  1. With Jesus Singletary as the head coach? I highly doubt it. And Singletary can sell the 'forgiveness'. Its not like Mike hasnt helped trouble people in the past or shun them.
  2. I get drunk and drink more beer when watching football than i do baseball, no denying that. Ill watch football for hours on saturday and sunday, but i like the 'fluidity' of the baseball season. When i retire and am crusty old i look forward to the opportunity of watching every Cubs game.
  3. Vick as a niner makes the most sense to me.
  4. Yesterday i was looking at tickets for a UM game and for the hell of it i clicked on the premium seats/suites to the Big House. As a university they have the space of the suite as a 'donation', you pay the hard costs of tickets ~$12,000. The yearly package to a suite/box is $85,000. It then explains that $58,000 is tax deductable. Thats pretty awesome loophole for colleges to attract suite buyers that i never heard of before.
  5. It was more fun when WGN had the score 3-0 Cubs. I turned on my mlb.tv and i was like sweet.
  6. He's done that a few times this year, but since his numbers are fine people haven't complained. This. Hmmm, maybe ive missed some of those. At the middle to end of last year the severity was pretty extreme, he was drilling himself to the center of the world on the outside low and away pitches.
  7. If the spinorama rears its ugly head again like it did late last year, send the coach the DVD right away. Kosuke is good hitter when he stays in, if its because of his elbow then good they found the source.
  8. Ass backward. A LOOGY a freaking LOOGY. Let me know when a LOOGY earns starter paydays. This wont last long if it does. It can't it just can't. Wheres Mike Stanton, jeez i just said that.
  9. I'm not even 100% convinced he'll throw that much more than the Bears did last year. If you figure in what should be a better defense, preventing them from getting in the crazy shootouts, and a more dependable running game, Cutler shouldn't have to throw a ton. If you factor in what should be an increased completion percentage and increased yards per attempt, the number of attempts doesn't necessariliy have to go up all that much. 550 certainly isn't out of the question, but I think that might be the upper end of the range. On the other hand, being able to sustain a drive will give him additional opportunities to pass, too. Third and long will no longer = DEATH. Heres another thing im looking forward to... Cutler=611 Attempts: 11 sacks Orton=465 Attempts: 27 sacks Cutler doesnt have the line Denver has but there will be improvement in the sacks department with Cutler running the show.
  10. The only other in the prime 'All Pro' qb traded/FA signing i can think of is Drew Brees. And he didnt have a lot of talent at the WR positon either. Colston was a rookie that year and Horn could be mentioned as a #1 but he only played 10 games. The 4-5 years Trent Green played really well in KC he had his #1 WR, Eddie Kennison, Eddie was terrible for the Bears but put together some solid seasons with Green, Johnie Morton (oooh) was his #2. Green had Gonzalez but Cutler has Clark AND Olsen. Brady had Branch, Givens, Brown and Caldwell was his #1 the year before Moss came to town, none of those guys are #1s you just have to have lining up wide. MCNabb never has had any true #1s either except for TO for 1.5 years. IMO If the Bears offense doesnt improve this year its because of Turner and not the 'weapons'. The national media also forgots Forte as being a weapon. Dude caught 61 passes last year. This might be a little hopeful on my part but with Cutler in town the Bears can really spread the field out. Forte is a great back to have as he releases and gets open out the backfield really well, you dont just need wrs and qb to spread teams out, a pass catching RB is important too.
  11. 66 on the nicknames. When i saw who The Black Mamba was i said whatever. I dont ever remember hearing him called that. I swept Football and NASCAR(alright it was only 2).
  12. Chad Fox... "Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man."
  13. This is true, IMO only something to consider if he was the DC, which before HC he never was a DC. As a line coach he wont get the attention/distraction. Look at Morninwheg, dude was a laughing stock HC and Philly took him as OC and he is doing very well at what he is good at. I remember the Bears needing an OC at that time and there were rumors of MW as OC at that time, i was ok with it because thats what he is good at. Marinara was 0-16 but still well respected as a dline coach, so i dont see a huge blackeye/distraction. Yes...Marinara for fun. Some of you Chicago guys remember Kevin Matthews right? This is what 'Jim Shorts' called him on our local radio here in GR MI.
  14. Cantus by far the best option, with the Orioles trio and Atkins the most realistic. Im betting that once they find out what Aramis' status is, hendry will get to work. Even if Its just a 6 weeks thing, I wouldnt be opposed to Wiggington since he can play all around the field and be of use down the line. Wigginton would make Miles that much more unnecessary. I'd be fine with him or any of the O's trio. Cantu will likely cost too much. We might be able to dump some MiL pitching (Hart/Adkins/Wells/Stevens/Gaub/Archer - maybe one-two of those) to get Beltre. I just wish Durham played third base. No but Fontenot sortof can. So you got Ray Ray at 2b and fontenot at 3b. Font is better than any FAS 3b available and Ray is still a pretty good 2b and better than Miles/Scales. And this is not anywhere near as fatal as the Furcal/DLee catastophe a couple years ago. Bradley will hit. And who cares if Soto doesnt go centerfield/RF. Dude is a pull hitter, let him rip it and drive the damn ball. Its not like he is a free swinging pull hitter. His walk total is still good. He will come around. Maybe this team will have to work harder than i thought and wont achieve 97 wins. But they are still deep offensively and still playoff contenders. Just get in the playoffs with all the pieces, thats all ive asked.
  15. Just need him to for playoffs. I think they can get there without him. I know Fontenot isnt the best 3b but there arent any better out there that i can think of. Sign Durham and shift MF to 3b, thats my thought right now without knowing the full landscape of available 3b.
  16. He got busted on a non-analytical positive for hCG, after previously failing a test for artificial testosterone. MLB wasn't sure it could get the suspension to stick if they went after whatever he used to boost his testosterone. The suspension is the same for either, so they went with the one he couldn't fight. Yep, i thought Manny was just using the HCG as a simple excuse for failing the test as i hadnt read anything concrete what he tested for yet. I wonder what his test levels were. Anyway. This is his first positive test in what 3 years, 4 years? To be fair this could of been his first time using, i know doubtful but he hasnt been busted before, so he earns something. And to say his WHOLE career is tarnished is just too harsh IMO. Same goes for Bonds, before 99 he won what 3 MVPS. Gotta look at the whole picture.
  17. No it's not. That's the front shoulder at the plate. The throwing is a controlled motion you can work with a little bit less ability on. The front shoulder at the plate is something you just have to let rip, especially the way he swings. That's what killed Rolen. I'm reeeeeaaaaal worried at this point. Do you remember how long Rolen was out? And yeah the Scales slide was all kinds of awesome.
  18. They can't detect certain steriods. For instance if i took Sustanon 250, a very popular and good steroid, i wouldn't test positive for that certain steriod i would simply show levels of high testosterone in my blood. And from what i understand Manny had high levels of testosterone in his blood which seems weird for just Clomid use. Any doctor would do blood work before he prescriped Clomid, if you have normal levels of testosterone it really is worthless and unnesessary. Dude got busted for test even if he was also on Clomid.
  19. Id like to see college adopt the continuation rule like the NBA. More excitement added, plus it rids the game of a cheap way to play defense and not really being penalized.
  20. How does this great thread and offseason get ruined? Brett Favre. That [expletive]er.
  21. I flip flop a lot on keeping Gordon. It sucks losing his scoring but on the otherhand I really like Salmons he can shoot off the dribble, hit the 3s, drive to the hoop and plays better D than Gordon, he was a real solid addition to this team (man i hated Larry Hughes' game). Salmons takes the sting out of losing Gordon as he can play the 2 too. What position is Tyrus, i dont really think he is PF, he is more a SF to me who blocks shots. Salmons, Gordon, Deng, combo forward Tyrus, even put Hinrich as a combo guard and where are all the minutes for 2 positions? Deng can play when he plays, Gordon would seem to be expensive insurance(Salmons moves to the 3). Theres risk looking ahead to 2010 of Bosh and Amare and not getting them but i think this worth the risk to not signing Gordon(there will be other guys available to fill this spot if Amare or Bosh don't come). Noah, the guy is really good fit for this team and i like how his game fits in with what the Bulls do. They need 1 more guy underneath(impact player), overloading the backcourt with talent wont get it done in my opinion. And if i had my choice its Bosh over Amare.
  22. I found it on the yahoo home page and thats where i learned about it. "Denise Richards blunders baseball song" or something like that. So she can't sing....how many of them do. I wouldnt call what she did a blunder.
