  1. He does. 1st hr this year and sub .300 slg That goes with Chapman allowing his 10th career XBH to a lefty with a 1 run lead and runner on 2nd as annoying oddities
  2. I thought Ross was terrible against righties and he missed a HR by an inch. Weird night
  3. [expletive]. Runner on third and 1 out the last 2 innings and nothing to show for it. At least his pitch count is up there
  4. Right. Now Lester is up with a runner on 3rd and 1 out. Bad luck
  5. His glove is worth having one auto out in there
  6. Not at all. Just wish he would have lofted it more
  7. For someone that gets so much contact, Zobrist seems to fail in those situations a lot (waits to be proven wrong)
  8. Yeah but in this lineup against this pitcher it makes sense.
  9. He hits like 80% of his balls on the ground to the right side so I'm guessing that would be lower for Heyward
  10. 1st and 2nd 0 out and the inning is over in 4 pitches lol
  11. Nah, the next bonus he would get would be for hitting 714
  12. Probably, I'm guessing ARod complained about playing time and pushed the issue. The Yankees probably approached him about buying out his deal and ARod wouldn't budge so in spite they decided to deny him his 700th HR (unless he signs elsewhere). This is getting kind of funny now. Girardi said he would let ARod basically dictate his playing time this week after ARod announced his retirement, ARod then got mad when he didn't make an appearance in Sunday or Tuesday's games. He finally got a PH appearance in yesterday's game but its clear he won't start a game until Friday. Girardi backtracked and said he was caught up in emotions and that winning was his #1 priority. Now apparently ARod asked Girardi to play 3rd base on Friday and Joe said no.
  13. I know the left leg is the landing leg for a RHP, but there's also a good amount of weight/pressure/torque/whatever put on the right knee for a RHP as that's the leg they are driving off of the rubber with. I don't think an injury to one knee is overly worse than the other. hadn't thought about that angle. Also any potential lingering issues when he returns are eased by the fact that he is pitching 1 inning and 15-20 pitches, not a starter who is landing on that leg 100+ times.
  14. If that's the case, it really underscores how much we could use another lefty bat since you have Russell batting 5th (i know he hits righties better but still). If Heyward or Coghlan had a pulse they'd be hitting higher. Russell ®, Heyward, Coghlan, Ross ® and Lester is rough. On a non-Lester night you'd have Montero too. I don't think that's really a captial P problem, could it be a bit better? Sure, but the improvement comes most from Heyward and Coghlan meeting minimal expectations rather than making a bunch of personnel changes(Russell is going to stay in the lineup, for example). Oh sure I am splitting hairs here, it's not a dire issue but it does become a little more exposed when you face a pitcher who is death on righties and some of your lineup options are to add a guy hitting .158 this year (Coghlan), a guy hitting .190 this year (Montero). One of your switch hitters is better against lefties (Fowler), and one of your starting lefties has a better OPS against LHP this year (although he's sucked in all situations - Heyward).
  15. Not only that, but it gives Edwards a chance to continue to thrive in the 7th inning (although Joe loves him some Travis Wood so I suspect he won't be the full time 7th guy), and gives Grimm the roster spot to continue to prove that he is over his early season struggles
  16. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0555488786599909584-4 Probably really good news, our pen can still be intact for the playoffs
  18. The Cubs are saying 'we're going to beat you with one arm tied around our back' (coghlan starting in LF)
  19. BTW if anyone forgot this is what Law said about Hendricks after the Cubs acquired him: Which is fine, people are allowed to be wrong and obviously there is a lot of variance when projecting a pitcher who is in high A ball, especially one without great stuff. But every time Law gets asked about it over the last 4 years he seems to always try to knock him or make a justification for his earlier comments.
  20. Gotta respect Keith Law going down with the ship
  21. Ross and Fowler are on the score now. Ross is hilarious. Asked about his relationship with Lester: (Paraphrased) "we have a love hate relationship. On game days it's hate. I get on his case and make sure I'm getting the most out of Johnny. It's like "dude it's my one day to play don't screw this up for me. You suck and I only get 2 ABs because they PH for me"
