  1. Trying to figure out signs that he couldn't say. Caught wind of a meeting between Cubs brass and Boras? And he can't say either because he's not sure it's about Fielder, or because a source asked him not to say any more than that? Cubs know they lost out on Darvish somehow? That was my guess. Crasnick found out but can't reveal it until the Ham Fighters accept or deny the bid. Then again, if any ESPN writer got any sort of info on Darvish it would be a race to see how quickly they can post it on Twitter.
  2. I'll see what I can do. And please don't use that crappy ass Linkin Park thanks for the memories song. k, thanks
  3. Those are great moments. At the expense of derailing this thread, here are a few more I personally hold dear. 1. The Sunday game against the Marlins at Wrigley where a Cub slump had put the Cubs into a tie with Milwaukee. The Cubs went down 5-0 and the Brewers were up 4-1 over Houston at the same time. NSBB was doom and gloom and figured we were going into a 4 game series in Milwaukee 1 game back. Suddenly, with the score 5-2 Sori hits a 3 run shot to tie and the Astros hang a 7 spot on Milwakuee and after a huge Fontenot bases clearly double in the 8th to break the tie, the Cubs ended the day 1 up, before going to Milwaukee and getting a 4 game sweep, effectively taking control of the division 2. Another Marlins game, this one in Florida. The Cubs had historically struggled at that park, so many were anxious to see how this team was different. The Cubs were down 5-3 in the 9th when Daryle Ward hit a 3 run bomb to give the Cubs the lead. Woody came on and was shaky but somehow retired the Marlins for the W. 3. Cubs Cardinals game where Jim Edmonds hit 2 solo HRs to provide the scoring in a 2-1 win. I still dislike Edmonds, but it was awesome to see him stare at LaRussa in the Cardinals dugout after his 2nd HR. 4. Obviously we lost and that sucked, but Fukudome's 3 run homer on opening day was amazing live. 5. The double comeback in Colorado. Cubs were down 5-4 in the 9th. Ramirez hits a 2 run homer to give the Cubs the lead, Woody blows the save, and then in the top of the next inning the Cubs scratch another run across on a Theriot single and finally closed the door in the bottom half. 6. Comeback win over the White Sox at Wrigley. Cubs trailing 3-1 in the 7th. Lee hits a solo HR to make it 3-2, and then Ramirez gives some lucky fan $7000 by going back to back in the 7th inning to tie it. Then Ramirez leads off the 9th and take the first pitch to the shrubs in CF for the win. 7. Game 1 of the aforementioned Brewers-Cubs series in Milwaukee. Sabathia was the big story in baseball and lights out since getting to Milwaukee. Soriano led the game off with a double and eventually scored, then in the 3rd he hit a solo HR to make it 2-0. The Brewers ended up taking a 3-2 lead until the Cubs scored 2 off a Weeks error. After a Branyan HR to tie it, in the 9th with 2 on, Lee pulled a double into RF to score the go ahead run and clinching the victory. So satisfying.
  4. I dont necessarily hate Barber but I will blame him for missing the playoffs if winning that game would have gotten us in.
  5. Why doesn't Demp just go to the NSBB game thread to figure out who is pitching?
  6. Good win even thought we should have won in regulation. This is the first time I've seen Minnesota this year and they look pretty decent. Horrible first for them but outplayed us for stretches of the next 2 periods. My guess is that they are legit.
  7. Oh my God Patrick Kane that was sick. Hawks win!
  8. Score or save the next one and its a win
  9. Up 1-0 through 1
  10. Ugh..crapshoot time with Emery in goal. He was pathetic the last time he was involved in one of these.
  11. And the Wild are gifted at least 1 point in the standings. They are now at 44 points in 32 games, with the Hawks at 41 points in 31 games, with 1 more point to be decided now.
  12. Rip officially signed with the Bulls tonight. 2 years $10 million with a team option for a 3rd year. http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/bulls-sign-free-agent-guard-richard-hamilton.html
  13. I really wanted 2 regulation points out of this game to make a statement that the Wild are not amongst the elite yet. Come on guys
  14. Wow the linesman apologized to the Hawks bench for botching that icing call. How bout you take the [expletive] goal away you jackass. And the Wild just tied it with 5 minutes left. [expletive] Score should be 3-2 but its 3-3
  15. Toews on pace for 45 goals and 42 assists for 87 points. I believe he still leads the NHL in faceoff percentage and is consistently called one of the best two way centers in hockey. I think he's going to be in the Hart discussion into the very end and has a legitimate chance at winning.
  16. That was some sick stickwork by Hossa.
  17. I'm not going to lie, I don't think any of these jokers know what these teams actually bid. I have a feeling that the Cubs won it. They have been very stealth in this process, their stated mission is to acquire top end talent, with big market resources at their disposal, and Theo has obviously won the bidding for a high profile pitcher before so its likely is willing to submit a big bid. But I guess I could see the Rangers with their new revenue streams and loss of Wilson just throwing up $80 mil randomly so that they virtually guarantee a win.
  18. Just a sick goal by Toews. I love him
  19. Guess we're trying to build a no power, all defensive team, or at least OF
  20. Yeah its not bad. I pop them in every once in awhile. Since the MLB are nazis about allowing places like youtube to stream old baseball games, its hard to watch games like this anywhere else.
  21. Did these teams switch jerseys during the intermission? Hawks spank the Wild in the 1st, Wild starting to take control in the 2nd. Still no scoring though
  22. Pretty sure that Billups can't be traded Yeah I figured that might be the case. Can he be waived if he complains about not starting? I'm guessing they will make him the starting SG and see what happens.
  23. Damn, Carcillo just got his ass kicked.
  24. I know the Clippers had to make this trade. If you have a chance to build your team around Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, you have to do it and work out the rest later. But I hate to see them have to give up Gordon and the Minnesota 1st rounder. I am a big Gordon fan and if they somehow managed to keep him in a trade they might be contenders this year. Instead, they could still be but probably need a little more. It's gonna be interesting to see how they fill out their roster. Looking at their roster on ESPN.com, it looks like they have 9 players currently under contract: PGs - Chris Paul, Mo Williams, Chauncey Billups, Eric Bledsoe (4) SGs - Randy Foye (1) SFs - Caron Butler, Ryan Gomes (1) PFs - Blake Griffin, Brian Cook (2) C - DeAndre Jordan (1) I gotta think they will be in on some front court FAs, and they will have to make some sort of decision on their PG flux. Billups will not be a backup, so you either make him the starting SG, which seems awkward to do, or you have to trade him if thats even possible. Then you have Mo Williams, another PG who wants to start or at least play 6th man minutes. Also, Bledsoe is supposedly a young up and coming player, so its stupid to make him ride the bench too. My guess is that they will try the Billups at SG experiment, and make a trade involving Williams, Bledsoe or both for front court depth. The starting 5 of Paul, Billups (if it works out), Butler, Griffin, Jordan is pretty solid though.
  25. Blackhawks have yet to allow a SOG with 5 minutes left in the 1st period.
