  1. Mizzou is the 2nd or 3rd best offense in the SEC.
  2. How many Michigan games did he cover this year? That migh be why he would be impressed.
  3. I thought this was the worst USC team since 2001. They are still really good though. agreed, there worst offense in many years. Sanchez is just not a great QB. He has great tools, just hasn't put them all together. I saw somewhere sanchez was a top 20 pick this year and i was like....huh
  4. Alabama would freaking destroy OSU offense and Pryor.
  5. I dont believe in the "B12 cant play defense BS". If these defense were playing tradition set offenses then i would, but they are not. OU's front 4 is really good.
  6. I cant believe it either. I wasnt so shocked they beat UCLA because UCLA offense isnt a juggernaut, but Duke? Duke knocked the crap out of a good Purdue team. I thought Purdue would be competitive that day. After i saw that game i thought UM had no chance today. These 2 wins could really help them getting in tournament this year.
  7. I see that too. I also watch bradford and i think of brady.
  8. I love it when that thing tips over.
  9. Rocket arm no really like flames come off the ball, more mobility and speed than you would think for a guy his size, not a statue in the pocket like John Navarre. Can make all the throws but was inconsitent at times. For a true freshman i though he played well but needs work which is to be expected.
  10. Wow Tuberville out via scout.com. Mike Leach flight to Washington is probably being diverted as we speak. If he goes they might actually get the Airraid offense this time around at Auburn. From what i understand it sounded stupid that Tuberville would bring in a spread offense coordinator but then not let him fully utilize it. And Tressel is a really good coach. Yes he got his ass handed to him by Meyer 2 years ago. Last years team wasnt all that great to begin with. Rewind to their NC team, they beat a uber talented defending champion Miami team that nobody gave them a shot at. His defense is always solid, the offense isnt sexy and slows it down with a lead but in the end his teams get it done.
  11. Heisman Has there ever been 1 time all 4 candidate invited to the selection played the same position? There have been close votes in the years past between 1 and 2 but 1 and 3? or even 1 and 4?, this year has got to be right up there.
  12. They really ought to change the name from Challenge to something else.
  13. I cant believe how bad the jags have been playing either. I feel better about sunday.
  14. I was all for going for it for reasons stated. I would of preferred them bringing in more receivers or flanking Olsen wide to spread that defense out. But eh, its easy to say that now. And i have never been more frustrated with the FB dive in all my life this year. I want to put a gun to my head after i watch that play fail over and over. Adrian Peterson took a beating sunday night. He has great abilities but in return for his style he gets POUNDED. I worry about Forte carrying the ball so much but he no where near gets the punishment that AP takes.
  15. If we had a little bit of offense this year and our QB could hand the ball off, it wouldn't have been an embarassment this year. That said, if Tebow and Harvin are back next year you may be right. And I don't think Spurrier's that livid over this, but thought it was funny that he was pitching a fit already. If you had a little bit of offense this year and your QB could hand the ball off, it would have been a bigger embarrassment this year. Florida scored effectively against you guys. They didn't rack up gobs of points because the game was short. I think they only got 7 possessions when a typical Oklahoma game has 13 or 14 possessions. Also, you played the Gators before they knew what they had in Demps and Rainey. The offense is in another gear with those two in the mix. In fact, Demps didn't even play on offense in that game. If Tennessee played the Gators in November you and I both know it would have probably wound up 55-3 or something worse. Not to be a dick but you dont have to be dick about this, show some respect. Its not like UT is Vanderbilt, they bring in some very good players and have talented players on the current roster. I for one wouldnt slight Lane or Monte Kiffin.
  16. Speaking of Mike Brown. The dude has been making some phenominal open field tackles lately. The last 3-4 games its like the old mike brown disecting and making plays.
  17. I would but not to sound like a 80 year old grandpa, just give me some damn football to watch. Ive become very apathetic to the whole BCS process and the slice and dice of who should play in the NCG. This is the year that everybody warned about the flaws of the BCS and a 2 team championship. In years past i could draw line the line from #2 to #3 confidently. This year its hard to draw the line from #1 to #5. It'll be like the 1990s all over again with somebody winning a New Years Day bowl game and people saying they should be #1 despite the outcome of the 1V2 game(i.e. USC, do you remember the carson palmer USC beating Iowa, okay that wasnt 1990's but it happened in the 90s too and if it didnt it was just an expression ha).
  18. Goaline FB dive. WTH. That play has worked what 1 out of 8 or 9 times on short yardage. And you decide to run into to the teeth of the best DT in the game? Im not going to blame Turner for that play completely switching the momentum of the game but jeeesh, can we finally bury that play in the playbook. I thought the defense played better than the score indicated. Once again Peterson beats them on a large run, at least this time they had guys in position to make the tackle. And did Tillman run peterson down, sure looked like it to me. 6-6. Now i think they need to run the table. I dont know if 9-7 gets it done. How the tiebreakers after the next 4 games shakes out i dont know.
  19. You'd think someone from the B12 would hire a defensive coordinator from the vaunted defensive minded SEC to stop the potent b12 offenses. You know someone who ran a Nick Saban National Championship LSU team or those 2 great Auburn defenses of 07 and 06. Oh wait Will Muschamp is the DC at Texas. How did he do against TT and OU this year. Yeah he got lit up too.
  20. And you could subsitute Leach for Rodriquez and Lubbuck for Morgantown and it would be the same story. RRod said that its a LOT easier recruiting for UM than WVU, he "doesnt need to tell kids where Ann Arbor is at" tell the story etc. With a little snake oil and a wizard hat the 2008 recruiting class had more 4* players than ALL of his years combined at WVU. Im pretty sure 2009 will break that benchmark too. I firmly believe if you can coach AND you are at a top notch school you can recruit Rewind. Nick Saban the 'great recruiter' got beat out year after year against Michigan, hell this years class by Dantonio is probably one of their best. Saban leaves MSU to go to the recruit hotbed of LSU and boom he gets the recruites to come. Urban Meyer. He comes from Utah what did he really do of any significance recruiting wise. Add to that the mass media and other fan speculation that his 'mickey mouse spread offense' wont work in the SEC; look who is laughing now. Those are 3 examples i think of at the top of my mind.
  21. Guys like Leach, Kelly, Peterson, etc would of retooled the offense to more a spread style. Lane's style of offense at USC wont be that much of difference than what they run now at UT. Lane was also the recruiting coordinator at USC, yeah i know anybody could recruit at USC but he was still in an important position. Lane may or may not have the upside as the candidates being thrown around but i think the transition will be much smoother in the short term. Lane had pure crap to work with on the offense side of the ball and the front office at Oakland. You almost have to throw that out. Lets not call handling NFL pressure into question and then wonder if he can coach against a guy like Petrino either. For rumors, there was a rumor i heard from a friend that Kelly if offered was going to bring his former D coordinator (Chuck Martin, now the HC) from his DII team. Thats a name that might pop up for a midlevel school this off season.
  22. In my household we openly cheer against Detroit and laugh when they lose, really its become a tradition in of itself. There was a period that they were actually tough to beat on Thanksgiving Day, now they just get the piss beat out of them. If Detroit were to be axed id like that game to be a rematch of the previous years Super Bowl with the loser of that game being the home team on Thanksgiving.
  23. I dont buy Herbies arguement that they are who they are, average. Average programs don't put together recruiting classes like Weis has for the last 3 years. And these players arent all necessarily CW's players still. He was hired after the 2004 season, good luck finding good recruits to come to a program in disaray that time of year. The 2006 freshman class(truly his first) had 2 highly rated QB's and the time they were ready to take over for Brady Quinn one transfered early and the other transfered after the first game. In came Clausen, true freshman pocket passer dont have near the quick impact of the more mobile qbs in CFB (Chad Henne is a rare exception and he had way more talent than Clausen had around him). Clausen probably should of improved more this year than he did though, thats a negative against Charlie. How much progress he makes next year is telling to me. College football is all about the QB's. John Tenuta is a helluva football coach. The scheme change this year shouldnt be forgotten. Im not a fan of Weis but he deserves one more year(and that extension was freaking mindless on the admins part.) When he had Brady Quinn it wasnt the offense slowing them down.
  24. Drew Brees is a machine.
  25. I liked the wildcat formation with hester, yah one play but still i liked it. Hester also had a good game at WR. If dbs are going to play off of him stick the curl like he did, and then if they go press throw the fade. He isnt just running go routes anymore. The reverse to start was sweet too. Green said something about the Bears D getting burnt with slants all year but this game the LBs were jumping up to deflect the pass. Don't know if thats the real reason they didnt get gashed, and is that really an effective strategy to stop the slants.
