  1. I had a feeling they would put up a fight and come back. Damn
  2. Gaaah, lets not see a big inning please.
  3. Thats the best you can do on a 3-1 count Jacque?
  4. C'mon Z, short rest after today you gotta conserve your pitches.
  5. Here is another heartwarming tale of a washed up coke head who redeems himself with a first pitch groundout.
  6. Its perfectly representative of the St. Louis population.
  7. 1-0 Cubs! Oh wait, Soriano tried his first SB attempt since his injury on one of the best throwing catchers in the game.
  8. Well that wasn't a smart idea. Way to negate a rare leadoff Soriano walk
  9. Yeesh, matchup doesn't look too good.
  10. Interesting....here is Wainwright's numbers against the Cubs this season: 4/22 - 5.1 IP 7 ER 4/28 - 4.1 IP 6 ER 7/25 - 5.0 IP 6 ER Total - 0-2 11.66 ERA We've rocked him around. Here are the starts where he has give up the most ER: 8 - LAD 7 - CHC 6 - CHC 6 - CHC 5 - CIN 4 - KC 4 - PIT 3 - WAS Every one of his other 20 starts he has allowed 2 ER or fewer. So 3 of his 4 worst performances, and 3 of his 7 bad starts this year have come against the Cubs. Wainwrights current numbers: 13-10 3.75 ERA Wainwrights numbers if you took out his starts against the Cubs: 13-8 3.03 ERA I am beginning to take a different look at this matchup.
  11. Is Chester Taylor still hurt? If so Adrian Peterson for sure
  12. Strangely enough according to BR.com, Zambrano is 21-21 with a 4.78 ERA with 5 days of rest (58 starts). Also, Z has never started a game on 3 days rest
  13. Exactly, the fact that he is going to have 3 days rest leads me to believe Lou won't make him throw much more than 100 pitches.
  14. Wainwright is a tough matchup for the Cubs. He has pretty much dominated at will in the second half of the season. However, if Z is on, he is still better. Lets start off this series on a high note! Wainwright's ERAs by month: April: 6.14 May: 5.00 June: 3.69 July: 3.09 August: 2.00 September: 2.39 Zambrano's ERAs by month: April: 5.77 May: 4.72 June: 2.53 July: 1.38 August: 7.06 September: 7.84
  15. Miami would be a good market if their stadium was close to anything and had a roof. No one wants to drive 40 minutes to the middle of nowhere to sit in the 95 degree sun. Sure Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers and Giants fans might do it, but not many teams would.
  16. Back in the early 80's Wrigley was pretty empty. I remember buying the cheapest seats and moving to box seats. Everything changed after 1984. The CUBS had a lot of crowds in the hundreds back in the early/mid sixties. Gave the fans a chance to get to know the players !! The Cards are dead. Long live the Cards !!! I'm confused...
  17. Of course they do, Miguel Cabrera is still there.
  18. I think I might be in Cinci that weekend and if so, I will be there.
  19. Weird that you mentioned we don't usually recover from those types of things, but you also mentioned Brant Brown, which we did recover from. Ah yes, but by losing that game, the Cubs had to use Steve Trachsel (this thread is coming full circle) in the one game playoff prompting Mark Clark, he of a 4.84 ERA that season to start Game 1 of the playoffs.
  20. Wow, last night when I saw the grounder go off first base and into RF, I thought this is the 2007 Brant Brown or Steve Bartman. We usually don't recover from that. Maybe its just one game, or maybe its the start of something special. Something magical. The moment that everyone will remember as the turning point to a World Seri- oh wait Trachsel is on the mound. Cubs lose 8-3
  21. you were saying? Oh wait, baseball allows 3 outs per inning? Crap :)
