It would have to be another annual 6-7 WAR player at a similar stage of their arb years. You aren't trading him for a top 20 prospect that *might* be as good as KB one day. And if its for a comparable player, why make that deal unless Kris has made it clear that he's not going to resign? Maybe because that player is a better fit for the team positionally than KB? I guess that is the only way a trade of Bryant makes sense. Lindor fits all of that, came up in the same season, has actually accumulated more WAR in his career, plays a different position and might have a compelling reason to resign (his friendship with Javy I guess). Side note, can anyone tell me the reason for the sizable difference in KB's fWAR and bWAR? Fangraphs has him at 4.2 which puts him on pace to have (for him) a decent season though still a slight drop from his first 3 seasons, but BR has him at 3.1 which puts him in range to be about 60% of his annual WAR in those first 3 seasons.
