  1. Yes you are right we all hate lackey because he's a bad pitcher.
  2. God Heyward is back to being an auto out. Even when starting an AB 3-0. Guess you can survive on a healthy diet of weak grounders finding holes and bloop hits that fall in. Maddon has rather quietly moved him down to 7th the last few games
  3. Zobrist needs to step his horsefeathers up.
  4. Lesters BABIP against has to be higher than normal today. Lots of hits finding holes
  5. Cubs are donging like crazy tonight. Sort of
  6. Agreed. Len and JD were quite "meh" on their call
  7. Just a reminder that this dude has a 8.53 ERA over his last 4 starts in which he wasn't able to make it past 5.1 IP in any of them.
  8. Strand a lead off triple, come on guys
  9. well they finished 23rd in pass defense DVOA so it would be a pretty big fall over the last 6 or so games of the season.
  10. I hate admitting this but I've just never liked deep dish. I don't necessarily dislike it, and I will eat it if served to me, but I would never choose to order deep dish pizza on my own. Edit: But since I'm a loyal chicagoan, I will fight to the death for it.
  11. I think there is a lot of griping about the secondary, but I think if the front 7 is generating pressure and the LBs are protecting the intermediate routes effectively, the effect a lousy secondary has is negated a good bit. Plus think the safeties will be better than expected so that will help.
  12. So basically the Cubs have to sweep
  13. Isn't this the last year of Tal's Hill?
  14. Year one of Tresty, with the shortened Martz year being number 2, at least on a per game basis. Yeah the 2 years with Martz were pretty good considering his receivers during those years were Johnny Knox, Devin Hester, Earl Bennett, Rashied Davis, Devin Aromashodu, Roy Williams and Dane Sanzenbacher (he did have Greg Olsen in 2010) In fact I never would have believed that Jay's career arc went the way it did if you told me during the 4th quarter of that chargers game in 2011. That was his career peak, one year removed from a 11-5 division title and NFC title game appearance, bounced back from a 2-3 start to win 5 in a row and considered one of the legit contenders in the NFC. Then he broke his damn thumb chasing down a DB who intercepted a pass that shouldn't have been intercepted (I believe it bounced off his shitty WR target and held up in the air long enough for someone to grab it) and it all went downhill from there.
  15. horsefeathers the Astros...can't believe its been almost 4 years since they were in our division.
  16. D'oh I thought it was an issue with taking images hosted off of Getty, but it dawns on me that I'm a moron and its Getty owned images. Well at least they're less likely to find the abuse of the image if its hosted on another site. Fine I'll take it down....this was the image http://i.imgur.com/Lz5E8nY.png if you want to get technical, that's a derivative work and still infringing. Now Getty is going to come after you guns a blazin. No way, in the ACTUAL image, his jersey says Garciaparra. If Getty is reading this, I was ACTUALLY drawing a picture of imaginary future Cub Mark Nomar
  17. yes, but we aren't judging their place in last year's mix, we're trying to predict how good they'll be this year. if they got even a little bit better, they could be a playoff team. The issue is they needed to get significantly better, not a little bit. You're really grasping and looking at last year through rose colored glasses. They were bad. They needed to make substantial steps forward, but in my eyes they have really only gotten a little better. But even if they got a little better, they are going from the hardest schedule in the NFL based on opponents win% to I think the 3rd easiest. Obviously what looks like an easy schedule before games start is not necessarily as easy when we find out how good teams are, but it should be considerably easier than last year's schedule.
  18. That's not how it works. D'oh I thought it was an issue with taking images hosted off of Getty, but it dawns on me that I'm a moron and its Getty owned images. Well at least they're less likely to find the abuse of the image if its hosted on another site. Fine I'll take it down....this was the image http://i.imgur.com/Lz5E8nY.png
  19. EDIT: REMOVED GETTY IMAGE http://i.imgur.com/Lz5E8nY.png
  20. TREE I need a gam thread I want to reminisce about how much I used to hate the Astros and all their douchy players
  21. They'd have Wainwright. They should send out Martinez. That's a good point. All the logic in the world would suggest throwing Martinez in the WC game, but Matheny will go with the grizzled veteran that he's been to war with as a player, and Wainwright will somehow throw a gem and we will have to face Martinez, the only Cardinal pitcher that even comes close to scaring me, up to 2 times
  22. i never thought i'd hate tommy pham less than i did The Cardinals seek out pond scum to fill out their roster, but occasionally an OK guy is acquired by mistake. Just like sometimes their pond scum leaks onto other good guy rosters like ours.
  23. But the Cubs haven't even played the hardest part of their schedule yet
