  1. So Corey Crawford has allowed 7 goals on 20 shots in his last 2 games. I mean that's just [expletive] awful, even if some of them aren't his fault. Game 1: 4 GA on 10 shots and pulled Game 2 (tonight): 3 GA on 10 shots and pulled
  2. Good article/oral history on Grantland today recapping the "Malice at the Palace". Lots of interviews and quotes from those involved, with interesting tidbits and a look behind the scenes. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7612311/an-oral-history-malice-palace
  3. Chris Volstad will be the 2nd best starter on the Cubs this year.
  4. See, I told you guys we would win. =D> Lunardi says IU is now locked in as at least a 4 seed for the NCAA tourney and could push their way into a 3 seed. \:D/ I'm a little surprised. I figured that if they lost to Purdue and either Nebraska/Penn State that they'd probably slip to a 5. I think to have a good shot at a 3 they'd have to beat Purdue and make it to Saturday of the BTT. That would give them a good opportunity to steal a 3 seed from whichever team slips right above them. It looks like the only way for them to get a bye in the BTT now is taking it away from Ohio State if they lose their last two games, which isn't all that likely. Otherwise it would be 5th seed if they beat Purdue and 6th seed if they don't. My guess is that they are battling with Michigan for a 3/4 seed. While its true that they could both be 3's or both be 4's, its likely that one is a 3 and one is a 4 (or worse). Right now Michigan has a better conference record, but Indiana has 1 less loss and the teams both won at home in close games against each other. Both teams have a similar number of top 25 RPI wins (Indiana 4-4, UM 5-4), and don't really have many bad losses (number of +100 RPI losses: Indiana - 2, UM - 1). Right now Lunardi has Michigan as a 3 seed even after the Purdue loss, and I would guess both team are virtually tied in terms of profile. Michigan has a slight edge in Lunardi's mind but I would suspect that if Indiana wins against Purdue and Michigan stumbles either @ Illinois or @ PSU, Indiana will jump them going into the BTT).
  5. Braun's motivation to cheat is to make himself better, help his team win more games, win more awards, get paid more. If he lies and is caught he is suspended for 50 games and his name is sullied for awhile. The couriers motivation to tamper with the results is.......random hatred of Ryan Braun? If he lies and is caught, he is fired from his job, sent to jail, is ostracized from his hometown and likely dies broke in a gutter.
  6. Ryan Braun Ryan Theriot Ryan Dempster Ryan Reynolds has been kind of douchy since they started promoting him as a Hollywood superstar. Ryan Kesler is actually kind of cool, except he plays for the Canucks so, douchebag it is. Ryan Dunn drove his car excessively at a BAC that should have had him in a coma so that's a pretty big douchebag move. Ryan Gosling was in The Notebook. Need I say more? DOUCHE Did you see the way Ryan Seacrest reacted to Sasha Baron Cohen's stunt at the Oscars? Definitely a douche move. OK I'm done.
  7. No doubt this is true (22-57 for .386 % in 4 games prior to break). But rather strangely he has been red hot from 3 (12-22 for .545 %). That means he's only been shooting 10-35 from 2 those 4 games (.286). Thats. Then last night he did the exact opposite. 5-11 from 2 and 1-5 from 3.
  8. Guys, I am so jealous of the Brewers and their 1 whole playoff series win in the last 30 years. I just hate that Shaun Marcum guy because he plays for the Brewers, the team that their fans keep saying we're huge rivals of but I couldn't give a crap about. I think brewersbrewers is something like 14 years old and is just realizing the the world is bigger than the protected little cheese bubble he grew up in.
  9. Apparently because of the DNC, the NFL season is going to start on a Wednesday now instead of Thursday. Pretty cool as now I believe there will have been an NFL game in recent years on every day of the week. Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday are obvious. The Bears and Vikings played on a Tuesday in 2010 because of the Metrodome's roof issue. And in 2004, on XMas eve the Packers and someone else (Lions?) played on a Friday, one of the very few times in league history that a game was played on that date. And now you have a game on a Wednesday.
  10. Yes in a room that was cold enough to store samples as he had done with several other players who had all presumably did not trigger a positive result.
  11. I just read that he's not playing Nevermind...10 minutes ago they were saying he's not playing due to conditioning, and last minute now he's starting.
  12. I just read that he's not playing
  13. Expect? Not necessarily. Think they will? Yes Michigan State can be beaten...especially on the road. Don't get me wrong, they are a fantastic team and are more likely to win, but if NW and Illinois can beat MSU at home, Indiana certainly can. Yeah, they're playing an entirely different level of basketball right now than when they lost those 2 games. Fair point, however I still say they aren't invincible and Indiana has a shot.
  14. Right but at least now there's precedent out there making it easier to win these cases. Obviously every situation is different (ie what if its just overnight, what if its 36 hours, etc), but its gonna be a lot easier to win these things if they continue to hold onto the samples on the weekend. Also, to the comment before, I wonder if that's the case because right off the bat Braun sounded confident that he'd get this overturned. Obviously every player busted that is planning to fight says the same thing, but I just got the impression based on whatever he said that he knew he'd have a good chance of getting it overturned.

  16. Yup, I'd love Roy as a 10-15 minute per game player. But I would obviously never count on him to be there in a big game. If he's there it's just a bonus. Kinda like Rip at this point.
  17. Yep, I'm getting similar sentiment. Are these diehards or casual fans? I gotta feel like most people are happy that he's back long term but the casual fans dont understand how $15 million a year is excessive for a medium market club like STL.
  18. lol I'm reading Gateway Redbirds, and they were predicting the Molina contract would be around 4 years $46 million. I havent gotten to the part where they discover the the final total yet.
  19. So the Cardinals lose Pujols AND restrict their payroll flexibility (although not nearly as much). Good stuff.
  20. Ah so thats why they couldnt pony up enough dough for Albert.
  21. It's not greatness that is in debate, its GOAT territory, or at least top 10 player ever territory. Here are top 10ers that almost no one debates: Jordan Bird Magic Abdul Jabbar Chamberlain Russell Robertson Kobe Most people have the perception (and remember, perception is what we are talking about here) that these people all came up big in the clutch. And for the most part, that's true. LBJ needs fans to have that same view of him and it wont happen until he wins a title. Jordan was getting dogged with the same criticisms as he went titleless the first 6 years of his career. His teams kept coming up short in the playoffs, with the the later teams having higher expectations. It wasn't until Jordan won a title or two that people started piecing together his profile of clutch moments (like "The Shot" a couple of years prior.) It's not like LeBron doesn't have clutch moments in his resume. That ECFs game against the Pistons was an all time great performance. The game winning 3 against the Magic in the ECF a couple of years ago was all but erased in people's minds because the heavily favored Cavs lost the series but that was still a signature clutch moment. If/When LeBron wins a title, these moments will start to come together as part of LeBron's legend that will only grow as his career continues and especially when it ends. And that's the thing, most of us never saw Russell or Chamberlain or Robertson in the moment and yet almost everyone agrees that they came through in the clutch becuase of the legend they've created over the years. So to sum up reasons why LeBron is not considered clutch enough: 1. No titles 2. Extremely high standards 3. 24/7 Now that analyzes everything LeBron does instantly. 4. Not enough time to build a legend.
  22. Steve Kerr was an established shooter that had hit clutch shots before. Gibson I believe was an 2nd round rookie. Does it make a difference? Maybe, maybe not.
  23. Wow, that's pretty sweet.
