  1. Morris, and his 71 ERA+ last year, is TEH SUQ.
  2. Heading into a 2nd world championship in a row, these guys were the toast of the country. There's no way in hell anyone could have realized it would be the last Cub championship. Must have seemed like the circus would never end at the time. This is a great thread. Thanks for the pics OMC.
  3. PANIC! Oh my gosh. PANIC!!
  4. I wonder what the ground rules were for when a foul ball went into that overflow crowd. Fair game for the fan, I would imagine. Heck, I might throw a sneaky elbow at a Cardinals player if he tried to catch one in there. :P
  5. Harris is another guy who I love, but can't get the injury concerns out of my head. Last year really changed things; he never recovered from that hammy and I don't see any assurances that he ever really will.
  6. I just noticed something about you too now. :D
  7. He lacks grit.
  8. Well whoever the heck starts for us needs to give us some good innings.
  9. There's something I just noticed about Alfonso Soriano. He freaking sucks right now.
  10. Reading up a little more on the West Side Grounds. Came across these fun little tid bits: Neat little site devoted to the ballpark: http://bc1000.com/graphics_twoilfs/facts.htm
  11. Wow that ball was tagged. Thank goodness it was catchable.
  12. he'll blow it He damn well better NOT. Tying run at the plate after Gomez dunks one in... Better not.
  13. he'll blow it He damn well better NOT.
  14. "YES SIR!" Ron just makes me laugh He's the pure emotion of being a Cub fan put on a microphone.
  15. Dear Lord how about holding a lead for a damn change?!??!?
  16. hello Deadball Era Maybe it should be renamed the "560-foot center field fence" era.
  17. I'll be damned. Good catch. And why does the graphic itself say it's the 1907 club, but champions for 1908?
  18. That ballpark is freaking me out. Look at that outfield! And the foul territory goes on forever. Seats behind home plate are actually not that good. It's a long, long way to home plate from back there. And it must have taken a short jog to get from dugout to the batter's box. Wild.
  19. Damn Crew is starting off hot again. It would be nice to keep pace a little until they cool down. I don't want to have to count on a monumental collapse this year.
  20. No question he did some good things. There was a time when I thought he was one of Jimbo's best moves. And at that time, he probably was. Just cause Barrett had a bad half season doesn't make the move a bad one. The Barrett acquisition was Hendry's best move. I'd go with DLee.

  22. Haven't you ever gone through the motions on something but your head wasn't really there? Walking to work Monday. I was so hungover I couldn't think straight and thought I was going to stumble into traffic at any time. I needed a half dozen cups of coffee just to look at the computer. did you manage to still OPS .970+ for a major league team that day? if so, you probably had what derosa has. He managed to get through traffic OK (batting stayed fine), but the computer skills went into the tank (several untimely defensive mistakes). See? If it was due to a hangover from several weeks prior. Ahhhh, but lost brain cells never grow back!
