  1. From a Titans fan's perspective, if Mariota is there at #2, I'll be pretty upset if they don't take him. I like Mettenberger a lot, but Mariota is just too good with too much potential to pass up. On the other hand, if the Bucs take Mariota, I don't want the Titans taking a QB until late. At that point, just stick with Mett and hope he develops. Winston is insanely talented, but the bust potential (mostly due to off-the-field stuff) is just way too high. I'd have no interest in Winston at 2 at all.
  2. Wow, did not know that. Makes a whole lot more sense to opt out then.
  3. I think he's as good as anybody available, honestly. Especially since some of the names the Raiders are interested in include Eric Mangini and Pat Shurmur.
  4. Doug Marrone opted out of his contract in Buffalo. Seems like a crazy decision. I think he's done a good job in Buffalo, but not good enough that he's going to be a hot commodity. I'd say he'll get interest, but seems like there's a high probability he doesn't get another NFL job. There had to be something going on behind the scenes there (the Manuel thing is evidence of that too, I guess).
  5. If I'm understanding this right, 250k for each game finished between 50 and 59. Then 250k for pitching in 50 games, and another 250k for pitching in 65 games, but the most his bonus can be is $2.5m Did we make him any kind of promises about finishing games? Did we just spend money on a Proven Closer? I would guess the gf in that tweet means games finished - meaning he gets a $250K bonus for every game he finishes from 50-59 and then for 60 and 65.
  6. I will admit I've liked Mettenberger's potential since college and was thrilled when the Titans took him where they did, so I'll value him higher than others. I do think there's a decent chance if the Titans looked to trade Mett this offseason, that he could net a 4th round pick and maybe a 3rd if a team were enamored with him. The problem the Bears are facing with trading Cutler is twofold - 1) you're trading him when his value is at the lowest with media outlets and Bears coaches questioning him - 2) you don't have much leverage if bringing him back is not an option. If the Bears just idly shop him to see what he could bring with the realization that they probably won't trade him, then they have some real leverage. But teams are going to believe the Bears desperately want to part ways with Cutler if they try to trade him now and there are other options for QB needy teams (RG3 via trade or Mariota/Winston/maybe Petty/Hundley/Grayson via draft).
  7. I think Pat McAfee might be a better passer than either Browns QB. And I'm only joking a little.
  8. 4th rounder is awful a second is decent You're not getting a 2nd round pick for Cutler, especially from a team at the top of the draft like the Titans. A 3rd and a solid, young QB with a lot of upside is probably easily the best offer you'd get for him. The "right" move by the Bears is not to trade Cutler at all because he's a very good QB who you're not going to get his value back on in a trade. That said, though, if they're deadset on trading him, I think a 3rd and Mett is best case scenario.
  9. Not on the QB's rookie deal since the caps have been put in place. It's really one of those things for me where if we got Cutler without giving up Mett, I'd have no problem passing on Mariota and letting Mett develop behind Cutler. Or passing on Cutler and drafting Mariota to start year 1 would be fine. In the scenario where we give up Mett to get Cutler, though, I'd want a long term QB option out of this offseason and there's nobody better for that than Mariota. All that said, if I'm pursuing a veteran QB hard this offseason, it's RG3. No need for Mariota or Mett if we get RG3.
  10. The 2nd is too valuable, I think - especially if we use the 1st to get Mariota after the trade. Id think the strategy would be to trade #1 and get a Redskins like haul for the pick. I'd take that in a heartbeat if somebody offered it to us. I'm not expecting somebody to overpay like that, though.
  11. The 2nd is too valuable, I think - especially if we use the 1st to get Mariota after the trade.
  12. For those who care, as a Titan fan, I'd love to see us deal for Cutler. A dream scenario would be to trade for Cutler (giving up a 4th or so) and then take Mariota with the 2nd (or maybe 1st) pick. That way we have Cutler as the starter for a couple years and then develop Mariota behind him til he's ready. Not sure Titans would do that, but I'd like it. As for what I'd give for Cutler - no more than a 3rd and Mettenberger. I like Mett a lot, but I haven't seen enough from him to be comfortable that he can be a long term answer at QB. He only dropped in the draft due to the injury, though, and the talent is unquestionable. He has a huge arm, enough mobility not to get killed and has the frame coaches love. Mariota is simply better in just about every category (save arm strength), though, so as much as I like Mett, I want Mariota. There's not a chance I'd entertain swapping firsts for Cutler. He's too short term an answer for that.
  13. The Titans turned down Locker's 5th year option for 2015, so I believe he's a FA after this season.
  14. Yeah, that's definitely a solid offensive core. I'm kind of partial to Mariota/Kendall/Hunter/Sankey, though. Young and super athletic.
  15. Crap. I hope Lovie doesn't decide that offense is important all of a sudden and takes Mariota. Or all 3 of those teams could win a game and the Titans could lose out - that'd work too.
  16. So there's a 4-way tie for the #1 pick - Titans, Raiders, Jaguars, Bucs. The Titans probably need to just go ahead and lose out since the only team there that I'm confident wouldn't take Mariota is Jacksonville. What's the tiebreaker for the first pick?
  17. That was a fun one to keep up with. And I'm glad I had a bye - my team was pathetic.
  18. Tennessee/Iowa in the bowl formerly known as the Gator Bowl. Could be worse, but I was kinda hoping for the Liberty Bowl. At least I think that's a winnable game.
  19. Keep sucking Titans. Keep sucking.
  20. Do you really think the #1 overall is going to change anything? I can see tanking but at least try to lose by less than 30. Maybe a field goal just to erase the goose egg. It's more the hope that some team will give up something close to what Washington gave up for RGIII. I might give up something close to that for Mariota. I like him that much.
  21. Will Muschamp's future job?
  22. This is true.
  23. That's exactly why I made that league a tenths-points league. I feel like it more fully gives players credit for what they do, rather than hacking off several yards they gain each game.
