  1. Woo hoo! Good job NU. I still think they need at least 2 wins next week to get in and 3 to feel somewhat secure. If they win one, they will probably be bounced by some mid major loser that jumps into the at large field.
  2. I've argued for 2 years on RealGM that the Bobcats pick is more valuable to us as a trade piece than it will end up being as a pick whenever it comes. Its just such a small chance that the pick lasts that long let alone they are #1 pick bad during the unprotected year. And of course they could lose the lottery too and pick like 6th instead.
  3. Or when the boil to death in minutes because of the sun because that's how fish tanks work. LOL
  4. This. Plus looking at how many games Rip has missed over the last 3 seasons (36, 27 and 23 this year), how can you ever expect to count on Rip to be healthy when you need him most? If I were the Bulls id at least consider any potential SG acquisitions that would be an upgrade over Rip even if he was healthy.
  5. Why would Boston do that?
  6. Bobcats pick. I would do it. It's tough to give that pick up for a short term upgrade but Ray Allen is a player that can make a legit difference against the Heat.
  7. If @thekapman can't find it, it doesn't exist.
  8. Somehow Lunardi still has Northwestern hanging by a thread as his last team in the tournament. They'd better win at Iowa this weekend.
  9. I blame Ron Artest. He was pissed because of what Ben Wallace did, he just wasn't crazy enough to attack Wallce. Instead he found a small, white guy 150 feet away. Wait what did Ben Wallace do? Artest decided to give Ben a cheap shot during garbage time of a game, and then before anything could really happen Ben was held back and Artest retreated to the scorers table. If you read the Grantland piece that begain this discussion, the only thing Wallace did was throw his arm band in frustration towards Artest because he wasn't able to get to him. I'm not saying Wallace was an angel here, if he wasn't held back he people would have beat down Artest, but what Artest did had nothing to do with Ben Wallace...he was already seperated and laying on the scorer's table because he knew he would snap if he didnt walk away. Then one the cup from the stands hit him, he snapped and took it out on the fans. The scariest thing about the incident were the multiple reports that once Artest calmed down he acted a) like he didn't really remember what had just happened and b) was rather shocked when he was told he would probably be in a ton of trouble because of what happened. There was a Pacers PBP man that he trampled over to get into the stands and broke 5 of his ribs among other things. After everything happened and Ron calmed down, he asked the guy what happened to his face (which was bloodied) and he was like "Ron, you trampled me" and Ron clearly had no idea that he did it. He later asked him the same question hours later on the plane as if he forgot again. Just scary stuff...I wouldnt want to get on his bad side.
  10. If a zoo has a visiting tiger exhibit and the tigers break out and eat visitors, the tigers have to be put down (or at least removed). But the culpability doesn't end there. The people responsible for securing the tigers also have to answer for their negligence. (If you don't like the animals example, make it a prison break that leads to rape and murder -- the rapists and murderers are the main culprits, but the wardens and officials that allowed the escape to occur must also answer.) The Pacers' nut cases were the main culprits. But the reason stadiums and professional teams have security is to prevent these situations (or at least prevent the full-scale snow-balling escalation that occured). The Pistons failed here. They're culpable for that failure. I dont know if you can blame the Pistons for not anticipating that 2 players would jump into the stands and start punching everyone in their way. Causing a frenzy. It's not just not a very likely scenario to occur. They provide enough security as they are legally required to, and they can probably train their security for what to do if players go into the stands, but it just doesn't come up often. It's like spending money for a bear patrol where there is rarely ever bears that come into the neighborhood. You can have regular policemen handle any bear related situations that come up but do you need to raise taxes to have a specialized bear patrol? http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p32/pfelon/bearpatrol.jpg
  11. Those two players are not equivalent as shooters, let's be real. As a Bull, Kerr shot .491, .524 (!), .515 (!), .464, and .438 percent from 3-point range (on at least 124 attempts each season). I love Steve Kerr but I have to point out 2 things: 1) That first year as a Bull he shot .419, not .491 2) the 2nd-4th years as a Bull (.524, .515, .464) the 3 point line was moved in, and multiple players shot over 50% from 3. His career percentage during those 3 years was exactly .500%. Outside of those 3 years, his career percentage was .424
  12. Bryan LaHair has an awesome 2nd half with Iowa, hitting 25 HRs in only 300 AB and finishing with a .950 OPS.
  13. Yes is true but its really hard to say someone is tourney caliber when they can only manage 2 wins against the 12 likely tourney teams they play in a season. Their RPI (however useless it is) and SOS is good but I can't see the committee choosing NUs resume over a bubble team with a similar resume. I hope I'm wrong though because I really want NU to make it.
  14. I was reading an article the other day that was wondering the same thing. It was concluded that they were a RPI outlier or something.
  15. I just don't know about NU. If they win at Iowa (which is a really not something that can benefit Northwestern at all. Iowa is obviously really tough at home but even if NU wins its not a win that's going to show up on anyones radar), they are 18-12 (8-10), and 2-10 against the top 50 RPI. If the season ended right now, they'd be the 8 seed and matched up against the 9 seed Illinois in the Big Ten tournament. I don't think beating Illinois and then losing in the next round is going to do much for NU. If they could win in the next round then its a different story. I hope I'm wrong, but I really think Northwestern needed to win against either Michigan or Ohio State to get in (unless they go on a run in the BTT). As it stands right now they just don't have very many "good" wins.
  16. That's gonna be a really hot stove in the middle of the summer. Someone might have a heat stroke.
  17. LOL I was wondering if that's what he really said but there was so much going on I didn't spend time trying to figure it out.
  18. Damn I can't get over how painful that was. If you know a Northwestern fan, give them a hug tonight.
  19. Wow...I feel bad for Northwestern fans. Those are 2 extremely heartbreaking losses to Michigan and Ohio State. :( I don't think they'll make it now unless they beat one of the top 5 teams in the BTT and get help. Dammit
  20. lol I keep flipping from the NU game and the Hawks. I knew it was 4-3 but didn't see the empty net goal, and I saw the Leafs put one in with 2 seconds left and thought they tied it for a minute.
  21. WOW!! I really hope Ohio State doesn't score here.
  22. Wow....the game looked to be over but NU stole it right out of OSU's hands. Gotta like that. They might need a 3 now.
  23. Wow Ohio State is imploding. Come on NU win this!
  24. You gotta somehow hit that layup Shurna
  25. Wow, I thought South Florida was a product of a somewhat easy Big East schedule but they just beat Cincinnati and won at Louisville tonight. I think they are tourney bound.
