  1. What the horsefeathers man? Kimbrel signing has gone as great as our other high profile signings recently.
  2. Hope you guys enjoyed that Cardinals loss last night - Cards up 3-0 already in the 1st today
  3. Yep. They go down 4-0 then in 3 straight innings go Leadoff Double Leadoff Homer And now Leadoff Double. If the Cubs did that they would score 1 total run
  4. So lately, mostly because the Cubs have been so annoying off and on, I've pretty much ignored the start of games and only tune in during the last few innings if its close or they are winning. If I had more time I'd watch more regardless of how frustrating they can be but just not prioritizing it as much right now. Reason I'm bringing this up is because I feel like I've somehow missed much of the Castellanos craze. I mean I know he's killing it but I feel like I never catch his HRs or hits live, its always something I watch highlights on the next day. So with that observation, I went to his B-R page and found this: 1. This includes his Tigers numbers, not sure how to break that up 2. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, in fact given how the rest of the Cubs have seemed to start slow offensively, it may be good 3. His career numbers in these situations are similar those slightly less extreme (.899-782-.700) 4. I'm aware that this is probably how most players are with specialized relievers dominating late games. So doesn't really mean anything just an interesting stat.
  5. That’s horsefeathering [expletive]. Use some common sense with this. Joe was obviously waiting for the first challenge to be decided. If this happened in a closer game that would be absolutely enraging
  6. What song was it? Don't notice. His ex-wife’s Bennie and the Jets. They are still married and according to Zo himself they are kind of sort of trying to work things out
  7. It’s crazy how far we’ve strayed from the offense we set out to be circa 2015.
  8. July 3rd the Cubs were in Pittsburgh. Well now we know he’s hitting the sauce too
  9. Thought this was semi interesting [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  10. Obviously means nothing but ESPN simulated the NFL season 20,000 times and the aggregate had the Bears finishing 8-7-1, missing the playoffs by 1/2 game. But interestingly enough, it had the Bears starting the season 0-3 and 4-7-1 with losses to the Packers, Broncos, Redskins, Raiders, Chargers, Rams, and the 0-9 Lions (tie with the Eagles), before beating the Cowboys, Packers, Chiefs and Vikings in a row to finish the season. Packers went 13-3 and won the division but lost in their first playoff game to the Rams and the Saints beat the Chargers in the Super Bowl. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26942340/we-simulated-entire-2019-nfl-season-scores-storylines-all-267-games
  11. I feel the same, just be within 1-2 games heading in to the Wrigley series. It’s still against us at this point with so few games left but there’s a chance. Also I know it’s a trip out there but San Diego is pretty bad themselves if the Rockies are a “shell of themselves.” 19-27 in the second half, Tatis done for the year, Franmil traded, Paddock could be shut down soonish, Greene is likely getting bounced at years end too. That’s pretty bad but the Rockies are on a whole other level. They are 1-11 in their last 12 and 15-41 since the start of July
  12. Seriously though, it’s a head scratcher that Joe couldn’t have found a PA for Zobrist yesterday or today. I know he was on deck when the game ended yesterday but there were other low leverage spots today where he could have appeared (like when Caratini PH today). I do wonder if some in the clubhouse feel like Zobrist quit on the team. I could 1000% be wrong I’ll admit because I know he was respected in the clubhouse before he left and his absence should seem completely reasonable to his teammates. Flame away for speculating this but it just seems odd he couldn’t get a PA while several other players PH
  13. Why in the horsefeathering horsefeathering horsefeathers is Almora the one PH? I know he got INT walked (another wtf) but come the horsefeathers on Joe. I bet Joe is being a meatball and taking the “we have guys that have been here for us all year and Zo is going to have to earn his spot back in the lineup” approach
  14. Wow we actually scored. Would have been hilarious if Rizzo got thrown out trying to advance after taking forever to realize the ball got away
  15. Congrats to Sheffield for the longest outing of his career!
  16. So close JHey but another goose egg for the Cubs. 22 in a row now. (Yes David I’m doing this) Heyward now 0 for his last 24 and 2 for his last 33 With 1 of those hits being an IF single
  17. horsefeathers like this just drives me crazy. Expanded rosters so you don’t need to be worried about running out of guys. I get that there is a defensive component with Heyward but you need to score runs for that to matter.
  18. It didn't fail at all, but intentionally losing 3 years for a competitive window that sure looks like it, charitably, lasted 4 years (I don't see any way these guys do much next year absent huge changes) wasn't quite the idea. At least 5 years. They suck but they are right in the playoff picture. Doesn’t mean it’s not an incredibly disappointing season but if you put the floor to be considered a successful season as making the playoffs they are being competitive in their competitive window. Any rebuild that leads to a championship is in my book successful. They bottomed out to build a championship team. Where we failed is in maintaining a contender. Any team that is successful for 5+ years needs to make good moves throughout to maintain the contender. So in my eye the rebuild was inarguably a complete success. It’s the post-rebuild moves that have been a failure.
  19. It’s who they are. They are an average baseball team that will look very good some days and very bad other days. We’re 140 games in, we are who we are which is a flawed baseball team with talent. I just have no idea how Theo managed to build such a flawed team and presented it as a top World Series contender
  20. Yep horsefeathers the 2019 Cubs
  21. People joke about home and road being reversed all of the sudden but for real, 1-5 in our last 6 home games if we don’t come back in the 9th and 5-0 in our last 5 road games. Stupid and weird team
  22. Is Kimbrel one of those guys that inexplicably sucks when he’s not pitching in a save situation?
