  1. Of interest: -Open in Milwaukee March 26 -Home opener March 30 vs Pittsburgh -Interleague play against AL East. Red Sox, Rays and Orioles come to Wrigley. Cubs will play in Philly and have 2 off days beforehand and 1 after to travel back home to face Mets https://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/platform/amp/2019/8/12/18646182/cubs-2020-regular-season-schedule?utm_campaign=bleedcubbieblue&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&__twitter_impression=true
  2. I think Thom has a random hatred for Bryant. This HR call and the one in 2016 where he shouted “ENOUGH ALREADY” were both KB at bats
  3. Gotta figure either Chatwood or Underwood. One of the woods
  4. 11 straight road series without a win. Hopefully Lester doesn’t give up 10 ER again Go cubs!
  5. Monty was roughed up in his first start with the Royals but in the 4 starts since then he’s rocking a 2.95 ERA. Of course he is.
  6. Jesus 5 HRs for this dude in 2.5 games this series including 3 today
  7. Good news is that after this series I think we only play the Reds 3 more times this year.
  8. God how thin is our bullpen now? I feel like Cishek’s not really hurt, this was just Theo’s only way to keep Joe from pitching him every game
  9. [tweet] [/tweet] Apparently he tweeted “I’m good” and then deleted it afterwards
  10. So it took the offense 10 innings to get acclimated to the road again
  11. Right? I was in a deep funk all winter, just brutal. The ensuing baseball seasons didn't help matters either. Boston, White Sox, Cardinals? :barf: But 2016 happened and washed all that pain away. Bryant to Rizzo was the most thrilling moment of my life and I stood there like Andy Dufrense in the rain. I will never get tired of reliving that moment. I almost wish I could feel that feeling again but I know nothing sports related will compare. Wisco winning a national championship in football/basketball would come close though. Bears winning the Super Bowl is my white whale now but I know it won't compare at all to 2016.
  12. I'm just more embarrassed about my reaction to it. I was upset for a couple of weeks but I was so certain that with our pitching staff and acquiring Lee, Maddux and Hawkins that we were set up for a long run of success so I mostly got over it and turned towards the next season. Still can't believe how 2004 went down...
  13. OK sorry guys, I didn't realize that game still resonated so strongly with you. At the time it f'd me up way more than I'd care to admit but 16 years and a World Series have made it so I can jokingly call out a typo from Edith and use the gif.
  14. Didn't he retire like five years ago? Sorry Thom. I get them mixed up
  15. With having to play a man down I get why the Reds did this, especially with Wood only going 3 innings. I think he was saying it’s not that big a lead to have one of your best hitters hit from the opposite side of the plate.
  16. Btw if anyone can get the Reds call of that Javy AB, I would kill to hear old Marty’s reaction
  17. Also would have loved to have seen Javy get a hit there for the ensuing Edith comment about how the numbers prove that Javy should hit LH all the time.
  18. I thought he got it for a brief second. If he homered there it easily would have been one my top 5 favorite Cubs moments ever
  19. What the hell just happened For anyone not watching Javy just batted left handed and hit a flyball to center
  20. Maybe we should use an opener for Chatwood
  21. If Happ keeps it up they’ll probably go back to him. And in a playoff series it should be Zobrist. Heyward told Joe that if he puts him at leadoff to have patience meaning stick with him if he struggles to begin with.
  22. Joe got lucky there. Unbelievable that he let Cole face Votto there
