  1. I liked it back then because I still trusted that the FO knew what they were doing when making FA signings, so the red flags didn’t bother me as much.
  2. No Tomorrow but lots of Sorrow for Morrow
  3. So nice to have a guy we acquire not only not horsefeathers the bed but actually perform better than he was before
  4. Stuff like this baffles me. Like, how can the manager and coaches AND the FO not act on this very obvious and very easily obtained info. They absolutely must know about it, so....why? It's so interminably meatball-y. The story on this one was Joe approached Heyward about hitting leadoff. Heyward in the past has struggled at leadoff and he believes it’s due to not taking consistent ABs to get into a groove. So he told Joe he would move to leadoff but to be patient - if he struggled out out of the gates he didn’t want to worry about getting a quick trigger or something
  5. They’ve invested guaranteed money in him so they are going to do everything they can to make sure he has some value to them long term. I guess you can say that about any prospect that can help them win but they obviously see something in him to want to lock him up through his arb years.
  6. Yeah, he’s allowed at least 1 ER in his last 5 appearances and 6 of his last 7
  7. It’s still nice to pull out a game like that when one function of the team doesn’t perform great. Baseball is still gonna baseball from time to time of facing horsefeathers pitching and having horsefeathers results. I hear you but the Cubs struggling offensively on the road is not exactly a blip I don’t think
  8. As great as it was to win today, 4 runs in 2 games against the garbage Pirates who started 2 guys with ERAs in the mid-4’s. I really cannot come up with a reasonable explanation why the Cubs go on the road and immediately lose the ability to hit
  9. Yeah we are winning the division still Hard to find confidence we can beat the braves or dodgers even understanding the baseball crapshoot thing I definitely think we can win against the Braves presuming guys like Kimbrel and Cishek are healthy (won’t mention the other guy). Our starters are good enough to hold serve and maybe the offense will feed on the intensity of a playoffs and wake up (yeah I know, not exactly something that has happened the past few years). With the dodgers it would definitely be a “baseball is a crapshoot” thing for us to win
  10. Because I’m a masochist, imagine a world where we managed to close out those 2 games and are 5-4 on the trip, finally winning a road series and 67-56 with a 1.5 game lead over the Cardinals. I’m a jerk I know
  11. Wow 3 straight innings getting out of 1st and 2nd, 0 out situations without allowing a run
  12. True but KB did make errors in consecutive innings. That said he is 100% of our offense today
  13. Remember when the Cubs scored 12 runs in the opening game of this trip and we wondered if maybe the Cubs had turned the corner on the road? Since then: 2 1 6 2 1 5 2 0 through 6 Edit: yes pattern followers, they will definitely score 1 today and 4 tomorrow
  14. I honestly think this team has given up. Thursday in Philly killed the team.
  15. Have a feeling it’s about to go on an upswing relatively soon
  16. If the Cubs lose today, they will project to a 59-103 team on the road and a 111-51 team at home
  17. Pretty crazy to go from a 3.5 game lead to a 1 game deficit over an 8 game span
  18. His poor pen decision yesterday bled into today. Maddon has been very bad at handling the pen. Maddon would tell you that you don’t know what you’re talking about
  19. Also wtf Bote again tonight unable to field a ball. It would have been a fairly tough play but still
  20. 7-2 homestand, 3-6 road trip, 5-1 homestand, 2-6 road trip (so far)
  21. Hey cubs relievers, just an FYI when you have 2 strikes on a hitter, you have the horsefeathering advantage
