  1. Poor you Roast. Because it's an April home series, I am not going to be able to watch one minute of the games Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Monday. Our first night game of the season isn't until next Wednesday. Ever since I graduated college and started a job, I've been in favor of more night games at Wrigley. Funny how that happens, eh? Because of weekend travel (for work), and day games, I won't be able to watch the Cubs play on TV until that Wednesday night game. I would have appreciated a night game in the first week.
  2. Not that I don't agree with you, but my how things have changed over the past few years. People were probably scared back then that the sharing would drive the rooftop owners out of business, hence changing the look & feel of Wrigley. Now that's it clear that won't happen, it's back to business 101 -- pay to play.
  3. Good job Lee, too. Nice 1 hit. What's that? Trade this guy.
  4. Cubs: don't start up with me. Win or else.
  5. Wait a minute. I know DSM has improved the downtown area (and continues to do so, as I understand). But 75-100 places within walking distance from the park? How far are you walking? That's much better than Wrigley! Thanks for the tips though 9Y
  6. Exactly. If Alou doesnt throw a fit and start screaming it doesnt get blown out of proportion nearly as much. I don't have a problem with Alou's reaction. While he can admit he probably wouldn't have caught it, Bartman eliminated any chance of possibly catching it. So, the probability factor went from not likely to catch it to not a chance in hell of catching it. That's got to be pretty frustrating. I've always thought it was Alou's temper tantrum that had more of an effect than actually not getting the out. Alou's the veteran there, he's got to contain himself better no matter whether he would really catch it or not. I sat there and watched Prior's reaction *to Alou*, and I went......"uh oh." I'll always believe (though can't be proven obviously) that if Alou stays calm Prior would have also, and we go to the World Series.
  7. The '84 team should have gone. It never made any sense for them to lose 3 in a row to the Padres. Not then it didn't, and not now. And that club was the best team in the NL that year, no question about it. '85 and '04 were very, very similar seasons from my perspective. Expected to be dominant, then just ending up nowhere. The only difference was, the '85 club had a heart-attack-inducing massive losing streak (14 games, IIRC?) that blew the season up like a nuke, and '04 we basically stubbed our toe all year.
  8. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely use it; the 2nd game is a Sunday 1pm deal, and I'm sticking around overnight before leaving.
  9. I've got tix to see the Iowa Cubbies this year. Gonna make a road trip out of it. I'm really excited, as I've never been before. Does anyone have any pointers? Like, good restaurants/bars near the stadium? Where to park (where not to)? Does it matter? Are the games usually sold out on weekends? I've got "Home Plate Club" tix for one game, and then just grandstand seats for the 2nd game. In some ways I'm even more excited about this than going to Wrigley. I love something new & different, and I love road trips.
  10. Even I won't freak out after only one day. Sheesh people, at least wait for Wednesday
  11. Don't lose this game tomorrow, Cubs. I will have to listen to more Brewer fan boasting if you do. That would be un-fun.
  12. Oh, that was not funny. You are an evil man, IMB. Had me going for a second.
  13. Agreed. Face it, you've got a much better chance getting decent production from a no-name RB than putting together a solid line with scrap-heap Ts & Gs.
  14. Could be worse, Cub fans. You could have Livan Hernandez as your opening day starter, and watch your best player take the field in the opposing team's uniform.
  15. I'm more worried about Howry than Woody. Not because I don't think Bob will get it together, but because it seems like it's July before he does, and I don't want to wait that long.
  16. I can't believe I just missed that sitting here at work. FukuLOVE.
  17. No, Gagne's disease is known as Lackojuicy syndrome. Very bad stuff. Incurable.
  18. I tried to tell them it would be a good idea to score some runs. But do they listen? nnnNNNOOOOOoo.
  19. score some runs before we blow this thing?
