  1. Boggles my mind that Jake up as many ER tonight as he did in his last 13 starts combined last year. He was that good.
  2. This is seriously the worst called game I've ever seen
  3. Meaningless games are what they are and ultimately doesn't mean all that much but it still sucks to see your team lose a game with its ace on the mound against some replacement level scrub.
  4. Welp fairly or not this will hurt his Cy young chances as Travis Wood gets the job done again
  5. Wtf? He started the inning at 80 pitches, gave up a soft single and then struck out a guy (called a walk) and induced a ground ball
  6. Strike em out throw em out! Oh wait never mind ball 4 2 on 0 out
  7. This is the worst umpire in baseball history
  8. The 6th inning might be the most annoying inning in baseball history (Yes hyperbole but wtf)
  9. So 2 hardest hit balls tonight were a double and a foul ball. Fml
  10. The fact that we even have a chance to lose an Arrieta/I forgot his name already matchup the day after losing a Lester/also forgot matchup is annoying as horsefeathers
  11. That's only his 13th allowed this year. Is that a lot?
  12. I miss God mode Jake where giving up a run was startling
  13. [expletive] Jake. Should have been a comfortable win
  14. Perfect game through 4 for Jake* *Besides Josh Bell
  15. Dude seriously has this dude ever made an out against us.
  16. I've seen Jake have that same location called a ball at least twice (Zobrist K)
  17. Come on Willy he threw almost the exact same pitch 5 times in a row and you already lost 2 borderline calls. Gotta swing at that one
  18. its amazing how the stadium with the highest average attendance is so empty all the damn time http://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance Well even at 45k, that leaves 11k seats empty on average
  19. Glad Joe keeps sticking Soler out there. Since his OPS ended the day at .802, its gone back down to .747 after a 3-23, 1 XBH, 2 BB run. But he needs to keep getting ABs to make his flashes of greatness more consistent. On the flip side, I'm glad Addy is getting a rest. He's 1-17 since the middle of that Padres series.
  20. Man, the early 90s Cubs had some [expletive] free agent signings. HoJo, Danny Jackson, Kal Daniels, Dave Smith, George Bell (until he turned into Sosa), etc... Good lord, 90-97 Cubs were trash. I occasionally recommend the book "Entangled in Ivy" for an insider look at the late-80's/early-to-mid-90's Cubs. It's probably been 8-9 years since I read it but IIRC a lot of that was the Tribune Co. pushing MacPhail to make those signings because they were somewhat known names that would help bring more fans to Wrigley even if they were mostly over the hill.
  21. I can only a take a team so seriously when Joe Blanton is one of their primary late/8th inning relievers who pitches in high leverage spots Cubs fans are just petrified of the playoffs.. I guess sorta rightfully so with our history. (Granted as discussed before our lack of rings is mostly just for not being in the playoffs for an extended time). But, I've read posts of every NL playoff team from posters who are afraid of running into them in the playoffs. Giants - Even year Dodgers - Kershaw return, 2008 flashbacks Marlins - 2003 Cardinals - Fear of resetting the balance in the universe for last year Mets - 1969 and 2015 Nationals - Revenge of Dusty and fear of Daniel Murphy Pirates - Hmm strangely not concerning.
  22. I get it. I want 100 too. Stop aiming so low. 103-59 or bust
