  1. The last time a Cubs player did not appear in the All Star game was 1998 when Sammy Sosa, the only Cubs selection, was replaced due to injury. The last time a Cubs player did not appear in the All Star game and was available to play in it was 1982 when Leon Durham, the Cubs only selection, did not appear in the game.
  2. Yup, expect Lilly to take the hill for the Cubs Thursday. I would assume that we'd see Lilly, Zambrano, Wells, Harden in the Nationals series in that order. I just can't believe the AL keeps winning. And the weird thing is, pretty much all of the recent games have been close.
  3. I bet Derrek Lee would have had a better AB than Howard there. Oh well, with Rivera coming up it looks like the AL wins again. Game 1 of the World Series won't be at Wrigley. Probably wasn't going to anyways but still.
  4. That seems like a dumb move. Yeah I wonder why that is? He's well rested. Oh wait, I bet Lou wants Lilly to start the first game of the second half, since Z and Wells can't, leaving Harden and Hart as the only other choices.
  5. I'm pretty impressed that Obama was able to keep up as much as he did. He seemed fairly informed, which is surprising considering he's the president and should never have enough time to watch a 3 hour baseball game.
  6. Why the hell does the AL win every damn year. This is annoying.
  7. Isn't St. Louis a republican city generally speaking? Bush got boo'd quite a bit in his days in democratic cities.
  8. A White Sox fan throwing out the first pitch at an All Star game hosted by the Cardinals, blech.
  9. I know usually managers report who the first few pitchers of the game will be ahead of time. Have they said that at all? I want to know the chances of Lilly actually getting into the game. Having 1 All Star, and having that All Star be an unhearaled pitcher sucks. I want The Bulldog in the game.
  10. then it would have been like the old days where they had to pay you to go to a game.
  11. It HAS to have something to do with the fiasco regarding the restricted FAs. I also think the Hawks aren't sure how Tallon's recent moves will allow them to resign Toews and Kane. There are a lot of Blackhawks fans that are happy about this, and a lot of casual fans that are upset I think as I've been reading ongoing rips on Tallon for a few years now, and they continued through the success of this season. Edit: Oh also, Stan Bowman replaced him. They probably wanted him to replace him for awhile and were waiting for Tallon to slip up somehow. Wow when was the last time a GM was replaced after a breakthrough season like the Hawks just had?
  12. Last year's game was amazing. Because the Cubs had the best record in baseball we were obviously super interested in it. We saw multiple lead changes, good pitching, timely hitting, multiple Cubs pitchers shutting down the AL hitters in extra innings, a game saving throw from Nate McClouth to nail the game winning runner at home, Aaron Cook getting himself out of a bases loaded 0 outs jam with the winning run at 3rd, Dan Uggla having one of the worst possible games you could have (0-3, GIDP with runner on 3rd, 1 out in a tie game, K with a runner on 3rd, 1 out in a tie game, 3 errors). Very enjoyable.
  13. I don't think it willbe Hart Sunday. I think it will be something like Harden Zambrano Lilly Wells Hart
  14. I think severl teams are after Ryan because of his low risk high reward. I'm willing to bet that if he doesn't want to go to the minors he will be able to find a team willing to offer him a major leave contract. I'm all for offering Ryan a minor league contract but I'm not sure about a contract with the promise that he starts out on the big league club. Any time a club is willing to eat $10 million or what ever it was to get rid of a player with his ceiling, there has gotta be something very wrong with said player. No team wants to give up on a player they are paying that much money to prematurely IMO.
  15. Zambrano and Wells pitched Sunday so starting them again on Thursday would be starting them on short rest. But if you really think about it, they might have to do that. If Lilly goes in the ASG, he might not be ready to go Thursday so that leaves you with Harden and the 5th starter as the only starters able to go on full rest Thursday.
  16. Zach Duke are you serious? There's more than a couple NL starters I'd pick over Duke. Guess Manuel doesn't want to win.
  17. Also...kinda funny. This will be Wells 12th start of the season, and he only faced one opponent twice...the Braves. His 13th start will likely also be against a new opponent, the Nationals.
  18. I'm gonna predict this lineup Fukudome, CF (L) Theriot, SS ® Lee, 1B ® Ramirez, 3B ® Bradley, RF ("S") Johnson, LF ® Fontenot/Blanco, 2B (L/S) Hill, C (S) Wells, P ® Remember it's just a guess not what I want. I could also see Johnson in for Bradley instead of Soriano if the Cubs don't mind having all righties in the middle of the order.
  19. I believe he was on an extra day or two of rest on Friday due to the offday.
  20. THE ONE TIME THAT "GO CUBS GO" MAKES SENSE! The Cubs ARE gonna win today....a little later on.
  21. Just curious....why so interested in young men growing facial hair? That's about the 50th comment on it. It's not just facial hair, its douchebag facial hair, and come to think of it...your right there shouldn't be such an interest in it. If the Cardinals want to look like the majority of their fans, then that's great for them.
  22. If we finish this one off and win tonight, and today's current scores hold, the top 5 teams in the NL Central could be separated by 4 games into the ASB.
  23. Come on Ryan he threw 6 straight balls before that...
  24. Is it just me or did that st8ctr or whatever his name was disappear randomly after the first inning yesterday? Edit: oh wait there you are
