  1. I’m sure facing Votto for the 3rd time in a game when you can’t throw your Breaking ball and have thrown 40 pitches this inning will work out well
  2. Lucroy using his veteran savvy to protect his pitcher
  3. Dammit Lucroy catch pennant race fever already
  4. This is a situation where Cole clearly doesn’t have it and Joe was late to react hoping he could luck his way into finishing the inning
  5. Go back and look at Daniel Murphy’s first 6-7 games with the Cubs last year. Very comparible to what Castellanos has done. Of course the rest of his tenure here was no bueno
  6. I know I shouldn’t actually respond to this discussion but I don’t know what’s better in that post: -Cherry picking examples that prove his point. A 5th header should be able to understand the logical fallacy here -Still not able to explain why the Cubs winning environment was able to impact Jesse Chavez, but didn’t inspire him on any of the other 5 playoff teams he was a part of and pitched anywhere from average to very poor -Using Garcia as an example but only after removing his worst performance -Using Garcia based on 7 apperances
  7. Edit: it’s been 16 years, we’re allowed to laugh about this now right?
  8. I'm going to guess this is just some weird Joe logic where walking into a clubhouse with home jerseys hanging makes them feel like they are at home and thus play better. I can't see them being able to actually wear them in the game. Wait did I say Joe logic? I mean Edith logic.
  9. Murton would’ve been a really good player had he been around a smarter organization and/or was coming up now in the launch angle/juiced ball era. He was basically KB like at the plate from 05-07. It’s also hilarious we got him because Hendry just spoke up on the conference call finalizing the Nomar trade and said we’d take him at the 11th hour when there was confusion which of the teams he was going too and they didn’t have time to sort it through. I'd forgotten about Murton (along with pretty much everyone else from 2005-2014) so I looked up his stats. Am I the only one who didn't know he spent a season at Iowa when he came back from Japan? I remember he was halfway decent and there was a small push by fans to have him promoted to Chicago. Looking back I would have loved for him to have gotten a cameo appearance in September so we could haven given someone from the weird Hendry-era team mid-2000's teams a World Series ring.
  10. He's gonna pitch 18 scoreless innings or something for them, isn't he have you met the mets? I'm pretty sure you were roping someone in to post this but whatever
  11. Reds are actually on a bit of a roll again...have won 8 of their last 11 games. Hopefully #RoadCubs can against all odds slow them down
  12. He also has a .514 OPS at Miller Park this year. Unacceptable. Maybe he needs to go to the Dodgers to get him to play better.
  13. Apparently Chris Davis had to be held back from going after Brandon Hyde. Good to see our old friend is acclimating well
  14. Brewers are on track to sweep Pittsburgh. If they win the Pirates will be 1-12 against the Cubs (0-3), Cardinals (1-6) and Brewers (0-3) since the ASB. Immediately before the break they played 7 games against the Cubs and Brewers and went 5-2
  15. The Cubs have the worst road record in the division but look at the other teams in the division: CHC 21-33 STL 27-32 MIL 26-32 CIN 23-32 PIT 24-34
  16. Yeah you really burned us good
  17. You’ve hit a new low with 1 game sample sizes. I don’t doubt that players can get a spark when going from a bad team to a good team. But it’s not something you can prove, not something you can quantify or predict etc. oh and also your original post was suggesting that merely playing in the same division as the one he used to play in will cause him to play better. You are distancing yourself from that stupidity by changing the parameters of your argument.
  18. At first I kind of liked having his idiot thoughts to laugh at and hoped we wouldnt scare him away, but now he seems to infest every single topic to the point where he is a few days away from being a nuisance
  19. Right last year Boston won when 35 year old Steve Pearce won World Series MVP after getting traded there in season. http://i.imgur.com/3XiKMch.gif
  20. Now do Daniel Descalso. Then do Carlos Gonzalez. Then do Martin Maldonado. Cargo and Descalso aren't even playing let alone in pennant races and MM just won the World Series last year after going to Houston and has caught a no-hitter and has a 1.000+ OPS so far this time around with them. Just a heads up, the Astros won the World Series 2 years ago and Maldonado was not on that team.
  21. Here is how Jesse Chavez performed on playoff teams before 2018: 2010 Angels - 5.89 ERA 2012 A's - 18.90 ERA 2013 A's - 3.92 ERA 2014 A's - 3.45 ERA 2016 Blue Jays/2016 Dodgers - 4.43 ERA Must have taken him awhile to come around to the excitement of being on a winning team!
  22. Yes he sucked with the Rangers and has been great with the Cubs....are you trying to attribute a 2+ run drop in his ERA to the thrill of being on a winning team? Man Descalso must really loathe winning
  23. OPS better than KB's .621 in St Louis, and at least JL gets on base there hitting .295 with a .337 OBP for that OPS. They both have the same amount of hits in St Louis this year, but KB has 17 more AB umm...you know he wasn't actually trying to make a legitimate argument and was mocking you right?
  24. According to fangraphs, his defense (which I believe FG puts a big emphasis on framing) has been below replacement level this year, and way below replacement level in 2017, but pretty good in 2018.
  25. Last road trip: Averaged 3.4 runs per game, scored more than 4 runs in 1 of 9 games This homestand: Have averaged 6.0 runs per game (so far), scored more than 4 runs in 4 of 6 games (and exactly 4 runs in the other 2 games)
