  1. Jesse Rogers said on the radio that he's "not hearing good things about Strop" and Rondons status is "really up in the air right now"
  2. I feel like someone else has taken over this account and occasionally makes Cubs win posts in his absence.
  3. Wait. What? We will see him by like May. Maybe even April. Probably 9 month recovery plus Cubs being conservative plus rehab etc. I dunno maybe Late June? I'm just spitballing, I know nothing and have been drinking.
  4. Well if it's an ACL tear we probably won't see him until around this time next year.
  5. Being the pessimistic twit I am, I'm pretty sure Strops season is over
  6. That's like the worst sign of a severe knee injury
  7. Listening on radio. Pat and Ron seem to be convinced it's a knee injury. Is that what it looks like?
  8. There was like a week or so where Heyward was hitting he ball in the air. Now it's back to pounding it in the ground
  9. I don't care if his FIP is like 5, I love having 4 starters with an ERA under 3 and a slack jawed yokel to round things out.
  10. I'm not sure heyward is gonna get it together at the plate this season
  11. Ricky Nolasco pitching to Geovany Soto on a warm summer night at Wrigley Field. Oh what could have been.
  12. Wasn't it said that the Cubs are looking for a left handed bat with LaStella awol?
  13. Maybe Jeff Luhnow should have a seat next to you. Just 3 seasons ago, Gomez was worth 8.5 wins in a single season. ERADICATE BASEBALL REFERENCE I can't help myself, its the first result when I type in a player's name. I have been getting a little better at googling "[player's name] fangraphs" but guess I didn't do that this time.

  15. Nooooooooooooo, how will I ever enjoy the game without knowing Cliff Pennington's career stats against Jason Hammel? (kidding, I love and appreciate that you do that every day)
  16. They even raised the walls this year to try to kill some of those HRs and turn them into doubles, but if anything the Coors effect seems stronger this year if you go by ESPN's park factors.
  17. This story has officially jumped the shark for me. Only something nuts like a murder investigation would get me interested again.
  18. Is the "Inverse Coors Effect" theory still a legitimate theory? I'd like to know exactly how much it effects a players road numbers and how much we should take it into consideration when looking at Rockies hitters.
  19. Damn RIP, seemed like a good man.
  20. Is this an actual narrative? I don't recall us having any trouble getting free agents to sign here or anything along those lines. And I'd imagine it's one of the more desirable cities to play in in the league among most players. I don't think it's entirely true but they have missed out on guys they went hard after, with the most prominent examples probably Bennett's brother and then Martellus wanting to get the hell out of dodge. I think what they have in place is a reasonably well respected group, between Pace and Fox and to a lesser extent Fangio. But nobody is impressed by them or anything about this team. The strength coach and hippy did a bang up job of gutting this organization. Pace brought in a well respected Baltimore guy but he's already left and now this staff is nothing but old time Bears people and some Saints guys + Fox. It's complete blah. Didn't Michael Bennett re-sign with Seattle before FA even opened? Martellus wanted out of town but that's always going to happen when there is a regime change and roles and changed etc. Plus he seems like he subscribes to the Brandon Marshall school of franchise jumping where everyone loves him until he wears out his welcome. I think it was mutual between Bennett and the Bears not just Martellus forcing himself out of town. I feel like other than that I can't think of many high profile misses for the Bears (but my memory sucks so I could be missing some). I think they went after some of the more in demand defensive FAs out there and got them to come aboard. I'm sure most of that was wanting to play for a guy with a reputation like Fangio, but the city is still a desirable place to play. In terms of the meatballs and their cutler obsession/hot takes (now more responding to CubsBearsMagic's OP here), football is the most mainstream sport in America, and from living in other cities I can tell you every town has idiots that carry on about dumb horsefeathers. Maybe Bears fans do it more than others, I don't know but if they do its not noticeably more.
