  1. Watching the Hawks PP immediately after the Coyotes PP is just [expletive] depressing. That was one of the worst PPs ever
  2. Hawks going on the PP, time to run an errand
  3. The 2nd worst PP unit in the league has spent maybe 4:30 of the 5 minutes in the Hawks zone.
  4. For everyone complaining that our PP sucks, just imagine that this Coyotes team was WORSE than us this year. And they are having no problem on these PPs. This season might have been much different if we even had average special teams units
  5. And there's the first goal of the PP. Still 3:30 left to kill. This just shifted the momentum of the series completely in Phoenix's favor. Phoenix 2nd to last on the PP this year, 2/2 tonight
  6. Shaw gets kicked out and a 5 minute major. This might be the most important 5 minutes of the series. Good thing the Coyotes have a terrible PP What a terrible thing to occur right after the equalizer
  7. Geez, lucky goal which is awesome but then Shaw commits a dumb penalty right after. Smith might be out of the game though, he's really shaken up. Looks for retaliation on a Hawks player....this is going to be an interesting rest of the game.
  8. If the Hawks lose this, this series will be the only one of the 8 where the home team won the first 2 games.
  9. I remember one year in the 1990s that I was very excited because every player or 7/8 in the Cubs' regular lineup had been an all-star at some point in their careers. 1998? Mark Grace - 1B (2 time All star at that point) Micky Morandini - 2B (1 time All star) Jeff Blauser - SS (2 time All star) Jose Hernandez - 3B (0 All star to that point but did make it in 2002) or in August we acquired Gary Gaetti who was a 2 time All star Henry Rodriguez - LF (1 time All star) Lance Johnson - CF (1 time All star) Sammy Sosa - RF (2 time All star) Scott Servais C (never came close to making the All Star team) For pitchers, Steve Trachsel made an All Star team in 1996, Kerry Wood didn't make the ASG in 98 but made ASG's afterwards, Terry Mullholland made it once in 1993, Mike Morgan made it in 1991, and of course Rod Beck made it 3 times with the Giants. Somewhat strange but Kevin Tapani never made it. Not that he was awesome but I figured he would have had one year worthy of it. That's 14/25 players who were either former or future all stars.
  10. when will people learn that Miami is just a terrible sports city full of retired Yankee fans? I thought Tampa was the Yankees fans and Miami was the Mets fans? Anyways, I can't get enough of this: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/04/13/2747642/despite-miami-heats-big-victory.html#storylink=omni_popular#storylink=cpy Paid attendance was just over 30,000, and reports suggest that only about 20-25,000 actually showed up.
  11. If anyone cares, my GF goes to the Montrose dog beach and sometimes runs into a guy who is really good friends with Eric Steinbach (he often takes his and Eric's dogs to the beach). Today she bumped into him and his wife, and I asked her to find out if there was mutual interest between him and the Bears, and he told her that Seattle and the Bears are the 2 teams that have showed the most interest and those are the 2 teams he has interest in. He's leaning towards Seattle because they are offering more money, and they don't think the Bears will offer more money because (in his words) the Bears are known as a notoriously cheap organization. He grew up a Bears fan and if all things were the same, he'd prefer to go here, but he's 31 years old and coming off a bad injury so although he thinks he's still at peak performance level, he would prefer to make as much money as he can at this point. My guess is he'll be signing with Seattle.
  12. Finally sitting down to watch a Cubs game this year....Ian Stewart does not look like a number 2 to me. He seems like an 8 or maybe 12 to me. Too much Theriot left in that number.
  13. I'm listening to Lebatards show from yesterday and they are legit worried about the Bulls. They can't believe the Bulls 2nd team beat the Heat who were treating the game as a playoff game (and the minutes reflect that). They said the scary thing is Rose will never go 1-13 in his life again. Also both the hosts agree that the Bulls have improved more since last year than the Heat. Also no one has brought up the "this happened last year and Heat destroyed the East in the playoffs. Part of that is probably because they are a radio show and need to be extreme in their opinions but it's interesting that people in Chicago are throwing that out there more than Miami guys.
  14. pretty glad the Hawks didnt end up getting matched up with the Kings. How many years of playoff choking until Vancouver changes up the core of their team? I'm not saying this series is over but if they lose, it's so deflating to get 110+ points annually and fall short and in many cases fall way short. The team is really good but there's just something there keeping them from getting it done when it counts. Yes they made it to game 7 of the SCF last year, but they were an accurate Patrick Sharp tap in from blowing a 3-0 lead and losing in the first round last year.
  15. LMAO...in today's column, he now says "am I wrong to think the Creaky But Lovable Celtics could sneak into the Finals?" Does he even realize how much of a homer he sounds like?
  16. I could not stop laughing after I clicked on playoff mode and Shea Weber's photo came up
  17. This series has been freaking amazing so far. Wow Flyers just scored the dagger....Everyone's Cup favorites are down 0-2 after dropping 2 at home.
  18. Oh supposedly a Florida Panthers playoff hockey game is the excuse people are going with.
  19. Plenty of good seats available for the Marlins 2nd game at their new park......uh oh
  20. Remember when Marlon Byrd was an "all star"?
  21. aww the Celtics fan wants to be relevant Edit: My answer is yes. Although, Bulls have pretty much handled the Celtics with little struggle the last 6 times they've played. 5-1 in that span. If you want to go back to the beginning of last year its 5-3 as the Bulls lost 2 very close games to Boston when they were struggling to introduce 7 new rotation players and started the season 9-8 and finished 53-12. Boston has had its own good excuses as well, but the Bulls have gone 3-1 against them this year and 3 of the games were without Rose and one of those was a win without him during this Boston hot streak. The playoffs are different of course, and we can't use the 2009 series as a comparison as the Bulls have drastically changed since then (Rose and Noah are the only 2 current Bulls to play in that series - Deng was injured), and the Celtics have Garnett - albeit not in his 2009 form (but has been resurgent lately). But overall, I don't worry about losing that series, although I'd expect it to be a long and difficult one. The Pacers I would worry about a little bit more, obviously they play us tough. I'm getting a little wordy here, but my main point is that I think most Bulls fans understand that the ECF is not even close to a given and that the East is harder and the Bulls opponents in the 1st 2 rounds will undoubtably be tougher than last year's Indiana and Atlanta. But the Bulls should be favored to win every series against any team in the East accept Miami, and the Bulls proved that they can win in the playoffs (although were shaky at times), so its natural for fans to let their throughts drift towards the ECF at times.
  22. Hang another banner at the UC. On a related note: NBA division titles might be the stupidest thing you can raise a banner for. What makes it different than the NHL? You play a higher proportion of games in your own division. 6 in division vs. 4 in rest of conference vs. 1-2 in other conference. Nba Is 4 in division, 3-4 in rest of conference and 2 in other conference.
  23. literally like 10 seconds later horrible loss Meh, Hawks showed fight at least in coming back. I wouldnt say the way the game was played was horrible, but the outcome certainly was. Win game 2 and we take the momentum in the series.
  24. BTW, this is the 7th time in the last 9 games that the Hawks have taken a game to OT. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. 3-4 in those games now.
