That's easy, HR. My desire for the Cubs to win trumps my desire for Miles to keep being totally useless. I hear you but Miles has tested that for me so much. Like on that grounder he just fielded, I couldn't stop myself from hoping he airmailed the throw into the stands. -

That's 5 of our 8 regular position starters with sub .600 OPS's over a week or more period. Lee, Fukudome and Baker are all still pulling their weights. Strangely enough they are typically positioned just far enough away from each other to make their individual contributions useless. I've never rooted so hard for a Cub to get out as Aaron Miles. I'm really disappointed he just walked.

That got me thinking. Who has come to play this year? I can only come up with a few. Theriot, Lilly, Lee, Guzman, Fuld, Fukudome, and Wells. Guys who have mailed it in? BRADLEY! SORIANO!, SOTO!, are the three worst offenders. You can include Dempster, Gregg, Heilman, Miles, Hoffpauir, Samardzija, and Fontenot. Marginal guys... Marmol, Marshall, Harden, Ramirez, Zambrano, Hill So if they did well this year, they came to play...if they did bad they mailed it in, and if they were mediocre or had a lot of injuries, they are considered marginal?

It reminds me of Major League II when everyone in the dugout is busy bickering and fighting and the catcher (Baker?) bunts for a hit, steals 2nd and hustles home for the tying run on a single (I think that's right) despite dealing with an injured ankle. The whole team is looking blah and he's flying all over the field making plays.

How to solve the Soriano dilemma?

Do you honestly think someone would claim him? You never know. The Jays probably didnt think that Rios would be claimed. The best bet would be a contending team atempting to block the team aboove them. I could see the Red Sox claiming him to block the Yankees or the Giants to block the Dodgers. Whatever happens, Sorianos on his way to being the most hated man in Chicago since Gacy. WSR listen to me. There is absolutely zero chance that any gm in baseball that would ever even consider claiming Soriano. Why would a contending team try to block Soriano from going to another contending team?you see how bad Sorianos hurting us, why wouldn't another team care if their rivals had his miserable bat in the lineup for the next 5 seasons at 18m per. Plus any team that sees Soriano on waivers knows what a miserable contract he has and claiming him is a really really bad risk. Not going to happen, plus I'd be pretty certain he's already been through and cleared waivers. -

I still love the Zito for Soriano trade suggestion. I feel like Zito could hurt us less by pitching as a 5th starter or long reliever than Soriano could playing 150 games in Left Field. We're gonna have to pay all or most of the contract anyways if we do trade him elsewhere so whatever, just clear the LF position for an upgrade.
