  1. Why? Conf. Championship gets you extra practice time for your players and shortens the gap between the regular and bowl seasons. You need to add the team to get the conf. championship Doesnt seem to bother USC year in and year out and the Pac10 did well this year in their bowl games. How's this for expansion. Have ever B10 team play each other instead of just 8. This will get rid of some of those OOC clunkers.
  2. Theriot has a good bat, he drives/lines the ball well and had good LEVEL swings. HIs BB/K ratio is really good, especially for a non power hitter so he has control of the strikezone and the plate. Lous is right about drivin the inside pitches(he may look like a hero given his comments about Theriot and his HRs) but its about driving the ball down the line getting 'on the pitch' and expanding his zone further and not about the dongers. The HR power is funny though.....um especially the grand slam isnt it :)
  3. Its CRAZY good. The last really good one i can think of is the Pippen Trail Blazers vs the Shaq and Kobe Lakers. Then you gotta go back to some of the Knicks V. Bulls. There was a Kings/Lakers in there somewhere too i think. This is the only game 7 where im like nooo i want more. The finality of a game 7 is always intense but every game of this series up to 7 has unlike any other playoff series. Its almost anti climatic at the same time.
  4. I like Harrison too, he and Tommy at DT i think is solid. Gilbert is also going to get looks at DE according to Angelo. This is Ogun's last year and the Bears dont really have a LDE behind him. Gilberts versatility is another assest.
  5. I didnt get the Lions taking Pettigrew either. Oher was sitting in their laps, they needed a LT and also with the addition of Oher they would kick Backus inside and upgrade the LG at the same time. Pettigrew better be really good for the lions and Oher better bust.
  6. I like Angelos' draft this year. Alot of the players drafted have some good scouting grades by different services. The only pick that i might be critical of is Henry Melton, all the other ones are great values according to the scouts rankings. Iglesias at #99 was sweet. DJ Moore was a nice grab too, he should compete against Manning for the nickel back right away. At least 4 of these guys should see the field this year non-special team wise; Gilbert, Iglesias, Moore and Knox(in the slot), maybe Freeman and Melton. Angelo made up for the lack of the 1 with value and depth.
  7. Id go all Mike Ditka and give the cardinals the Bears remaining picks. The Bears would still have the comp 3rd and the comp 7s. This is like drafting Bolden at 2 and saying screw it to the 4 and 5s which arent worth that much anyways.
  8. The Bears never had a shot before, now they are in the game. Bolden is a perfect fit. Bolden>Marshall. This would be nuts.
  9. Trading down seems very possible with Angelos history, id be all for that. I dont want to see any more 5ths and 6th added though. 6's and 7s are almost worthless, 5s are right on the boarder. One thing i hoping not to see is the Bears drafting a player from some college ive never heard of. Angelos can have at it in Rd 6 and 7 but just once id like to see the Bears not get some no name school off the beaten path prospect where I have to scower the internet to find a scouting report on this guy.
  10. Man Boston really is OLD, nursing home old. Talk about open shots for Boston, i think they were more open than in the shootaround.
  11. Really? A reach? I thought I remember that pick being praised from the beginning. I thought he was considered something like 1st round football ability but slipped only because of a perceived lack of athleticism. Maybe that's just my memory in hindsight, but I have vague recollections of a generally upbeat response to that selection while seeing some video of him at Nebraska. I don't remember him being a reach at all. One of his coaches called him the smartest football player he'd ever seen coming out of Nebraska. Back in those days, it actually meant something. Brown was second safety taken in that draft and i dont think he was rated that high by scouts. It wasnt a fall off your rocker reach like Daniel Manning but i seem to remember at least a few second guessers. Yeah everything i saw on his highlights made me pretty excited about that pick at that time too. One position that im not overly concerned about measurables is the S position if they can make plays. Rashad and M.Brown made plays. B. Biggs of the Sun-Times says Angelos and the Bears like Rashad.
  12. Kiper and McShay's mocks both have Nicks and Britt selected between 25-30. Im not sold on DWilliams as a receiver, especially as Hesters compliment. The guy i like is FS Rashad Johnson. Ive seen that dude play a couple games and he jumps out at you. He doesnt have the all 'athletic tools' has but he most importantly he knows where to be and sees the field. Mike Brown didnt have the measurables either and was considered a reach when the Bears drafted him as their 2nd rounder, i think Rashad is a lot like Brown as far as what you see him do on the football field. Its not like Rashad is totally unathletic either, hes plenty fast enough for a FS. This guys starts immediately wherever he goes and isnt a project.
  13. I also like Rose's ability to drive to left or at the hoop and use his left hand. And if they can get a big man that can play the screen/pick role and put the ball on the floor watch out. Miller needs to stop trying to put it on the floor too. Rondo is crazy good too. He makes some fantastic moves to the hoop and shots in the paint. I still dont get how a guy that athletic cant jump shoot worth a damn. The dude is like the Ben Wallace when it comes to jumps shots for PGs. There was a time last game where he was a foot inside the top of the key and whoever was playing him dared him to shoot it. Everyone PG in the league dots that dudes eye instantly. I know the talk is all about the big 3 but Rondo is really valuable for them, hes unheralded. There are some really good PGs in the league thats for sure.
  14. Pierce says they have only played their C game. This is absolutly insulting to the Bulls. Nobody could of guarded Gordon last night, nobody. I like KG but it appeared that during and after the game he was yelling at the Bulls bench area, whatsup with that. Dude says the MF word or variables of it a lot.
  15. Im of the opinion Cutler will make the current Bears receivers better too. Receivers wont come to Chicago to die anymore. Id like to see Lloyd again at least on the roster and hopefully Bennett can be Cutlers slot receiver and pass Davis on the depth chart. Olsen will be a nice RZ threat running some fades because he has a qb who knows how to throw the ball now. Orton threw some pretty crummy end zone fades to Olsen when he lined up outside last year.
  16. Ben Gordon was unbelievable shooting the ball. It wasnt as if he was just hitting open shots. The only shots he missed were when he was falling on his ass and he made half of those. I definetly think the Bulls can take them.
  17. That's not the way I understand it. Brey was after him. Brey could of been after him harder but he was offered a scholarship from ND by Ty. UM has a scholarship available and it wouldnt hinder the 2010 recruiting class schoolies. RR said something a couple weeks ago that they were looking at filing some open spots from the 2009 class and mentioned QB. Wonder if something was in the works then.
  18. But there is nobody behind him since Threet left (Sheridan sucks). The other freshman Qb isnt on campus yet and its unknown if he will play qb/wr/cb. Paulus probably wont start but he might actually get some playing time behind Forcier as the #2 on the depth chart. THis is a little weird though.
  19. I know he hasnt played a down yet but when i looked at the Pitt and the Ravens games i didnt think DEATH like i would of without Cutler. I dont particularily like the season opening Sunday night game at the Packers, sure it will exciting but id rather they play a cupcake the first game. Nothing like throwing Cutler in the fire right off the bat.
  20. Paulus was a 5 Star recruit coming out of HS so hes got/had talent. He could of played both sports at a program if he would of accepted the football scholarship(Miami and ND i think), instead he took the Duke scholarship and in essence shut the door of playing football. Strange decision if you ask me. Maybe he can go to the CFL or something.
  21. I'm starting to sour on Robiske a little. I like him. But I think I like Iglesias better. I think Iglesias is actually a better route runner and is great after the catch. The west coast offense needs guys who can make plays after the catch. It is predicated on short passes and west coast teams tend to get big yards by getting their WRs the ball in space. One thing I want to point out though is if people didn't want Harvin because he was too much like Hester.....I think Iglesias is a lot like Bennett. Similar size. Similar lack of blazing speed. Both produced in college. Robiske will be a decent WR, but I don't think he is the best fit. Kenny Britt would easily be my #1 choice though of the guys who have a chance at being there at 49. You phrased the response I was trying to formulate in my head. The Bears don't need a receiver who can go a few yards, catch the ball and fall down. They need guys who can get yards after catch, especially drafting on the first day. Olsen and Clark are two good guys for the get out there and catch a pass role. They don't need a WR to do the same thing. They need another guy who can be a weapon. Those type of guys are the 4 first round wrs. Maybe Nicks falls to the Bears, who knows. The only other guy that is a 1st day WR fitting this bill is Derrick Williams and he has size concerns. Britt is pretty good in open field not necessarily shaking and baking but he can run through tackles for YAC. I definetly seen better from OSU than Robiskie, he's not sexy but he runs the routes gets open down the field and has good size/speed, once he is touched yes he goes down. Holt isnt great shaking and baking or breaking tackles, he is really good because he is quick and can get open and catch the ball. Robiskie isnt as quick as Holt but getting open is important. If you cant get open having moves in the open field is worthless. Thats the knack/question on Harvin and could cause him to be a total bust.
  22. ...getting bleacher seats when Lilly pitches. Bullpen is looking solid. Patton has a nice offspeed pitch to go with a good fastball. Lotsa encouraging things in the first 3 games.
  23. Nicks won't be available at #49 but i can hope. Britt, Robiskie and Ilgesias are guys i like at that spot. I think these guys will compliment Hester on the other side. CBSsporsline has some lengthy scouting reports on players over at that site. These are snips. Robiskie Once he catches it he goes down, but with Cutler at qb im fine with that as his weakness. His pass catching and route running are his strenths. Ilgesias
  24. This draft class is rather unimpressive to me. Blake Griffin is very talented but a lot of his damage is done on the blocks with his back to basket (hes got size, but enough?). I question how effective thats going to be in the NBA. He is good on the glass and the open floor but i rarely saw him doing anything facing the basket.
