  1. Seconded. I'm fine with trading Colvin and Veal since I'm skeptical of their abilities to reach their ceilings compared to guys like Gallagher and Pie.
  2. Better deal for the Mets than the one the Giants gave to Barry Zito.
  3. Sean Casey is made of pure Awesomium.
  4. Let me guess, he wants a phrenology examination of each player?
  5. I find it funny that Tom Hume's glasses have become standard on every sorority girl in the country.
  6. Would these trade talks still be going on if Hendry and MacPhail were not friends?
  7. Don't most threads around here turn out that way? I think if we removed all of the off-topic stuff from this thread, we'd have only 100 pages.
  8. When you become a mod you can do that all by yourself. Kick a guy while he's down why don't you? :(
  9. I'll throw in my vote for Jordan Danks. I don't know much about anyone else at this point, but I like what I've read about him.
  10. Ceda still could pan out as a starter. Apparently he prefers relief work, but if he could stick at SP...yikes.
  11. Next offseason, I'm going to request this board put a moratorium on any rumors involving the Orioles until everything is finalized and it's reported as official on MLB.com.
  12. He was a good defensive catcher, but that was about it. Sad to see the guy go, but he had a good career and a WS ring. That's pretty good, imo.
  13. Flowing blonde locks do not lend themselves to grit. In fact, they make old, balding, overweight sportswriters jealous and vindictive.
  14. TOWERS I'm back and forth on Towers. He's done a good job, for the most part, when it comes to acquiring pitching, but when it comes to acquiring offense, drafting, and developing players, he hasn't been all that good.
  15. Well, don't forget that our boy Jim traded 3 solid arms for him only 2 years ago.....I'm still trying to get over that. Yeah, it still haunts me that we lost 2 terrible SP's and one average bullpen arm. Sucks that we got that Donaldson guy as well. It's not necessarily that I'm pissed off about the success of the players we ended up trading. Far from it. It's just that those three guys had enough value at the time to be traded for someone better than Juan Pierre.
  16. There's a difference between "dumb" and "disastrous". Hendry has made plenty of mistakes when it comes to acquiring players, be it through trades or free agency. If you want the most egregious ones, I'm willing to throw out names such as Jacque Jones, Jeromy Burnitz, and Jason Marquis as examples of higher profile signings which he screwed up. Considering Pedro Feliz would have been a bench guy, names like Damian Jackson, Neifi Perez, and Lenny Harris all immediately come to mind. Those are just through free agency. I can happily throw out some great names he's traded for during his tenure. Jose Macias and Juan Pierre bring back all sorts of fond memories, don't they? Come on, you don't think this team would even have considered Feliz, given Ramirez's continuing nagging injuries and our perceived lack of RH power off the bench? You don't think Hendry would have considered giving Feliz a one year contract? You think Hendry would have been fine letting Theriot, DeRosa, and Fontenot fight over the backup 3B role? You have more faith in the man than I'd have expected. Calling him mediocre is a compliment.
  17. I'd be fine getting him in a trade with the Dodgers where the Cubs make out like bandits. I like to think it's possible, given how much of a complete twit Ned Colletti is. However, it won't be happening.
  18. A drop in production, really? He had 8 less hits in 07 than in 06, but his average went up a point. He had 9 more runs, and 1 more RBI. Oh, and 6 more stolen bases along with an increased SB%. Hmmmm, his SLG did go down, guess we shouldn't be looking for him to bat in the middle of the order anymore should we? He's garbage. I can't believe anyone would seriously advocate for Pierre's return.
  19. I'm thankful someone took Fleas off the market. I was getting nervous that Jimbo might pull one of his patented dumb signings.
  20. But you have to understand, he made Granderson fall down!
