  1. I don't think they should negotiate. Yeah, he's their franchise player, but he isn't as good as a few years ago and they have him locked into a team-friendly contract until 2011. I can't see him being worth any more money in 4 more years. He made his bed, now he has to lay in it. I also can't see him being the type of guy that would actually sit out any meaningful action (training camp, preseason, regular season, etc). Wouldn't the Bears want to see how Urlacher's back is going to hold up, and how he comes back from neck surgery, before committing even more years to him? It's not like his contract is up, he's signed for 3 more seasons. This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but what do I know.
  2. Haha, cool.
  3. Granted UCLA was blown out but I had to miss my own school in the championship game two years ago in the final. Because of work? Jail? Wife made you go shopping out of spite? Work I just couldn't get out of (I was new at the job). And there were 3 other UCLA alums too who were stuck there. What really sucks is that the kind of work I'm doing really just requires me to be here just in case a disaster happens -- but there's just not a real big chance of that happening. And it's not "cool" to turn on the TV, or ask that the TV be turned on.
  4. I don't usually do this, but:  1) I never said he should be benched; 2) Comparing him to Aramis and Fukudome is stupid. Roll your eyes all you want. I didn't directly compare him to either player...simply pointing out that "something might need to be done" (and what that possibly means besides playing him less, I have no idea) about a productive and generally reliable player having a couple of unfortunately costly errors this early in the season is pretty much an exercise in futility. A swift kick in the butt, or the ever-present threat of a "stern talking to" tends to increase production 65% over the short-term. Outside of that, taking away a player's favorite cereal might work, but only if his favorite isn't crappy in the first place. You really need to get with the program when it comes to player discipline.
  5. Seriously, it's about damn time. People have only been complaining about it for nearly a decade (or whenever they started offering out-of-market broadcasts on a large scale).
  6. Your post lacks the biting sarcasm I've come to expect from you. Having sympathy for me tonight?

  8. wait, you're saying derosa's error today was due to the trade rumors he suffered through during ST? I'm saying he's been noticeably worse in the field this season, and he himself said he was having trouble concentrating on baseball preparing for the season. I'm not the only one drawing the link between the two. We're still just 7 games in. The man is probably still trying to get his head in the game. He was probably spending most of March talking about whether he would need to uproot his family, for God's sake.
  9. Suck me. I have to work during the championship game and will miss it. Yea, I'm here to whine about it.
  10. That's just because MLB knows Mississippi sucks.
  11. Nothing can be done now. It's DeRo no matter what. But here's a tip. Next spring, when we've had a stupid trade rumor brewing for 3 months and pitchers & catchers are about to report, it might be a good idea to put it to rest for the sake of the players who would stand to lose their jobs and are trying to prepare mentally to play the damn game. It's too bad Mark doensn't have John Wayne's mental constitution. We've still got ballgames to win regardless. Might want to keep that in mind, Jimbo.
  12. Damn it, I have to go work a freaking night shift now. If we lose I'm going to annoy the hell out of all of you all damn night.
  13. I don't think I've ever even seen Sori bunt.
  14. We deserved to lose until that. Now I can figure out who deserves to win. So just win this damn thing.
  15. Unbelievable to blow a 7 run lead to the Pirates. Just unbelievable.
  16. Pretty weak, IMO. And also reality. Right from DeRo's own mouth, right on to the field.
  17. And Brian Roberts is having a terrible start too, right? Oh wait, he's not. Oh wait, either way Roberts has a job.
  18. See what happens to an otherwise good 2B when you hover trade rumors over his head all spring? Thanks Jim.

  20. The kind who a network has built into a demigod, but the rest of the world realizes isn't all that great.
  21. The entire Detroit Tigers baseball team is struggling. Incidentally I'm in Detroit right now. ....Cub fans aren't the only ones who panic after only a few games. I've confirmed that for everyone.
  22. I know. But the fear is if we only use him in a limited way, he'll never get straightened out. I *hate* how long it takes Howry to get going. Bob needs to change his offseason preparation. This is ridiculous. There's a solid reliever in there somewhere. It's crap to have to wait until July to see it.
