  1. Javy having a rough few games. 0-17 with 11 K since Saturday.
  2. Wow. Has it really been that long? That needs to change. I believe the last one was Addison's grand slam in the 8th inning of the 3rd White Sox game. So 6 full games, and one half game today.
  3. You know what would be cool? If we did one of those things where a Cubs batted ball ends up over the fence in fair territory. I believe we have used an euphemism for a male appendage to describe this in the past but its been so long... if I'm not mistaken its been 7 games since we've done this.
  4. I think the Cubs are doing this on purpose because they don't like Lackey either.
  5. Lackey is going to flip his horsefeathers if he hits a leadoff double and the top of the Cubs order couldn't even get him to 3rd base.
  6. Someone on the Marlins should bunt to the right side so Lackey has to cover first and then choose to slide spikes up into 1st base
  7. Being the sensitive guy that I am, I would be a lot more scared to post if there was a down vote option. I'd rather imagine all most posts are deemed acceptable to the board unless otherwise ripped apart via a text reply.
  8. Not watching the game, but would Gordon have scored anyway? I think the issue was that he broke the wrong way on the ball at first. It's still questionable whether he would have caught it if he broke correctly, but he had no shot by going in at first. Dee would have scored regardless if the ball wasn't caught
  9. So much hate (Lackey) for a guy that is so solid. 3.80 fip and he's a jackass. i look at him and see nothing worth liking. Then who is your 4 in the playoffs? Hammel and his 4.27 FIP?
  10. Lackey is still my 4 for the playoffs unless he completely goes off the deep end. He seems like the kind of guy who will get locked in for playoff games. Unless he's on short rest and Javy Baez is on the other team.
  11. One of the few times Contreras has semi-misplayed a ball in LF. Expect Lackey to bitch about it in his postgame interview after a 13-1 Cubs win.
  12. After MadBum's bad start last night, Hendricks is now 2nd in baseball in ERA. Clayton Kershaw will drop out of the ranks of qualified starters if he does not pitch in the team's next 16 games.
  13. I remember reading that the Cubs basically asked the Yankees who they preferred between Torres and Eloy during trade discussions for Chapman. Torres is a great prospect but I'm surprised that they chose Torres. Perhaps the Cubs and Yankees both valued Eloy higher and it was basically Torres+the package they got or Eloy+lesser package. Either way I'm thrilled the Cubs held onto him and I hope we see him come up with the Cubs and not traded.
  14. With last night's events, Fangraph's has raised the Cubs playoff odds from 99.7% to 99.9% although somehow their odds of winning the division went down from 98.1% to 98% and the Cardinals went up from 1.6% to 1.8%
  15. i think its obvious theo's cronies did something very bad to get Grimmer back up here
  16. Are we sure it wasn't Soler and Eloy that pissed into a fountain together and changed bodies? Potentially some time in the offseason?
  17. At the all star break I think we were 3.5 games behind the Giants for best record in baseball. Now a couple of weeks later we are back to having a 3 game lead over the Nats (and 4 over Giants) for best record.
  18. I mean strop hasn't been terrible, a ton of bad luck, some self inflicted but I just don't see the need to remove Hammel at 80 pitches.
  19. How do you horsefeathering remove Hammel when he's cruising for fling .196 Montero?
  20. Cubs are getting a lot of solid contact, attacking early in the count. They might get to him or he might pitch 8-9 innings with a low pitch count
  21. That inning changed when Rizzo swung at ball 4. Happy wth a run though!
  22. Not worth its own thread but Joe Smith is with the team tonight and Patton has been sent down in the corresponding move.
  23. http://lastwordonsports.com/2016/08/02/four-reasons-cardinals-world-series-win/ Some excerpts and my comments: OK so the first reason why the Cardinals could win the World Series this year is because they have scored more runs in the 9th inning than every other team except 1. There are a number of different ways to go with this, you could mention that 9th inning runs scored has no predictive value for a team's World Series chances, you could mention that the Cardinals are 4th in baseball in runs scored so having scored the 2nd most runs in the 9th inning isn't an extreme outlier. But I will go with this, I wonder if they've scored so many 9th inning runs because they are FREAKING 25-30 AT HOME and find themselves played more bottom of the 9ths than other teams that score a lot of runs? No need for a snarky rebuttal here, I'll just point out that they are 22-35 against teams over .500 this year THEY ARE 25-30 AT HOME THIS YEAR. And that last sentence is a total BFIBy line.
