  1. Please sign him Wade! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!
  2. For those of you wondering, Soriano's getting paid $1m less per year than Hunter.
  3. Reportedly, the deal is worth $80m. He's getting paid an average of 16 million wingwangs a year!!!!!!!!!
  4. I...really have no idea. You can supply some sort of vague justification for some of the more questionable moves this summer, but this one just doesn't make any sense. Hunter supplies more power, but Matthews is more patient. Overall, Hunter's a slightly better hitter than Matthews...who isn't a very good hitter in the first place. Neither has the kind of bat that justifies starting either at a corner OF spot.
  5. Could be, sure. But, I don't see the Marlins being very willing to pony up the cash he's due for the rest of his contract.
  6. Don't they already have Gary Matthews Jr.? What the eff?
  7. Source? And 4 years? Wow. Just...wow.
  8. The dumb kU fan who made that spelled Missourian wrong... not that I would expect kU alums to know how to spell or anything. lol @ you Hee hee hee. It's MissouriFan
  9. Yep. Teams like KC and Pittsburgh have a tendency to do it, as well. The D-Rays have been surprisingly patient with their young pitching prospects, though. The Nats are fairly notorious for rushing their guys. Cordero and Zimmerman both made their major league debuts with the Nationals the same year they were drafted.
  10. Which of those guys belong to the BBWAA? I'm pretty sure Gammons, Neyer, Stark, and Rogers are in it, but I'm not 100% sure about everyone else.
  11. How do you differentiate value to a team from how good a player is, if you do that at all? Is this an argument along the lines of, "David Ortiz doesn't deserve the MVP because he has a number of good hitters and defenders surrounding him, meaning the Red Sox could live without him" or leaning more towards, "Hanley Ramirez deserves the MVP because the Marlins would likely be the worst team in baseball if a league-average player was at SS instead of him"?
  12. Conger started out in the Arizona League after being drafted and also spent some time this past season in the AZ League (15 ABs, was he injured?). Snider started out in the Appalachian League. Both played in the full season Midwest League this past year. It's rare to see a recent draftee be immediately sent to a full season league, though.
  13. Thanks for that, Nate! It depends on the guy. They've been incredibly patient with Pie, promoting him one step at a time, one year at a time. However, they've been happy to call up guys like Murton, Greenberg, Gallagher, Marshall, and Marmol despite a relative lack of experience in the upper minor leagues. Most of the time, the Cubs tend not to challenge guys with promotions and are instead content to keep them at the same levels all season; especially if their team is in a potential playoff hunt or if it's a guy's first full season of baseball. They tend to promote relievers quickly, though.
  14. Bill Plaschke pretty much invented the love letter to crappy baseball players. That's all I need to know.
  15. FTH? He wasn't even the best shortstop in his division.
  16. Might want to edit that language a tad.
  17. I heard he's taking 1,000 grounders a day this offseason, so presumably they are going to try and keep him at third. I guess they are just going to try and bludgeon the rest of the NL Central to death. The way their defense is shaping up, I have my doubts that it'll work, but I haven't really thought about it. Interesting. I had also heard they were considering moving him to LF. Oh well, rather his defense at third. If they move Braun to LF, what the heck do they do with LaPorta? He could be a valuable trade chip and all, but I have a feeling the Brewers didn't draft him with the intent of trading him.
  18. You think the Yankees deal with A-Rod will fall apart? Seems awfully far along in the process combined with such a huge contract makes it incredibly unlikely IMO that one side would walk away now. I'm not believing a word of it until the deal becomes official.
  19. I could see this as a prelude to the Angels signing A-Rod or trading for Tejada.
  20. And to think I voted for him to be a mod. Live in fear my verbal skills!
  21. I knew what this link was before I even clicked it. However, for whatever reason, I have grown to enjoy this song.
