  1. Jeez Brent
  2. That’s a really good way to express how I also feel
  3. Everyone else is building a pen with guys that have a lot of velocity, Theo and co build a pen with guys that pitch to contact despite a middling defense behind them
  4. I wonder if Theo is still hoping the team actually puts it together and looks like a contender or if he’s accepted that he’s built a flawed unlikable team in 2019.
  5. They are just a flawed team. You’d think your 3 best hitters in that situation would produce more but Castellanos took a close pitch for a K, Bryant has sucked for awhile and I am not sure why Bote was up but he is a K machine facing the other kind of K machine Once I accepted that they are talented but very flawed, watching this stuff has been a lot less annoying. Some days the talent will win out and other days the flaws. The end result is a team playing slightly above .500 ball over the last 110 games or so
  6. I wish we had a guy that could come in that situation and just shut it down. Just much less homophobic. I know he still walked a guy in but that was pretty damn lights out other than that.
  7. No game thread up yet but do yourself a favor and don’t look at tonight’s lineup
  8. And just think - 2 days ago the Cubs had him starting until just before the game
  9. A part of the fanbase gave up on him a long time ago and another will never give up on him. I’m in the middle but lean more towards not giving up on him. Has Michigan met expectations under Harbaugh? no. Has Michigan beat Ohio State under Harbaugh? No. Has Michigan played in the Big Ten championship game under Harbaugh? No. 3 big no’s but he’s mostly checked off the rest of the boxes. He’s won virtually every game he’s supposed to win (at Iowa in 2016 and the bowl game vs South Carolina are the only 2 you could question) and of his 13 losses, 11 have been to teams that finished the season ranked in the top 16, 9 have been to teams that finished in the top 8 and 3 have been to playoff teams. Yes he should occasionally win some games that Michigan is not favored in but it’s hardly a reason to fire him (yet). 3 of his 4 seasons have ended up double digit wins, 2 of the 4 have ended up with BCS bowls (or whatever they call it). 2 of the 4 seasons they were in a projected playoff spot until the last regular season game. So yes he needs to make the leap soon and have a season where he goes to a big ten title game or ideally make the playoffs but at the same time I think he’s done more than enough to justify his job. I think Michigan fans have to stop thinking their program is at the level of Alabama right now. Can they get to that point quickly? Yes but I don’t think the program is at a spot where you fire a coach with Harbaughs resume so far.
  10. Starting to look like how Brady Hoke’s final years started
  11. anyways why does it seem like we are finally developing top end talent but the actual team is getting worse?
  12. And no one likes Sacramento, so.....lose lose lose Cool. I'm glad you felt the need to jump into a thread about a sport you don't care about to defend St. Louis and Cincinnati. Ahh yes the quinnisential Derwood experience
  13. I mean he was a 3.3 win player at age 22. Most of that was defensive value but everyone figured the bat would develop. He made the majors at 21 so there was room to expect improvement. Obviously that didn’t happen and we found out he’s a piece of horsefeathers in the process
  14. Offense in last 4 games against the Brewers: 0 runs, 6 hits 0 runs, 4 hits 10 runs, 16 hits 1 run, 3 hits
  15. It’s just one loss after a 7-3 run but tonight shows why this team can’t go on a sustained run. Too many holes. Some nights they don’t get ya and the top end talent prevails. Other times the starter implodes, the offense sucks and dumb mistakes are made in the field.
  16. Hamels imploding right when Darvish puts it together is so 2019 Cubs Cue the Seinfeld episode where everything Jerry does it evened out. “Win 3 in a row, then lose 3 in a row. Start winning on the road, start losing at home. Get one of our top 4 hitters back, lose another. Darvish puts it together, Hamels falls apart.”
  17. A relatively small sample of 106 PAs but did anyone notice Kyle Schwarber has an .821 OPS against LHP this year? Joe has him in platoon jail for 2 years, might not be smart to do that anymore
  18. Javy now getting an MRI and will be out tomorrow too at the very least. The Cubs training staff is quickly becoming early-2010s Bulls level. Gonna guess Javy is going to get a spinal tap after his MRI
  19. I just rewatched Schwarber's grand slam and I loooove how when he crushes a mammoth HR, there is literally no change in his facial expression. "Ho hum, I just hit a ball 440 feet for a grand slam, no big deal"
  20. I have hope that Trubisky not taking preseason reps will account for all of his inefficiencies last night and he drastically improves. In fact, I'm hanging my hat on it. But man he better start improving over the next 2 games. It was stupid of Nagy That decision of not playing him in the preseason was the right move, I'm sure he had more than enough reps against the best defense in the league. However, his game plan last night restricted Trubisky and combined that with Trubisky's inconsistent play and you get that awful performance. Nagy put him in a position to fail and Trubisky followed-through. Trubisky needs to get better and Nagy didn't help. Yeah I still see entire chunks of the game where its pretty clear that Nagy has taken away half the field for Mitch. That's like seriously alarming in year 2 of an offense and a 3rd year QB. And then you see moments where its like a light switch is turned on and all the sudden Mitch is gunning it all around the field. Saw it big time in the playoff game and again last night. What are we doing differently that causes the offense to dramatically improve and how can we get that offense all game?
  21. We are trapped in a neverending cycle of anointing the Bears franchise QB. Defend his mistakes early on, keep defending them for way too long, make excuses for lack of improvement, latch on to flashes of good play to use as evidence that he's turning the corner, don't notice that said QB is slowly becoming a mockery to the rest of the football world, finally cave and admit they are not going to be a star QB (sometimes) Rex, even Orton a little in 2005, and big time Jay. I mean I was still holding out hope that Jay was turning the corner during the Adam Gase year which was his 7th as a Bear at age 32. Truth is, none of us knows what its like to watch your favorite team draft a QB and develop them into a star. Hopefully one day we get that experience. Also, as much as I'm down on Mitch, 10% of me still thinks he can turn the corner even though he has not really improved in 2 years and struggles in areas where you don't really see marked improvements over a career.
