  1. Ronnie's batting second? Who hit Dusty over the head with a mallet and made the lineup card for him?
  2. IDK, but I sure would like to get at least ONE decent positional prospect out of this draft, and right now he seems like our best bet. Lewis and Episcopo are both putting up numbers in Mesa that make them seem decent enough. Granted, they might hit a wall somewhere down the line. But for now, they haven't done too bad for themselves down there.
  3. Whenever the heck they post the Mesa boxes, I'll post them.
  4. REMINDER: Go ask your Daytona Cubs questions in the Bo Fulginiti Q&A stickied at the top of this forum! Go, do it now. I'll wait. Box Scores Iowa lost 6-0 Box Score DH M. Fontenot 2/4, K 3B S. 5. x2 Kendry Morales, Jeff Mathis, Howie Kendrick, or some bullpen help would also be nice acquisitions. :D
  6. Part of me is glad the Cubs don't have to face them until mid-August. I'd rather the Cubs face them at the end of an Astros hot streak instead of in the beginning or middle of one. ;)
  7. I'm curious as to whether the mediots down there will write columns about players other than Nomar down there since they might be looking for other angles. Would be kinda nice to read some fluff piece in the Times or Trib about Ryan Harvey or Eric Patterson, imo.
  8. Depends on the circumstances. If he's battling hard, getting full counts, and protecting the strike zone effectively, but not getting results from it, yes it is encouraging. If he's doing the first pitch pop-up thing...then no, it's not encouraging.
  9. Weber's doing well for himself I see.
  10. Ditto. I love Sergio Mitre and all, but the depth of this starting rotation is not something I'd like to risk at the moment by trading Hill or Williams.

  12. LaTroy Hawkins must have gone to consult Jobu after his outing.
  13. You should join the insomniac club we have here on NSBB. Me, Navin, Slugger, BOCF, Coach, and JMD all have a fun time together. :D And the fan goes wild!
  14. I don't mind having a spirited discussion on ethics and proper actions fans can take, but the moment you drop insults is the moment I stop taking anything you say seriously.
  15. Disgusting? Excuse me? Are you saying that these fans wouldn't cheer or boo the hell out of Latroy if his elbow suddenly went pop? I don't know what precisely you're trying to go after me for here. I'm saying that you'll find classless fans everywhere in the sports world, be it booing the hell out of a guy like Hawkins or cheering on an injury. They are both incredibly inappropriate and classless actions by the fans. They are not wrong to the same degree, no. But to say that they aren't comparable would be a fallacy.
  16. Up late I see. ;) Glendon has owned the Cardinals in the past and basically was a major reason the Cubs were afloat until the last two weeks of September last season. He gets PLENTY of credit in my book! :D
  17. It was an illustration of how classless fans are. Justified or not, going after Hawkins like that was wrong and unethical.
  18. Seems like the wind's blowing left to right. Wasn't the worst of ideas to try taking it to the RF seats, imo.
  19. I'd like to thank the weather for not letting Novoa screw that inning up.
  20. I'm sorry, if there's one thing that the Internet has taught me about sports, it's that there are classless fans everywhere. Yes, what the fans did to Hawkins there was inappropriate and rude. He rubbed many fans the wrong way and he was inconsistent as a setup man. However, we're not alone in this. Fans everywhere are classless and rude. Take a stroll around the internet and various message boards. Read what various AL East fans had to say about Matt Clement taking a comebacker off the head. Read the reactions to Mark Prior taking a comebacker off the elbow. Todd Hollandsworth fouling a ball off his shin. Terrell Owens breaking his leg. The list goes on. Does it make it right? No. Is every fan like this? Of course not. But, it's an unfortunate fact of sports. Philadelphia is not the only city responsible for that kind of thing, nor is Chicago.
  21. I think Hawkins is about to pull a Manuel Wright on the mound. It's classless and tasteless, but man, it's been effective.
  22. Oh my. That's absolutely horrible. I wish him nothing but the best. Geez.
  23. It's freakin' windy here right now. Even if the game is played tonight, it will be one heck of an adventure.
  24. Bo, One of the biggest burning questions Cubs fans seem to have this season center around Brian Dopirak, whose struggles in these parts have not gone without notice. His strikeout and walk numbers are on par with where he was last season, but his average and power are both down significantly. What's happened to Brian? Has he been battling injuries or exhaustion this season? Or does it seemed like he's been overmatched by FSL pitching? Or is it something else? Thanks a bunch for this!
