Weeks Gwynn Fielder Braun Hall Hart Hardy Sheets Kendall (as Yost said, he's going with Kendall in the 9 hole)
  14. Yeah, the one that will hit right now should go away soon, but that nasty cell moving over Missouri might just end it...
  15. It's supposed to make it up to the 60's today. Would be the warmest opening day since 1992. We'll see. I wonder if Skilling is still standing by that great forecast he made in today's Trib. Accuweather says high of 54 degrees, that's what I was referencing. Hopefully the T-storms won't blanket the entire area and Wrigley will get lucky.
  16. As a matter of fact most of the viewers didn't understand why this former HS phenom/current NBA star was talking about baseball instead of basketball. Based on the half segment that I saw, Morely Safer didn't understand any of it. Well, to be fair to 60 minutes, the segment was 3rd in the lineup, which is their "human interest" segment. The basic idea is to heap praise on someone for their accomplishments and give everyone a nice "feel good" story. I think they accomplished that -- they focused on his former life as a security guard, put a "rags to riches" spin on it. Made everyone feel good. They rarely go into technical details in one of these segments, so I doubt Morley really prepped himself for that side of the story.
  17. So, last year it was (estimated) 10 extra HD games per week (I'm basing that off of just seeing that there was usually 1 extra game on HD that you couldn't get anywhere else, sometimes 2 on the weekend). 40 per week is a massive upgrade. That's well worth 50 bucks IMHO.
  18. Wow, lots of people out there already, 3 hours before gametime. Sure looks like Opening Day at Wrigley to me You know, I've never been to an opening day. I'll have to make a point of it some year. i've been to one. I think it was about 25 degrees and Frank Castillo was the pitcher (against the Padres maybe? I'll have to look it up on Baseball Reference) EDIT: I think it was 1996 w/ Jaime Navarro toeing the rubber Yeap. That's why I've never been. The weather is almost always going to be cold this time of year. One of these years I'll tough it out. Actually if it does make it up to 50+ degrees today it'll be on the warmer side for opening days.
