  1. Definitely love the tie, but I feel a bit bad for Costa Rica. I saw it was in the 5th minute of stoppage time, how many minutes of stoppage time were there? Couldn't be much more than 5. Poor Costa Ricans, at least they still have a shot.
  2. Would it be a shocker if the Vikings came out of nowhere and got TO? People are saying they expect TO to be had for as little as a 5th round pick, and if that's the case, the Vikings, due to having a 40 year old starting QB are likely to be making a run this year and wouldn't be concerned with giving up a 5th for a potentially dynamic WR (and while TO is definitely not close to the TO of 3-4 years ago, playing in the dome with a QB that has a gun, with his size he still causes matchup problems). It would also be ensuring the Bears don't get TO. I am not really for getting TO, but if only cost a 5th, and it would keep him away from Minnesota, I'd consider it.
  3. He did at the end of 07 when we were really think at DT and were already eliminated from the playoffs. I think he also made it in a game last year.
  4. For anyone that want's one that will really test your knowledge....here is a Rangers one (I got 102/190 and missed some big names)... http://www.sporcle.com/games/William/rangers_lineups_91_09 And a bunch more.... Indians (94-09) http://www.sporcle.com/games/ckrubin/indians_lineups (115/160) Blue Jays (90-09) http://www.sporcle.com/games/Gobias/jayslineups Tigers (91-09) http://www.sporcle.com/games/Gord93/tigers_lineups Mariners (90-09) http://www.sporcle.com/games/swellwrench/marinerslineups (140/200) Marlins (93-09) http://www.sporcle.com/games/bizort/marlinlineups (120/153..shocked I thought I was gonna do horrible) Yankees (90-09) http://www.sporcle.com/games/smyth/yankees_lineups_19902009 (156/200)
  5. I listened to Hub Arkush rip on the Bears on the radio today as he does every week. He called the Falcons his "lock of the week" and basically ripped on the Bears defense the whole time talking about how their offense vs. our defense is a huge huge mismatch. He called Tommie Harris a mediocre defensive tackle at this point (he's probably right), and said Matt Toeina is probably the best DT on the roster. One thing of interest that he said was that the Bears are surprisingly active in trade talks with other teams, though he declined to mention any team names or positions that they are looking for.
  6. I have mixed feelings about it, but somehow I have the feeling that this is gonna happen. I know the rumor is a media creation, but Angelo did have an interest in Burress. And although our receivers have been good, Cutler doesn't have that big target right now. I'm not counting on it by any means, but I just have a gut feeling. I don't think it will happen. It doesn't seem like a Bears move. They usually like to keep things controversy free at Halas Hall. That's not to say they've had troublemakers on the team before and kept them around, but I can't imagine them going out and getting a known malcontent.
  7. http://www.sporcle.com/games/htimsetan/cubs_opening_day_lineups I got 162/180. I forgot a lot of the obscure names of the early 90s, but got everything from 98 on.
  8. Uh, no offense, but that's been proven already whether or not they beat the Yankees. I know, but now that they've done it, I am rooting for them to go to the World Series.
  9. I'm rooting for the Angels as proof that just because you get destroyed in the first round every year it doesn't mean that you'll never get past the first round.
  10. *Cubswin11 is immediately fired as GM of the Cubs*
  11. Haha...I have seen two different power rankings so far this week where the idle Bears jump over the idle Packers. I wonder what happened during the bye week to make the Bears better then Packers in their minds.
  12. Which boards? Umm... I went to FalcFans and the Falcons team website forum
  13. I can't remember if it was this game or the game the next day vs. the Reds (I was at both). But I remember the score being 0-0 or 1-0 and Sammy was up with the bases loaded and 2 outs, and he hit a towering fly ball and everyone in the park thought he hit a grand slam, but Kearns jumped up and caught the ball while banging into the ivy. It was like maybe 5 feet from being a granny. Blah.
  14. There's a thread I created in Rants for situations just like this.
  15. I was just surfing around some Falcons message boards reading their thoughts on the game. They seem very confident of victory (as they should coming off such a blowout road win over a halfway decent team), but they also seem to have enough respect for our team. The majority seems to think they are decent but not great. The weird thing I read is that they seem to fear Forte. They keep talking about if they can shut down Forte they have a shot. Should be an interesting game. Atlanta is 9-1 at home since the start of last season, so it's definitely not gonna be a walk in the park.
  16. We need better goalie play if we're gonna be more special than last year. Khabi was pretty good when he needed to be last year, I don't see it from Huet yet. And the thing that sucks is we can't go out and get a goalie unless his contract is very short.
  17. Bah...big market LCS' What a boring Division Series round....3 sweeps and 1 four game series.
  18. Unfortunately Stevie Ire is in the game because Charlie Manuel can play matchups.
  19. Yay for potent offense.
  20. The "Other Sports" forum will continue here for people that do not wish to post at two sites. Interesting. I ask because it seems the choice to allow Bears and Bulls talk to continue at NSBB is what prevented WindyCityFootball and SecondCityHoops from getting off the ground. The sentiment seemed to be "I prefer to just stay at NSBB". So what will be the incentive to draw NSBB'ers to a second site? I think that Tim hopes to draw members from other sources besides NSBB.
  21. I watched the first 4 minutes and then went to play some Madden and then came back to see them losing 5-0 in the first period?!?!!?! Is Huet drunk or something? I hope this is just a strange aberration in a long season or not the end of a season long struggle from Huet. How many more before they pull Huet? I can't believe we haven't already.
  22. Benson was a very good compliment for Thomas Jones in 05 and 06, but when he was handed the job in 07, the team wasn't behind him and then had a mediocre season followed by his third semi major injury and then multiple run ins with the law. Benson was never gonna work out in Chicago and it was partly the Bears fault, but mostly his own fault. I certainly do not wish well upon him except for the purposes of my fantasy team, but it doesn't bother me that he's doing well. As for Orton, there was a small but vocal faction of Bears fans that while happy that the Cutler trade was made, thought we could have gone along with Orton. I said there was no bend to my above post but there was a slight tilt. Orton's start to 2008 may have not been the best of the 5 numbers I posted, but it wasn't all that far off. If you can have a 62+ completion percentage, average 7-7.5 YPA and limit your INTs you are gonna be able to hold your own in the league. The other jokes that the Bears have used at QB over the last few decades were missing some or all of this. Orton was unfairly grouped into that mix because he didn't have superstar talent. But he was actually quite effective until he suffered his high ankle sprain that affected him the rest of the season. I am a big fan of Cutler and I'm super psyched at what he can do for this team (especially this team in particular which needs a QB that can lead them to wins, not just one that can steady the course), but I wouldn't have been upset if we went to war with KO. He really showed me a lot from his rookie year, when he was very ineffective and couldn't lead the team on sustained drives. But he sat out 06 and most of 07 came back a more polished QB in 2008. I wish nothing but the best for KO, but at the same time it pisses me off that the media is picking up on his story and just now starting to believe in his ability, because it all comes at the expense of the Chicago Bears organization, when it shouldn't. WE developed him and then WE upgraded. We did nothing wrong. Kyle was born to lead teams with a great defense and good weapons on offense. He can't screw that team up.
  23. Just for fun, rank these 5 QB numbers thru 5 games. I'm sure you can guess some of them, but just humor me. The data isn't intended to make any points or anything about the QBs, just interesting to look at without the bias of a name attached to it. Oh and these aren't 5 different QBs from this year, its a couple of QBs and their numbers through 5 games of a particular season and it's Bears-centric. Player A: 96-155 62% completion percentage 1,100 yards 7.1 YPA 7 TD 4 INT Player B: 104-165 63% completion percentage 1,236 yards 7.5 YPA 7 TD 1 INT Player C: 125-191 65.4% completion percentage 1,502 yards 7.9 YPA 10 TD 4 INT Player D: 104-161 64.5% completion percentage 1,126 yards 7.0 YPA 8 TD 4 INT Player E: 110-155 71% completion percentage 1,040 yards 6.7 YPA 12 TD 2 INT Rate them first but if you want to know who they belong to....
  24. You think the MLB is hoping for Philly to win this one? So far LA/NY, LA/PHI or COL
  25. What losing streak? 5 games? The Brewers won Game 3 of their series last year on the same day the Cubs lost game 3 (but earlier in the day). So the streak is Game 3 Dodgers v. Cubs, Game 4 Brewers v. Phillies, and Games 1-3 Dodgers v. Cardinals.
