  1. The good thing about Lester as a 5th starter is that he's not awful. He can still give you some really good starts and even in many starts where he's not great he can keep his team in the game. But I think this is the Lester we see for the last 2 years of his contract.
  2. Who needs Edith for random sample sizes when you have the OG? .154/.190/.231/.421 over his last 11 games. Season OPS dropped from .887 to .849 coming into today.
  3. https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBStreams/ The Bilasport one is always the one that seems to work the best for me and has no ads http://bilasport.net/
  4. Damn, Addison getting hit with a wayward bat would have been fitting in so many ways.
  5. Me reading all the other "Why Your Teams Suck" entries vs. me reading today's Bears entry:
  6. McCutchen is probably the best comp except for the age component. That probably gets him to something like the 4/62 Jersey threw out there. While I'm hesitant to look at anything regarding payroll optimistically, they should have enough flexibility to do a deal like that and make a few moves for the pen even if payroll only increases modestly. Absolutely....based on my calculations we are losing ~$76 million from the books not including Arb increases by KB, Javy, Russell (if tendered), Schwarber, Almora and Contreras. That will bring it down to like what $50m? Biggest holes we'd need to replace are 1 starter (Hamels) and 3 pen guys (Strop, Cishek, Kintzler). The rest of the contracts we're losing were either not big factors on the 2019 Cubs or guys we've acquired throughout the season (like Phelps and Lucroy). Edit: Damn TT crushed my "analysis"
  7. The Nats series should be interesting. I saw somewhere that they've been playing at a 108 win pace for the last ~80 games or so, and lately their offense has unreal. RD of +44 in their last 10 games and that's with 2 losses in there.
  8. Don't know about that. He's had some comments about statistics and stuff that the old school guys surely love. Plus he's white so the enthusiasm is perfectly ok with the old schoolers.
  9. Whatever discouragement yesterday's start gave me has been completely erased by Yu's twitter mastery of Kaplan. Is it just me or has Kap been overly meatball this year? I mean he's always had that side to him but its been off the charts lately.
  10. Finally Zaidman's excitement level is equal to the actual level of excitement on the field. Maybe Pat should take his breaks in the late innings instead of the 5th so that it doesn't feel like the Cubs are winning the World Series every time Victor Caratini gets a 2 out bases empty single in a 5-1 game .
  11. The last time Brandon Belt made the final out in a wild game with late Cubs comeback was 2016. Anyone remember that one?
  12. Well that makes one of us. Yeah for real. My sanity was at stake during that replay review
  13. I feel like the only time replays are judged on a “must have indesputable evidence” basis are when it hurts my teams. /sulley
  14. Darvish at home: 5.14 ERA, 17 HR allowed, 70 IP Darvish on road: 3.75 ERA, 13 HR allowed, 74.1 IP Go figure Yu is the only player to play significantly worse at home than on the road
