I don't know if I really want the Marlins to win this series. The Nats are falling back to Earth, but the last thing the Cubs want is for the Marlins to heat up.

I still think it's a ruse by Jim Hendry to keep teams from bending him over a barrel for middle relief and starting pitching help. Dollars to donuts says that Wood pitches out of the BP in the minors and his shoulder tightens up again, causing him to be shut down and require surgery.

Bare has not played 3B since joining the Cubs. I'm unsure as to whether he still could at a moment's notice.

I'm curious to see how they hold up injuries-wise. Pettitte and Oswalt both have established injury histories and I'm hearing that Roger's back is not in very good shape these days. Also, I'm rather surprised that Lidge's arm has not exploded yet.

Truthfully, how many teams actually have good bullpens beyond one established stud in there?

Chacon was a highly thought of prospect back in the day, but Colorado decided to throw him into the bullpen for some reason. Not a bad deal, imo.

Not only that.... if Hendry somehow expands it again to include Minnesota and can pry away JC Romero from them.... :D Good times -- my brain is swirling and my hopes are getting pretty high -- time to try and get myself back down to reality. We might as well get Florida in on it while we're at it. ;)

Ooooooooooo, let's have some fun with this one. Let's say there's a three way trade that somehow sees Soriano go to Boston and Manny to the Cubs. What would the salary considerations, prospects, and other players involved look like in order to make the deal palatable to all teams? I'm going to take a guess that Texas would have interest in a major league ready starting picher and a center fielder.

Nomar's starting at SS for the Chiefs today! So far he's helped turn a double play, drew a walk, and scored a run.

In the longterm, Kazmir for Zambrano will probably be a bad trade for the Mets, but right now, Zambrano is pitching better than Kazmir. He has a higher VORP, a lower ERA, fewer walks, much better runs prevented, etc. Kazmir is ten years younger than Zambrano, and we assume he will get better than he is now, but in the present, Zambrano is the better pitcher. At the time he was traded, Kazmir was considered by many people to be a top 5 overall prospect, the top left handed pitching prospect, and the #2 pitching prospect (behind King Felix) in all of baseball. Although I think Victor Zambrano is a decent pitcher, a prospect like that should net you much more than just a decent pitcher in a trade. It was also absolutely bizarre considering how far out of the race the Mets were when they acquired Benson and Zambrano last season.

Forums mean as much as stuff written in a men's bathroom stall. If some one legit comes out and reports this, then we'll talk.

I'm curious to see if this deal is true. If it is, I'd like to see what prospects they gave up to get Huff. Given Lamar's demands for prospects, I would be surprised if the deal was equivalent to Gerut + Marshall + Hill for Huff on the Cubs end.

One more question Bo! :D What have you thought about Juan Mateo so far? He's posted some pretty nice numbers this season and seems to have been on a bit of a hot streak as of late. What kind of stuff does he have and how does he projects in the majors?
