  1. Heh, baseball is fun when both teams are in the race. You know what would be even more fun. One of your talented players gets hurt. Make it a real race. Like Pujols maybe. Or Carpenter or something... Please they really wanna play the pitchers being hurt card with us??? Yeah, Prior has been out all year for us. No sympathy ;)
  2. Heh, baseball is fun when both teams are in the race. This is more like a trip, than a race. The Cubs arent even on their feet to start the race. Gotta crawl before you can walk. The Cubs arent even at the crawling stage yet, they are on their backs with their feet in the air doing nothing but cooing Your right... One team is still under .500 The other has gone on a complete freefall and only managed to lose only 1 game in the standings during it. This IS FUN?!?
  3. I feel extremely dirty with the thought that despite going 5-10 this month we lose no ground in race and find ourselves only 0.5 out
  4. That wouldn't have happened with Kendall behind the plate
  5. Cubs lose this one 7-2 as the offense can't get going against the tough lefty. Marquis gets out of a few jams early unscathed, but the Reds bust it open with a 5 run 4th inning. http://www.chicagocubsblog.net/images/broom.jpg
  6. Funny thing is, the Cardinals "hot streak" is 7-7 in their last 14 games, and are just 10 days removed from a 5 game losing streak to the Pirates and Nationals. They have simply crept up on us due to the Cubs and Brewers being absolutely pathetic the last month or so.
  7. My 78 win prediction before the season is looking better at least..
  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2976112 I guess he will get a suspension after all. Lets see his appeal process go until mid-November.
  9. Tough to predict this one. Was Gallardo's last start an affect of Coors? Was Piniero's a result of Duncan? Does it even matter because the Cubs will just lose anyways?
  10. fixed/consolidated 1. Always score more runs then you allow fixed/consolidated even more improved 1. Win every game simplified
  11. fixed/consolidated 1. Consistently score more runs then you allow fixed/consolidated even more
  12. I'm really not even excited about the prospects of winning the NL Central anymore. The only team that should be remotely excited is the Cardinals because they have one of the worst 'playoff contending' teams that I've ever seen.
  13. Didn't Mike Cameron get pitched to and just miss it? I think it was just short of the warning track, but it was hit well.
  14. No I'm just saying. I don't think the catcher is the reason why Z was terrible today.
  15. Hill caught him in the last game and he sucked
  16. Because Cubs fans only help out opposing teams
  17. It was the end when Hendry did nothing at the deadline. Don't think he had the resources to Dang out Pie and see what you get. I know I'm going to get killed for this, but this is his last year probably here. Go for the throat while you have a decent time. Do what the Braves did. I think he meant the $$$ to pay the incoming players. I don't buy that for a minute. Why? They would have added payroll. He had to get expiring contracts. Go get Dunn. He opts out after the year and the club isn't stuck paying for him. Makes too much sense. Who says Dunn was available to the Cubs at a reasonable price? Do you just wnat to throw whatever they ask at the Reds just to get the deal done? Do you think the Cubs are one Adam Dunn away from winning the World Series? If so, would the investment be a huge waste of our future if Dunn somehow doesn't lead the team to a world series win and walks after the season? Would you rather go down swinging or not? We are tied up in bad contracts for the next 2-3 years and we hypothetically have a lock on the checkbook for at least the next season with the impending sale. The only hope we have to improve after this season are our minor leaguers and trading those minor leaguers. Yes we could trade for Dunn (IF HES AVAILABLE TO THE CUBS), but who is going to be the scapegoat when Dunn leaves after the season and you have to start Angel Pagan in the OF next year because you traded Felix Pie, Jake Fox, Sean Marshall, Carlos Marmol, and whatever other crazy stuff the Reds will ask for to trade Dunn to a Central team. Then what will you be saying? Oh well at least the Cubs traded for Dunn and we won 87 games and got swept by the Mets in the NLDS. I doubt it And we'll just keep enjoying not going to the playoffs. Exactly, its a Catch-22. But a GM's job isn't to play for a season. It's to direct a teams transactions to set up for now and the future.

  22. 1-0 Brewers on another Prince HR. I think he has more HRs than the Cubs with that one.
  23. This will balance out the set of optimistic posts today.
